Recapitulation (Employee Development Program)

Let’s have a short recapitulations on what we had learned about our first program
activity yesterday. As our school director said on his welcome remarks, he
discussed to us what Employee Development Program is all about, the goal & the
benefits as well. As Sir Engr. Galo Weygan, Jr. said to us yesterday, an employee
development program, or EDP for short, is a training program that helps us
employees to improve our skills and abilities with our passion, commitment &
integrity, which can help us to develop and achieve greater success.

Also, we learned and discussed yesterday the teacher’s code of conduct which we
emphasized and focused on some code of ethics for professional teachers
specifically The teacher and the state, The teacher and the community, The teacher
and the profession, The teacher and the teaching community, The teacher and the
higher authorities in the Philippines, School officials, teachers, and other personnel,
The teacher and learners, The teacher and parents, The teacher and business, and
The teacher as a person. This professional code of ethics outlines us teachers’
responsibilities to our students and defines the role of our student’s life “Putting
student’s first”. As an educators, we must demonstrate integrity, and ethical
behavior inside or outside the classroom, whether virtual or in-person and in their
conduct with parents and coworkers.

Aside from the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, sir Cheston was introduced
and demonstrated to us how to use Open Broadcaster Software or OBS on Hybrid
learning. As what we learned about Hybrid class, Hybrid learning is an educational
model where some students attend class in-person, while others join the class
virtually from home.

Furthermore, Ma’am Marlene Baluyut discussed to us the Four Fundamental

Principles of Outcome-based Education (OBE) by William Spaddy specifically the 1.
Clarity of focus which means that everything teachers do must be clearly focused
on what they want students to know, understand and be able to do. 2. Designing
down which means that the curriculum design must start with a clear definition of
the intended outcomes that students are to achieve by the end of the program. 3.
High expectations which means that teachers should establish high, challenging
standards of performance in order to encourage students to engage deeply in what
they are learning. 4. Expanded opportunities wherein teachers must strive to
provide expanded opportunities for all students. And In connection to OBE, as Mam
Marlene and Sir Carmelo said yesterday that an OBE focuses on the assessment of
the students to find out the output or the product and what is important for
students to be able to do the assessment to make sure this learning ultimately
happens.
