WORKSHEET 2
Name:
1. ACTUATOR The part of a limit switch that transfers the mechanical force of the
moving part to the electrical contacts.
2. OVER CURRENT Any current in excess of the rated current of the equipment or the
ampacity of the conductor. Overcurrent may results from an overload, short circuit,
or ground fault condition.
3. Across-the-Line Starter( Full Voltage Starter) A device consisting of a contactor
and overload relay to start a motor at full voltage and to protect the motor from
overload.
4. OVERLOAD Operation of equipment in excess of its normal full-load rating, or a
conductor in excess of rated ampacity that, when it persists for a sufficient length of
time, will cause damage from overheating.
5. AUTOMATIC Self-acting; operating by its own mechanism without human
intervention.
6. AUXILLIARY CONTACTS Contacts in addition to, and electrically isolated from, the
main power contacts which function in unison with the main power contacts.
7. OFF-DELAY A device that does not starts its timing function until the power is
removed from the timer.
8. ON-DELAY A device that has a preset time period that must pass after the timer has
been energized before any action occurs on the time contacts.
9. OVERLOAD Operation of equipment in excess of its normal full-load rating, or a
conductor in excess of rated ampacity that, when it persists for a sufficient length of
time, will cause damage from overheating.
10. PRESSURE SWITCH switch is a form of switch that operates an electrical contact
when a certain set fluid pressure has been reached on its input.
2. TEMPERATURE SWITCH
3. CONTROL RELAY
4. SELECTOR SWITCH
5. MAGNETIC CONTACTOR
7.TIMER RELAY
8. PUSH BUTTON
9. OVERLOAD RELAY
