When we sift through the portfolio of one's life experiences, we may uncover a particular event that

changed the course of their life, or rather lifted the veil that was obscuring their vision of life's real
purpose. I trace this life-changing moment back to a project I did in my third year of undergraduate
studies; recalling this experience brings me great joy because it represents everything that I love about
engineering. The entire process, from ideation to exploring technologies that were completely new to
us, to finally reaping the rewards of collaboration in a product or service left me amazed. Our project
was a system for disposing of medical waste in order to reduce poisoning of health line workers who
come into contact with it. Thus, along with the sheer joy of creation, what struck me was the possible
impact our project could have, and even how it may be life-saving. Having realized how valuable
Electrical and Computer Engineering is to human life, I just could not resist participating in it. Along
with this, I also recognize that to truly effect change I must master advanced concepts and knowledge,
which has led me to your prestigious master's program.

Growing up and learning about technological advances left me with a desire to learn and engineer
things, and after discovering that the latter overrides and complements the former, I found myself on
the doorsteps of Loyola-Icam College of Engineering and Technology as an Electronics and
Communication major. My undergraduate studies served as a springboard for growth as I gained
exposure to different realms of knowledge as well as honed my technical skills. During this time, I
particularly enjoyed a few courses. The courses of Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing,
and Electronic Devices helped me to develop solid engineering fundamentals. One of my strongest
areas was Mathematics, and I enjoyed applying it to engineering problems and developing my
analytical skills. On the other hand, taking Python and Data Structures courses provided me with
invaluable coding skills. I also enjoyed taking a course in Artificial Intelligence as my elective purely
out of an interest in its applications. Additionally, it was immensely helpful to be able to implement
all the topics learned in lectures in the lab sessions of Digital Processing, so our skills in MATLAB,
addressing modes of digital processors with the Texas Instrument processor TMS320C6713, and
coding in C were greatly enhanced. Also, while actively participating in technical seminars,
competitions, and paper presentations, I have enhanced a host of soft skills, including communication,
teamwork, leadership, and oral presentation skills. During this time, I also completed two implant
trainings: one at AIR (All India Radio), which provided me with a practical perspective of the
communication techniques and concepts we studied theoretically; and then the other at BEL (Bharath
Electronics Limited) which gave me a perspective of how digital signal processing was used in the
field because it is applied to many tanks and aircraft.

Alongside classroom pursuits, I relished completing projects where I can put what I have learned into
practice. These were opportunities for me to sharpen my skills as well as make a positive difference in
the world. In one such project, we devised a medical waste segregation system using artificial
intelligence and image processing to make disposal safer and environmentally friendly.  On the
learning side of this project, I mastered tools and technologies such as MATLAB, Arduino ide, and
fritzing for electronic design and on the recognition side, we had our project enter the finals among
400 participants of PALS IIT INNOWAH. For my next project, I attempted to solve the problem of
filter bags being used in a variety of manufacturing processes. In this case, testing filter bags is an
expensive operation because the available testing devices require scanning electron microscopes and
customized PCs. Therefore, I built a portable and low-cost fabric quality analyzer where a digital
microscope and hardware were used to replace the traditional scanning electron microscope. It is with
immense pride that I recall that this project reached the quarterfinals of the Texas India Innovation
Competition and received funding of 22k.In my final year project, I utilized supervised learning
algorithms to identify intracranial hemorrhage, one of the most difficult conditions to diagnose and
treat effectively. From doing this project, I gained in-depth knowledge of Python scripting, machine
learning tools such as NUMPY, SCIPY ECT that helped me land an internship with Remocare
Solutions as an AI intern.

Invigorated by my accomplishments, I wanted to expand my knowledge and apply it to the real-world

problems faced by the medical industry.  Presently, I am interning at Remo Care Solutions, where I
am responsible for a project that aims to monitor heart rate conditions and identify heart pauses using
HR noise filtering and HRV analysis, which are a few parameters to identify arrhythmia. My chief
duty is to research medical topics and create reliable code that would be used in hardware to identify
the previously specified parameters. Since the analysis was done using live ECG patients' data, I
honed my skills in the application of digital signal processing and machine learning using python.
Further, I am also in the process of developing a web-based application API with flask, which has
given me the opportunity to learn API development in depth. This experience has also given me
insight into corporate culture and enhanced my team-working skills. Besides my internship, I have
published a paper titled, “Skin Lesion Characterization with Ensembles of Machine Learning and
Deep Learning Models” in the highly coveted journal of Springer. In this study, we developed a
model for detecting skin lesions using an artificial intelligence model and image processing.
Publishing this paper has ignited my zeal for research as well as strengthened my resolve to focus on
leveraging technology for the medical community.

My quest for intellectual and spiritual fulfillment has led me to pursue a master's degree program from
your esteemed university. While here, I am hoping to acquire advanced knowledge to one day realize
my goal of becoming a Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist in the medical field or any other
field in need of urgent attention. Having gained extensive experience, I intend to launch my company
in the medical domain to help doctors and patients thrive in a tech-infused world by acting as a bridge
between mankind and technology.

I find no university more suited to realizing my dreams than <name of university>, which has a
reputation for academic excellence, a stellar faculty, and a diverse student body. There is no doubt
that the meticulous course structure, state-of-the-art facilities, and embedded internship opportunities
will greatly improve my professional and personal competencies. I am also looking forward to
working in the USA, where I can take advantage of challenging study environments and keep up with
technological advances to see my practical knowledge blossom over the years. Withal, the
technologist in me rejoices at this chance to delve into technologies of our day, and as a human being,
I aspire to use technology to make the world a better place.
