For Kindergarten in an Inclusion Classroom

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
K - Identify the sequence of a butterfly’s life cycle.
S - Illustrate and demonstrate the life cycle of a butterfly.
A - Show appreciation on the importance of a butterfly’s life cycle through different
activities.
II. Subject Matter:

High Tech: Pictures flashed on screen, PowerPoint Presentation,

III. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities

 Classroom rules

B. Motivation
 Draw a KWL chart on the board.
 Ask students what they already know about the life cycle of a butterfly. Fill in
the "K" column.
 Ask students what they would like to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly
and fill in the "W" column.
 Play the "Butterfly, Butterfly!" by Harry Kindergarten Music song.
 Pick out key words from the song, such as butterfly, caterpillar, chrysalis,
and egg.
 Include a picture and a simple definition for each word.
C. Lesson Proper
 Read the informational text, “The life cycle of a butterfly”, Maragano. (n.d.).

 Pause throughout the read aloud to check for understanding about the
concepts in the book.
 Model a think aloud that shows students how to make understanding between
the book and what you know about the topic of butterflies from your own life.
For example, say, “I find it interesting that a simple EGG, turns into a
LARVA (CATERPILLAR), and becomes a PUPA (CHRYSALIS), and
finally becomes an ADULT BUTTERFLY.
 During the lesson proper, the teacher will integrate the following subjects:
Math (Determine and Count)
Science (Identify)
Language and Literacy (Spell and Articulate)
D. Activity
The teacher will divide the class into two (2) groups each of with four (4) members.
Instruct the students to act the life cycle of a butterfly in a creative way. Either
through jingle, drama, singing, etc.

E. Generalization
The teacher will review the students about the things being discussed.

F. Evaluation
The teacher will provide worksheets to the students. (But since it is online class, the
teacher will also give activities through google form.)

IV. Assignment
Using different art materials, create a scrapbook on the ‘Life Cycle of a Butterfly’ and
present it to the class.
