1) Search on the Internet 2 job offers for Computer System Administrator or Sysadmin: 1 for Windows platforms in Spain
(can be in Spanish), and 1 for Windows outside=abroad Spain. Capture full screens of web pages to collect=gather
full information on each of the offers. [ ].
2) By studying the job offers, make a detailed comparison, indicating salary=wage, benefits/perks, experience, location,
qualifications, skills (technical, personal, organizational), languages, availability to travel, teleworking possibility, own
vehicle and so on=forth. [ ].
3) Search on the Internet detailed information on the characteristics of 1 particular datacenter located in Spain with
TIER IV/TIER IV Gold/TIER V Certificate, including drawings and photos. [ ].
4) We need to buy a 42-U rack of 1 m (1,000-mm) deep for our brand-new datacentre in order to hold=house servers. In
addition, we should buy 4 accessories of 1U. Make a quotation of the rack and its 4 accessories of 1 U. Include
photos, detailed features and prices. [ ]. (2)
5) Visit the web site of server manufactures HP, IBM, Dell or Supermicro (or another brand you may know) and make a
quotation (with photos, detailed specs and pricing is possible) of 3 servers: 1 low-end tower format, 1 midrange rack
format, and another high-end blade chassis format (both the chassis=enclosure and more than 1 blade servers). The
servers will have a minimum of 4 hard disks (in tower and rack server/adding disks of each blade server), a minimum
of 64 GB, 2 network adapters and 2 hot swap power supplies. [ ]. (3)
6) An administrator of the computer system has a tower server with space for 3 2.5-inch SSD. The computer hasn’t
RAID controller but has PCI Express x4, x8 and 16x free slots. Make a quotation for your computer for implement a in
RAID 5 system via hardware with exactly 4 SSD disks. For this you must find the quotation of a RAID controller board
type PCI-Express and 3 SSD disks. Indicate: full features, photo, and pricing of the controller, and the 3 SSD. [ ]. (2)
7) We need to purchase=buy one 49U 19'' rack (U=rack Unit) for our datacenter, in order to host=house rack servers. In
addition, we must host=house 6 rack accessories: 5 accessories of 1U, 3 accessories of 2U, and 1 accessory of 8U.

7.1) How many 4U rack servers could be housed in the rack after housing the accessories? There are any free Us in
the rack after housing the servers and the accessories? if the answer is true, how may free/spare Us do we

7.4) What is the minimum depth that should have the rack in centimetres (40 cm, 60 cm, 80 cm, 100 cm or 120 cm),

8) We must purchase=buy a brand-new, top-notch rack server which supports a total of 24
SAS hard drives hot swappable (hot swap). Of these 24 disks, we can configure up to 3
disks as standby (hot spare). The hard drive model you want to buy has the following specs:
10TiB and a price of 500 €. Propose=suggest the appropriate=suitable RAID system for the
following practical cases, and indicate the maximum number of disks that can be purchased,
the useful capacity for the user (logical capacity), the cost of the disks in €, and finally, the
number and order of then disks that could fail=crash until all data is lost:
8.1) Invest in the disks as little money as possible (cheapest option), so that, if 1 disk crashes, it will not lose data (in
other words, fault tolerance is crucial=important=key). Moreover=What is more=In addition, it’s
compulsory=mandatory=obligatory to use 1 spare disk to automatically replace the future disks that could
fail=crash. (2)
8.2) Get=Obtain=Achieve=Reach the greatest=largest useful capacity (logical capacity) whit the possibility of 1 disk
crashes=failures without data loss at the same time (fault tolerance is required). In addition, if 2 disk fail=crash,
2 spare disk will be used to automatically replace the crashed disks. (2)
8.3) Get=Obtain=Achieve=Reach the best performance with fault tolerance. In addition, in case of failure we will use
3 spare disk to automatically replace the crashed disks. (2)

8.4) Get=Obtain=Achieve the best performance, although if 1 disk fails=crashes, all data will be lost. (2)
9) Surf the Net to find the website of latest version of the 4 next Linux distributions of 64-bit for servers: Red Hat
Enterprise Linux Server, Suse Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu Server and Centos. Take full screenshots showing
detailed information of the features of each version or, if you prefer, you can write down the information. In addition,
add its logo and at least 2 screenshots of each operating system while functioning. [ ]. (2)
10) Make a timeline of all versions of Windows for servers that have appeared on the market, with the logo and release
date, distinguishing=making out if they are 16-bit, 32-bit or 64-bits versions (or several of them). [ ]. (2)
11) Find out about the computer system administrator’s (sysadmin) tasks=duties and a practical example of each
task=duty. You have to write down detailed information and more tasks than the tasks defined in the unit. [ ].
