CPR and First Aid

A. Yes. Based on the Red Cross video I watched regarding the steps before giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR), the steps are the same as what is specified in Video 1. Both videos showed that the rescuer must check the
scene first for safety. Then, check on the person. Assess the person by asking, "Are you okay?" Next, if the person
does not respond immediately, call for assistance: 911 or Red Cross 143, prepare the AED, and then return to the
victim. Then check for any signs of breathing and check the pulse before performing rescue breathing.

B. The situational condition that the affected person in Video 2 experiences is fainting. The passenger suddenly feels
discomfort or does not feel very well, causing him to faint. The good thing is that he was able to notify or alert the
flight attendant that he was not feeling well before he collapsed. An immediate response was given by the flight
attendants on board, and yes, the first aid step was applied to correspond to what was specified by the Red Cross.
Based on my research, they follow the same procedure. They both ensure that the person being helped is able to
wake up and breathe normally after fainting. Then they helped the person rest. They get the first aid kid and see if
the person has been injured. And the last thing they both do is monitor the patient’s condition.

Fire Safety
A. The meaning of the acronym PASS is about fire safety, as shown in Video 3. P for Pull, pulling the pin in the
handle of the extinguisher. A stands for Aim, Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire. The third letter is S, which
stands for squeeze. Squeeze the lever slowly. And the last S is for Sway. Sweep from side to side. PASS is the
easiest and most convenient way to remember the proper steps or procedures to extinguish a fire, which is
followed by any establishment.

B. One benefit of a hotel fire safety system, as shown in the video, is that the system can discern between cooking
steam and a real fire in order not to cause any false alarms. It is a great aspect of the system because it is the
latest technology on the market and it has really intelligent detectors. Another benefit of hotel fire safety
systems is that when all the alarms activate early, it will give the employees and guests more time to evacuate
the building.
