OBJECTIVES

• The main aim of our project is to reduce the accidents and provide security for road users using
simple automatic light tool called Automatic Road Reflector

09/21/2021 Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering 3

ABSTRACT

• In this project, an automatic road reflector replaces the raised pavement marker by its automation
principle
• The automatic road reflector is designed to indicate a curvature on the road,it also senses the light
and works accordingly
• Automatic road reflector is more effective as it is portable, battery powered and capable of low
light sensing
• The automatic road reflector helps in leading the vehicles on there path during the night time
• It consists of photoresister and this photoresister works on the principle of photoconductivity

LITERATURE REVIEW

• Photo conductivity was discovered by “willoughby swith” who an English Electrical engineer and
discoverded the photoconductivity of the element selenium in 1873
• Later in the 1920’s, Gudden and pohl developed the photo conductivity theory, demonstrating the
dependence of photoconductivity, light absorption and inlumescence on the light wavelength

WORKING PRINCIPLE

• It works on the principle of photoconductivity, making them useful in light sensing

• The term photoconductivity stands for a phenomenon in which the conductivity of a substance increases
while in contact with light. In general terms, the LDR is made up of substance who has a low conductivity
in darkness, and whenever it comes in the contact with light the conductive property of the sensor
increases.
