Mechanics and Guidelines

Theme: “Embracing the New Era”.

Contest Rules and Mechanics:

1. The contest is open for ALL Senior High School and College students.
2. The speech to be delivered must be substantially original and should revolve around the theme.
3. The speech must be written in English and must be delivered from memory.
1. Each participant will be given 3-5 minutes to deliver his/her speech through video recording.
Use a white background when recording your video.
2. Entries shall submit a PDF copy of the piece and the 3–5-minute recorded video on or before
January 19, 2022 to bsbtsao@gmail.com.
3. Top three (3) will be declared as winners.
4. Criteria for Judging:

20 % Pacing Speed of ideas and speech
Body Language Eye contact, gesture, posture
Preparation
Organization Introduction Opening gambits, engaging audience, providing background
20 % Division of themes info, clarifying purpose
Conclusion Logic in order of presenters; clear links between sections
Discourse Reinforcing, summary
Coherence, logic, focus, continuity of thought
Content Depth Adjusted for audience
30% Level Information load, relevance
Authority Convincing, sources noted & quoted appropriately
Terminology Explanation of key terms
Language Communicative Appropriate usage, style and structure
15 % force Clarity and intelligibility
Pronunciation Accuracy
Grammar Choice
Vocabulary

5. The decision of the judges shall be final.

6. Results of competition will be announced through the official FB page of BSBT College, Inc.
