Ikigai Rule 2:
Take it Slow

The Ikigai Guy

Slow down by doing less.
Literally, put fewer
things on your ‘to do’ list
by making a conscious
choice to have less stuff
that needs to get done.
The Ikigai Guy
Be present.
Being in the moment
slows things down and
allows you to experience
your life in a more
meaningful way.
The Ikigai Guy
Radically narrow your
conversation. Shut down social
media, meet someone in
person or pick up the phone,
and have a focused, honest,
intelligent, funny, meaningful
conversation with just one
other person.
The Ikigai Guy
During that conversation
notice how time slows down
when we genuinely connect
with another person.

The Ikigai Guy

Experience and appreciate
moments in nature. While
in nature our minds slow
down allowing us to be
centered. We connect with
our Ikigai.

The Ikigai Guy

Schedule time in your day for
idleness. This is especially
important when you have
a lot to do. Set aside specific
time to do 'nothing'.

The Ikigai Guy

Consciously engage in
something relaxing. I often
take a break and make
espresso or have a cup of
tea which for me is
relaxing. You could go for a
walk or a run.
Select something that helps
you relax.

Mono-task*
When our minds are racing 100
miles per hour, our bodies tighten,
stress increases and we
lose focus. Focusing on only one
thing allows us to slow down and
breathe. Coincidently when we
slow down our approach we often
speed up the results without the
stress of multi-tasking.

Take it slow.

As Lao Tzu said...

"Nature does not hurry, yet
everything is accomplished."
