PRINCIPLE 4

„Accept responsibility for the short and long term consequences of our own communication and
expect the same of others‟

1. LOVE QUARREL

This is a representation of couples having an argument. Open communication with your

partner and taking responsibility over the outcomes and consequences will give you growth
instead of complaining and blaming each other. Apologizing when you have done something
wrong shows that you are taking responsibility. Other people will reciprocate those things you're
showing them. We need to practice ourselves to communicate ethically, by knowing what is right
and what is wrong.

2. BE A RESPONSIBLE SPEAKER
This photo is about the recent issue of an actress/ host/ influencer “Kim Chiu”. In a segment
of their show which aired live on television, she mentioned that "nakakainis yung mga maingay
na pusa ang sarap buhusan ng mainit na tunig". As a consequence, many netizens and animal
lovers got angry and bashed her. As part of being influencer and considering communication
ethics she must take responsibility about her statements. So, she apologized to people through
her social media which shown on picture above. In general, as influencer they should realize how
much impact every word they say and post to their audience.

3. ENGAGE WITH POSITIVE DISCUSSION

The photo shown above depicts two people with different political views. As the election
nearly approaching a lot of people express their own view and their own choice of candidate.
Believing then sharing fake or distorted information, spreading hate posts about other candidates
except your own choice is an unacceptable. You have a responsibility not only yourself but to the
people around you. As they always say “Respect mine and I‟ll respect yours”. Let people speak
their mind because we need this so we can finally progress. Engage with a positive discussion.
4. NO EXCUSES

Accepting Responsibilities comes with consequences, regardless if it is short term or long

term. I chose this photo as representation of accepting responsibilities because Effective
communication requires responsibility. Be accountable of your own doings, speak clearly, and
actively listen to your fellow communicators to show a good example.

5. IN-CHARGE

The human figure raising hand with light in the picture represents as a speaker. While the
rest of the figure represents as the people who are listening to you. It shows that as a speaker the
spot light is in you. You should accept all the comments and feedbacks you will receive from the
people who heard your statements. As a speaker, be considerate with others as they consider you
also.
