Although most preventers have open face flanges or
Cameron Clamp Connections, preventers with
studded flanges can be furnished.

optional hydraulic locking mechanism. No spacers
between rams are included in the table of
dimensions of double ram models. Preventers with
spacers to clear tool joints can be obtained on
special order. For information on preventers with
spacers, or sizes not listed, consult your Cameron
representative.

HYDRAULIC CONTROL CONNECTIONS, to operate

rams and bonnets, are 1" NPT. There are two
connections for each set of rams. Hydraulic ram lock
connections are W' NPT.

CAMERON CLAMP CONNECTIONS are often used

on Type "U" Preventers as they can be connected or
disconnected in a fraction of the time required for
API flanges. Cameron Clamp Connections have
ample strength for mechanical loads encountered in
severe drilling service. Any Type "U" Preventer can
be furnished with Cameron clamp hubs on vertical
and side outlets. ~

through the pins in the Iront packer. The rubber in the top
7650-8 seal wil/ extend above the ram surface. This excess 01 rubber
is provided to make the ram pack tightly.
Blowout preventer rams must form an in-
stantaneous seal around the pipe and against
each other to seal off well pressure. Design
of Type "U" preventer rams includes many
time-proven features of Cameron's previous
models. Ram packers are self-feeding and
contain a big reserve of Hycar rubber. This
assures a long seal life under all conditions.
Ram packers are locked in place so they
cannot be dislodged by well flow. Packer rub-
ber is bonded to steel plates which confine
it to the sealing area.
Rams for Type "U" preventers can be
1. Ram
furnished to fit any size of pipe, drill collar
or kelly within the size range in the tables 2. Top Seal
below. Stainless steel rams and offset rams
3. Ram Packer
for multiple completions are also available.
Shear rams, for cutting off pipe in case of 4. Ram Assembly
emergency, are also available.

pressure test drilling control hookup and wellhead. The tester
may be used with any type wellhead. The Type "F" Tester is rated
to the API standard mill test pressure of the casing in which it is
used; in many cases this is as high as 10,000 psi.

The tester is attached to drill pipe and lowered into the casing
below the wellhead. Blowout preventer rams are closed and
pressure is built up with a test pump or by filling the hookup with
water and hoisting the tester to provide the desired test
pressure. The latter method is fast and accurate.

The table lists load capacities and part numbers for the
various sizes oftesters. The tester load capacity may exceed that
of the drill pipe, so care should be taken that the vertical load due
to test pressure (cup pressure area times test pressure) plus the
weight of suspended pipe does not exceed the safe capacity of
the drill pipe. A table of standard casing test pressures per API
Standards 5A and 5AX is available on request.

(1) Threads per API Std 7, Box up. Pin Down. Testers with other thread sizes are available at extra cost. When other threads are used. a check should be made to
see if total load capacity of tester is reduced.
(2) Total Load Capacity equals cup pressure area times test pressure. plus weight of suspended pipe.
(3) Cups with special reinforcing can be provided for any size and weight of casing to hold test pressures up to 15.000 psi.
