System (CNS)
-serves as the
main processing
center for the
entire nervous
system.
 Central Nervous System (CNS)
Two main components:

located within
the skull that
functions as
organizer and
distributor of
information for
the body.
 Three main parts of
the brain:
• Cerebrum
• Cerebellum
• Brainstem

Ø the part under

cerebrum
that
controls
posture,

Ø medulla oblongata

channel for signals
between the brain
and the rest of the
body, and controls

musculoskeletal
reflexes without
input from the
