WHAT’S MORE
1. What is the importance of each non-state institution to our country?
Answer this question by completing the unfinished statements below.
a. Banks allow us to deposit money that can grow through the interest rate.
Banks also provide loans with an interest rate. It also makes it significantly
simpler for a complex economy to carry out the incredible variety of
transactions that take place in the commodities, labor, and financial capital
markets.
b. Corporations give us the chance to earn a profit. Corporations, on the other
hand, are accountable for raising earnings in order to maximize those of their
investors.
c. Trade unions help workers to obtain legally mandated labor protections
and rights such as safety and health, overtime, and family or medical leave, as
well as wage hikes, a pleasant working atmosphere, and awards and other
benefits.
d. Cooperatives can make cheaper goods and services for us to collaborate for
secure, fast, and inexpensive access to commodities, loans, and other services.
e. Development agencies transform our goods so that they may be made into
reality.
f. Civil Organizations can be useful in helping poor nations improve their
transparency and governance by encouraging wider public discussion on
problems relating to the formation and administration of government
finances, as well as by advocating for full visibility of public revenues.
g. Transnational advocacy groups raise awareness about issues in society such
as human rights, women's rights, and government issues.
2. Are these non-state institutions connected to the government? If yes, how?
If not, why not?
Yes, non-state institutions are somehow connected with the government
because in most cases, they work with the government to carry out initiatives.
Non-state institutions also pay taxes to the government.
3. What are the functions of the government in relation to its people?
The public must be protected and served by the government. In exchange for
the preservation of life and the provision of critical services, the citizen
effectively surrenders some of his or her individual freedom to the
government. The government provides services like social security and health
insurance as well for the people.
4. How do non-state institutions help the government in performing its
functions?
Non-state institutions help the government by providing or supplying goods
and services.
5. What do you think will happen if we do not have non-state institutions?
We are all aware that government services are insufficient to meet the
demands of all people. People will have trouble obtaining alternate options for
health, education, and other services that the government offers.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
What are the duties and responsibilities of the state to its people?
States have the legal obligation to protect and promote human rights, including
the right to social security, and ensure that people can realize their rights
without discrimination.
Because of non-state institutions, I am able to volunteer to the institution about
the skills that I acquire, give back to my community, increase my well-being
and connect me to local activities, and help me to increase my capacity and to
reach out to communities.
Because of non-state institutions, my community is now more compassionate.

WHAT I CAN DO
Based on the quotation, I learned that we should not rely on governments and
we should also help them.

WHAT’S NEW
1. How formal and nonformal education differ?
Formal education takes place full-time and does not permit other parallel
activities, especially productive work. Non-formal education is part-time, and
activities may be timed in a variety of ways to meet the needs and convenience
of learners.
2. Which type of education are you in, the formal or the nonformal? Why?
I'm in nonformal education. Because there is still a pandemic because of the
pandemic I need to stay at home and follow health protocols government
implemented blended learning so that's why I'm in the nonformal education
what is formal education?
Formal learning is education normally delivered by trained teachers in a
systematic intentional way within a school, higher education, or university.
what is nonformal education?
Non-formal education refers to education that occurs outside the formal
school system. Non-formal education is often used interchangeably with terms
such as community education, adult education, lifelong education, and second-
chance education.
3. Give example/s of formal and nonformal education.
Formal: Having a proper syllabus about a subject and learning about them by
attending great institutions.
Non-Formal: The Scouts and Guide society teaches several sports like
swimming which comes under no formal education.
4. Why do you think they are important in the society?
education is important in our society because education is given us knowledge
such as how to become a respectful citizen, learn what is right and wrong, and
of course, we learn how to love and to give importance to the person we need
to give any attention.

Differences between Formal and Nonformal Education

Formal Education
1. Formal education takes place in specially designated learning areas and strictly adheres to
a structured curriculum that divides learning into stages. A course is made up of several
such stages. Teachers are specially trained individuals whose job is to facilitate learning.
2. Formal education refers to a structured education system that extends from primary (and,
in some countries, nursery) school to university and includes specialized programs for
vocational, technical, and professional training. Formal education is typically followed by
recognition and certification.
Nonformal Education
1. Informal education is a method of imparting knowledge and skills that are not part of a
structured curriculum.
2. Non-formal education is education that takes place outside of the formal school system. It
refers to a wide range of community educational initiatives, ranging from home-based
learning to government programs and community initiatives. It includes accredited
courses offered by well-known institutions as well as locally based operations with
limited resources.
Similarities of Formal and Nonformal Education
 They both impart knowledge and skill to the learner.
 They both lead to a change in the attitude and behavior of the learner.

WHAT’S IN
1. Kindergarten is under the (DEPED) Department of Education. The goal of this
educational system agency was To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to
quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where: Students
learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment.
Kindergarten education aims to make education responsive to the needs,
circumstances, and diversity of learners, schools, and communities using
developmentally appropriate and culturally-sensitive practices. The Mother Tongue
of the learner shall be the primary medium of teaching and learning.

Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner. Educational goals
are statements that describe the skills, competencies, and qualities that you should
possess upon completion of a course or program. It usually involves identifying
objectives, choosing attainable short-term goals, and then creating a plan for
achieving those goals.
2. Alternative Learning System is being referred to by the given text. The Government
establishes ALS to provide all Filipinos the chance to have access to and complete
basic education in a mode that fits their distinct situations and needs.

The system of Alternative Learning is being entailed by the provided text. ALS is
usually established by the government in order to give an opportunity to all
Filipinos regarding accessing and completing the basic education; in a manner that
would fit their distinct needs and situations.
3. Universal Kindergarten of Basic Education
This step of education begins when the Filipino child is five years old. It serves as
the basic school as it enables a child to learn the basic alphabets, numbers, shapes,
colors ( from pictorials), and parts of the body. This forms the first and very crucial
stage of school. Procedurally, they first learn these in their respective mother tongue
as they socialize amongst themselves through songs, dances, games, and storytelling.
This serves as a foundation of knowledge for them. After this stage of education,
they reach junior school and thereafter, high school. The concepts and theories
learned become more detailed as they progress.
WHAT’S NEW
ANALYSIS
WHAT
The categorization of social classes as lower, middle and upper considers the
economic well-being of an individual. Many sociologists if not all agree that
every society is made up of hierarchies, and these hierarchies consider such
things as a wealth of an individual, the occupation, educational background,
and even the membership of an individual as far as a subculture is concerned.
It considers the lower class people to be those people who have fewer
educational qualifications and have lower incomes or no incomes at all. They
include the peasants. The middle class refers to the majority who fall between
the lower and the upper class and includes teachers. They are not so wealthy
and they are not poor. Lastly, we have the upper class, which is always a
smaller percentage of society. They have massive wealth and also education.
They may include the top politicians in society. All thee three groups make up
the social class of the society.

HOW
Education is a process in which a certain individual acquires new skills,
behaviors, or understandings, often in a formal setting that helps them
increase their ability to achieve a certain status or state or attract
opportunities for such changes due to the growth and development they
acquire from education eventually education changes one's current social
class due to the fact that a certain individual who educated more with regards
to complex changes and create opportunities in achieving or acquiring certain
desirable things that helps them to change or increase certain status,
education also build one's person personality or consistently high-level traits
associated with the way an individual interacts with other individuals and
groups. degree or level of education is also used in classifying certain
individual statuses. education can affect social mobility and eventually change
one's, current social class when a person changes their occupation but their
overall social standing remains unchanged

WHY
Inequality in society means the disparities in the distribution of economic
assets and income as well as between the overall quality and luxury of each
person's existence within society. It exists because of the lack of wealth in
certain areas that prohibits people from obtaining the same housing,
healthcare, etc. as the wealthy, in the societies where access to these social
goods depends on wealth.

WHAT’S NEW
1. When he was a little boy, he saw people starving all over the place. He observed that
the world around him was separated into classes and that there were inequities
between the rich and the poor. Like how certain people have privileges while others
do not. As a result, he developed a theory that discusses the conflicts between
capitalism and the working class.
2. Karl Marx wanted to end the following things with his plan;
 Exploitation of workers
 Discrimination of people based on their skin color
 End of private ownership of property.
 Inequality in society.
3. What are THE GOVERNMENT AND SOCIAL INEQUALITIES The prevalence of
social inequality in any society can not be dismissed? In fact, President Obama
( 2013 ) said inequality is " the defining challenge of our time. " It has been part of
us and is ever-growing and expanding as time goes by. Social inequality can be
described as a state of social affairs in which there is a difference in opportunity,
status, and treatment among the member of a given society. As Lee and Rawls
( 2010 ) assert, it is more than just a case of geographic difference. While persons
from economically advantaged backgrounds have always gone to college at higher
rates than their less - privileged peers, these gaps have expanded since the 1980s.
However pervasive these inequalities might be, though, it could still be addressed.
The government, having identified these inequalities, tries to formulate viable
projects and initiatives to support research on programs, policies, and practices that
reduce inequality in different sectors of society. It extends to many areas like youth
development, reflecting disparities in arenas beyond education such as mental
health, criminal justice, and workforce development ( Alegria, Vallas, and
Pumariega 2010; Fader, Kurlychek, and Morgan 2014; Schwartz, Ferguson, and
Symonds 2010 ). The cry of the minority ( any small group in society that is different
from the rest because of their race, religion, political beliefs, or a person who
belongs to such a group ) roots in the desire to achieve social inclusion. Social
inclusion is a fundamental principle of social justice. It is the process of improving
the terms for individuals and groups to take part in society " and "the process of
improving the ability, opportunity, and dignity of people, disadvantaged on the
basis of their identity, to take part in society " ( World Bank, 2013, pp. 3 - 4 ). In the
Philippines, for instance, the gap between rich and poor regions widens even more.

WHAT’S MORE
1. As a lawmaker, to avoid social inequality in this scenario, I will make a
law that only those people who have symptoms of COVID - 19, those
who are exposed to the COVID positive patient, and those who have a
high risk of getting COVID - 19. If the people do not have any
symptoms of COVID - 19 even if he is the president or senator of the
country they do not have the right to get the health for services.
2. Prostate cancer is just as lethal as breast cancer, and while the number
of men diagnosed with the disease is about the same as the number of
women diagnosed with breast cancer, breast cancer research receives at
least 75 percent more money. One way to address this seeming inequity
is to provide additional funding to prostate cancer research and other
types of cancer which may have been overlooked through the years.
3. Mindanao, is the southernmost and most populous of the Philippines'
islands, with between 25 and 40 percent of its families living in abject
poverty. Six of the country's ten regions are in the country's top ten in
terms of inequities, putting it among the world's poorest countries. With
more than one-third of the poorest families in the Philippines residing in
the 30 most destitute provinces around the nation, the country has been
trapped in a cycle of poverty that is very difficult to break free from.

2. they are persistently pursuing to work abroad to lift their families from poverty.
Other OFWs have chosen to work abroad for a better salary, which the local
employers could not provide them. Still, some OFWs are forced to work abroad due
to underemployment caused by job mismatch in work opportunities and workers '
skills in the country. Nonetheless, few non-governmental organizations continuously
provide a support system to OFWs to protect their rights and assist them to fulfil
their employment goals while working abroad.
WHAT’S MORE
1. As far as I see the question you have posted, there is already an answer provided in it,
that's why all I need to do is to check whether your answer is good. So far, you did great.
Why I can tell that your answer is good.

The advantage is that it can block harmful radiation which can affect us and can kill us.
With the help of this, it can filter and block it so that it will not go directly to us and we will
not be affected by this. It can also control climate so that it will not be abnormal and it will
go through to its season.

The disadvantage of it is that it can cause global warming. When it happens we humans are
in danger because it can cause and bring any disease and it will heat the surroundings. It
can be the reason for the loss of fauna and flora because of the overheating of the
surroundings which can kill their biodiversity.
2. Climate change encompasses not only rising average temperatures but also extreme
weather events, shifting wildlife populations and habitats, rising seas, and so on because
humans continue to do many activities that add heat-trapping greenhouse gases to the
atmosphere and all these changes are emerging.
3. Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) are helping the economy through remittances. These
remittances are helping a burgeoning middle class, bridging the gap between the rich and
the poor. Consumption of goods and services improves as living standards and disposable
income improve, propelling the economy ahead.
4. Some of the pros of being an OFW(Overseas Filipino Worker) in social stratification and
inequity are as follows;
1. Traveling and gaining international experience are two great ways to broaden your
horizons.
2. Better job opportunities and a greater salary.
3. Places one on a worldwide scale, career and profession marketability.
4. Self-sufficiency and a better way of life
Explanation
Traveling and gaining international experience are two great ways to broaden your
horizons.
Working in a foreign country will allow you to travel to new locations, meet new people,
and learn about their cultures, traditions, and ways of life.

Better job opportunities and a greater salary.
Working overseas can be financially profitable, which is the fundamental reason why
people are eager to move abroad for employment despite all odds. Furthermore, if one is
fortunate enough to find a wonderful firm, some international companies offer exceptional
advantages that extend to your immediate families, such as travel expenses, housing
allowance, sponsorship, and health benefits.

Places one on a worldwide scale, career and profession marketability.
Working in a foreign country has always had advantages over working locally. Having
international job experience can provide you with a unique perspective and equip you to
build the skill sets required in a global context.

Self-sufficiency and a better way of life
When you're distant from home, you don't have much of an option but to live alone. You
will have no one to rely on except yourself because you will be separated from your family
and friends. Living and surviving in a foreign country, on the other hand, has a distinct
advantage in that it sharpens your independence. Another advantage of working and living
abroad is that you are more likely to choose to settle in or for countries where the economy
and security are significantly superior to your home country.

Some of the pros of being an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) in social stratification and
inequity are as follows;
wasting one's hard-earned money
Exclusion.
The system is thrown for a loop.

wasting one's hard-earned money
One of our typical Filipino practices, when we get our hard-earned money, is to spend and
buy what we want and save the rest. Why not make a 180-degree turn and save first, then
spend what's left If you already have a job and some extra cash, you might choose to invest
it in one of these OFW business ideas.

Exclusion is rampant.
Unfortunately, most foreigners, particularly in first-world countries, regard OFWs as
third-class and low-wage workers. They tend to give us fewer opportunities and lower
labor rates for the same task that is normally highly rewarded in other nations in terms of
employment positions, compensations, and other benefits.

The system is thrown for a loop.
This is more likely to occur when you are new to a location. The location and setting may
appear mysterious and difficult to cope with. Just don't be alarmed; it's natural, and
whatever happens, you'll get used to it eventually. Be optimistic, make friends, familiarize
yourself, and once you've become used to it, you'll see things differently.
