Researched alternative compounds/medication for gout/hyperuricemia. Extracted organic
metabolites from natural products. Examined the xanthine oxidase inhibitory (XOI) activity of
20 different plant species endemic to the Philippines. Determined the level of XOI effects of
sample metabolites.

Research Assistant Intern
Prepared hydrogel coating. Examined oil/water separation efficiency of coated mesh. Devised
methods for sample characterization. Performed sample characterization such as contact angle
measurements, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis, and scanning electron
microscope (SEM) analysis for the study "Inorganic-organic thiol-ene coated mesh for oil/water
separation" under Dr. Al de Leon and Dr. Rigoberto C. Advincula.
