Introduction • A laser is a device that stimulated atoms or molecules to
emits light at particular wavelength and amplifies that light,
typically producing a very narrow beam of radiation.

• The full form of LASER : Light

Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

LIDAR
• LiDAR, or Light Detection and Ranging, is an active
remote sensing technology that uses light in the form
of a pulsed laser to measure distance.

• Light pulses, combined with other data points

generated by the system, create accurate 3-D
information about an object with relation to its
environment.

• LiDAR is considered to be unparalleled in depth and

dimension for finding the distance between objects
and does so faster than RADAR or cameras.

• It can also be used to make digital 3-D representations of
areas on the Earth's surface and ocean bottom of the
intertidal and near coastal zone by varying the
wavelength of light.

• The distance is measured by sending a short laser pulse

and recording the time lapse between outgoing light
pulse and the detection of the reflected (back-scattered)
light pulse.

• It may use a scan mirror, multiple laser beams, or other

means to "scan" the object space. With the ability to
provide accurate measurement of distances, LiDAR can
be used to solve many different problems.

Holography
D E FI N I T I O N

• Holography is a photographic principle

that produces 3D images that are so real
that it is possible to take measurements
inside this image with a precision of a
fraction of a thousandth of a millimeter.

• Holography involves formation of an
interference pattern between coherent,
i.e., laser, light beams, one of which is
modulated by the object being imaged.

Holography
D E TA I L S
• The record, called a hologram, is
like a window with a memory; it
can reconstruct a truly 3D image of
the original object.

• Different perspectives of the scene

are seen through different portions
of the hologram.

Bar-Code Reader
• A barcode scanner, or barcode reader, is a device
with lights, lenses, and a sensor that decodes and
captures the information contained in barcodes.

• Laser scanners use a laser beam as a light source

and typically employ oscillating mirrors or
rotating prisms to scan the laser beam back and
forth across the barcode. A photodiode then
measures the reflected light from the barcode.
An analog signal is created from the photodiode,
and is then converted into a digital signal.

Laser Communication
• Laser communications is a communication
method where a laser diode transmits a beam
of information to a receiving beam.

• The most important condition needed for

laser communication is a free, unhindered line
of sight.

• Laser communication has more bandwidth

than radio waves.

Summary With that’s it we would like to conclude that LASER Tech.
is advancing day by day creating more opportunities. As we
have already discussed about it’s uses in the technology
sector. But it has a wide variety of applications in other
fields too.
