DECK MACHINERY
Any defects to ship’s hull , machinery, equipment to be recorded and sent to office periodically to further
follow up with ABG Shipyard.
Main engine MCR 129 and NCR 124 but ship maintain RPM abt 120-122 to control consumption at 26 MT .
M/E has equipped with electronic governor and bearing wear monitoring system which will much utilize
engine performance and safely monitor of all bearings. Note that during sea trial found cross head pin lub oil
plugs were detached /slack fm unit 2,3,4 cause lub oil pressure down same rectified all unit by STX. However
M/E Consumption declared to charterer for 26 MT/days (including S/gen inused ) which to be carefully
maintained consumption within limit and if any deviations appear same to discuss with office.
CHARTERER MAY ENQUIRE SHIP FOR ECONOMIC SPEED WHICH NEED TO BE DISCUSSED / CONFIRMED BY
GCSHIP ONLY. AS OUR TEST RECORD FOUND SHIP PERFORMANCE OF ECONOMIC SPEED 12 KNOTS WITH
CONSUMPTION ABT 21 MT AND 13 KNOTS WITH CONSUMPTION ABT 23.75 MT ( W/O AUX BLOWER
RUNNING AND SHAFT GEN ONLOAD )
Aux engine HIMSEN 2 nos. installed and each can be put into standby mode while other in operation , Shaft
Generator 1 no. provided with 2 range from 70-124 RPM which believe will never be missed from operation
range of M/E however consider to put S/G on load even M/E RPM need to be reduced unless much RPM
fluctuation , rough sea.
This S/gen can be parallel with other Main generator as require. Note that after ship delivery standby mode of
A/E to S/Gen notice malfunction.
Shafting system : Intermediate shaft bearing found damages due to foundation bolts slacks same bearing
opened up for inspection / polished then fitted back by KEMEL maker. Temperature & Foundation bolts to be
strictly checked every watch at sea.
Aux boiler : Presently working satisfactory but need closely observed and ensure all safety function in order
as checklist.
Purifiers : Working in order , Belts spare must be onboard for 100% and Make sure LO Purifier running at all
time , To immediately report to office if any purifier out of order same to put into defect list.
Five cargo holds located at fwd of accommodation , All are block type ( Double hull ) and no.3 C/H assigned as
Ballast hold, Bunker tanks located vertically as bulkhead between no.3 & 4 C/H so All precaution to be taken
while cargo loading or hot work carry out.
Cargo hold provided with fixed CO2 fire extinguisher system and no.3 Ballast hold CO2 Line to be blanked by
spectacle flange, also Electrical fan trunk to be blanked by covers ( kept in M/H) before start ballasting no.3
C/H. Pl note that water ballast line for no.3 C/H always kept blanked by spectacle flange in Duct keel and
need to be opened before starting.
Paint in Cargo hold must be used standard epoxy paint as per instruction from Maker only , Do not
allow improper or modified paint use in C/H as later it will flake off causing heavy claim to owner.
Ballasts tanks were PSCPC coating guarantee by JOTUN which need closely monitor for any paint defective.
Ballast operation managed by remote control system in Ballast room.
All ballast pipes,bunker pipes and bilge line arranged in Ductkeel ( Pipe tunnel) and inspection to be carry
out monthly basis as several time pipe ,joint were leakage.
The vessel is designed for log/timber cargo and all lashing equipment supplied onboard at delivery time
which need to be well maintained and update inventory after use.
Hatch cover operation / sealant to be much attended by ship staffs as found defects on delivery, Hose test to
be carried out periodically to ensure all in order. Hyd ram rod to always cover with maker’s canvas. Hatch
cover hydraulic pump unit located in Mast house where need to open ventilation fan when hyd pump operate.
Main & return hydraulic lines were located inside void space and connect up to each hatch control box.
Deck crane 4 nos. each 30 tons located between each hatch. This deck crane MCGREGOR is quite modern
model and equipped with new design / electronic control which need carefully attend by operator, hence ship
staff to be studied for all correct procedure operation and strictly follow. Note that NEVER bypass / reduce
any safety functions/switches for deck crane w/o permission from owner. Ship crane no.1 cabin damaged by
mistake handling of shipstaff same repaired in Nov 11. NEVER use deck crane when heavy rolling or beyond
control.
Windlass and Mooring winches are equipped with FLUTEK Kawasaki with good performance work and
before start operation to ensure oil level in tank is normal and cooling water supply from E/R , Machinery
room ventilations to be opened. Do not keep the pump running without any operation for long time. Notice
that Windlass , Hatch machinery rooms are enclosed space so must ensure that room ventilate before pump
starting.
Report windlass shaft bearing ( bushes ) 2nos. damages due to locking pin loose cause greasing not reach the
bearing and same ignore by ship staff , Hence make sure all Deck equipment greasing work must be done
properly if any problem of greasing point then to report to office immediately and put into defect list
Oily water separator ( VICTOR UK ) equipped with Oil content meter Maker: SMART CELL BILGE
( RIVERTRACE ENGINEERING LTD , RTE ) which record data of operation as per IMO Rule and All Engineer
must familiar with procedure to retrieving the IMO Data from this meter , Manual had forwarded onboard
FOR 109309 IMO DATA DOWNLOAD PROCEDURE. Ensure spare of filters and granular to be on boarded.
One free fall Lifeboat and one rescue boat are provided for this ship and all ship staffs to be strictly learned
about its operations , Make sure L/B release mechanism testing as schedule.
1. ISM- The vessel has SMC issued by NK. It is imperative that master /ch engr should be well versed
with company operating procedures and safety manuals at the earliest, to avoid trouble with various port
state controls. Pl note psc has full powers to check/question individuals on ISM and if not found satisfactory,
can even detain the vessel.
The very important aspect of ISM is dealing with non-conformities. Pl note raising and dealing with non-
conformities and proper corrective action taken indicates the efficiency of the system.
Planned maintenance system for hull and machinery to be strictly implemented. There should not be any
overdue item at any given time as this is being often checked by external auditors during SMC cert
intermediate and renewal survey.
Note : All documents maintaining to be followed ISM guideline and if any documents need to maintain only in
Danaos need not hard copy to office , But some defect list may require for ship’s follow up / back up. NCs to be
opened through danaos once require and same to notice to office again through email.
3.Bunkering: It is of utmost importance that a responsible officer monitors drip sampling during the
entire period of bunkering and a proper representative sample has been taken and sealed.
Representative of bunker barge should be invited to witness sampling at vessel bunker station. One
bottle of sample to be given to bunker barge, one bottle of sample to be retained on board. One
sample to send to MARITEC Lab Singapore as per their instruction.
4. Overtime for all crew members to be given strictly on basis of nos. of hours worked and restricted to
150 hrs as much as practical. It is often noticed that saloon staff OT exceeds the limit set by the company.
5. Whenever a vessel is redelivered after completion of time charter, the redelivery
certificate/telex/cable must be claused that the holds are delivered back unclean even they are cleaned by
sweeping.
6. Almost document in Danaos has been complemented on this vessel hence all to be record in danaos
system , Store / spare / procured store,spare to be updated once get it onboard as soon as possible with
actual quantity receipt enable GCSHIP proceed payment. Let us know if any problem occur in danaos system.
8. CMS ( Continuous machinery survey ) to be done continuously onboard by C/E with report keep / print
into the files enable to hand over to next C/E for next annual survey CMS Submittion.
ADDITIONAL ( IMPORTANT )
-Ship special survey and docking carried out at LONGSHAN SHIPYRD IN JAN 18 , Work done asp additional
list below..
Ship equipped with Full EDCIS ( 2 nos. ) and paper charts is not required unless some area ENC not available .
For order ENC you have to plot on manual and indent only necessary ENC only ( Auto plotting to be avoided
as it will demand a lot of ENC concern )
- Whenever ENC indent through Danaos same to be repeated order with order list through Gcship
email ( as sometime company may not reach danaos on time )
- Ship equipped with Shaft Generator and no MDO consume at SEA , but make sure safe operation of MGO to
be reserved ( at least safe to reach bunker port ) as S/Gen may out of order anytime. However Ship’s
generator engine can be used HFO in emergency as modified line in last DD
- Cargo hold to be UT testing by equipment ( supplied onboard ) every 3-6 month in convenience voy then
submit report to office as well as Hose test ( which need to spray direct into joining surface through drain
channels )
-Report windlass shaft bearing ( bushes ) 2nos. damages due to locking pin loose cause greasing not reach
the bearing and same ignore by ship staff , Hence make sure all Deck equipment greasing work must be done
properly if any problem of greasing point then to report to office immediately and put into defect list
- Never allow crews to work on deck when rough weather and order to be strictly announce and door to be
locked with notice.
- Pilot combination ladder P&S has been renewed at last drydock and to be maintained in good condition and
kept ready to use at all time.
- Pl note that company assign LS MGO TANK to FO TANK NO.2.4 to use in ECA AREA , Hence Tank to be
cleaned and reserved for future LS MGO when calling ECA AREA , Flushing procedure in/out to be strictly
recorded.
-- Ship had contracted with MARITEC Singapore for BUNKER OIL analysis , Hence to drip sample ( with
Maritec bottles ) and to take sample 3 set as usual , To offland to MARITEC Lab as their instruction.Small
quantity bunker sample need not to offland for analysis ( less 300 MT.)
- Not allow oil contaminate in to Engine room bilge wells ,S/G room bilge well , Fwd store bilge wells and so
far E/R bilge has no any leakage source as all pumps are mechanical seal if any water ingress then to be
seriously investigate , some oil contaminate from air bottle,air comp drain line to put into bucket filter before
drain into Aft bilge well. Water drain from Air cooler is contaminated with dirt oil which will dirt to OWS
same this TANK 6.10 to be cleaned regularly ( 1-2 monthly basis ). Engine room bilge well to be tidy cleaned ,
well painted , proper light in each and if can’t monitor oil film then cover to be removed. OWS Spare to be
always maintained 100% onboard.
- Waste oil ,sludge to retain onboard not over 50% of tank’s capacity and waste oil tank to heating to
eliminate water for sometime before feed to Incinerator. ( not to drain water into E/R Bilge )
- Soft coyp of Last page of log book , LO/Chem/Gas inventory, ME AE performance test to be sent to office
along with other monthly soft document.
Spare part consumption to be made monthly basis by engineer then spare part ROB to be updated correctly,
soft copy of spare part consumed to be send in one folder along with other copy. When ship is in robbery area
such as Indonesia Important spare part fuel v/v, nozzle,TC Spare, expensive tools , etc which can carry by
hand need to bring and keep in Engineer cabin.
-Spare part replacement / renewal for M/E & A/E concern to IAPP certificate to be recorded correctly into
Engine technical file back pages.
Please note when making a phone call to office, chief engineer should accompany master in the normal
circumstances.

Ship carried out Special survey no.1, docking survey, Boiler survey, CMS , Cargo gear load test
& annual by NKK zhoushan. Ship’s Certificate and document issued on 17 Jan 2018 asf.

Hull : Most of hull coating is in fair condition ( previous coating with JOTUN ) but observe
small fouling on bottom side around 40% area same sweeping out . Hull area coating with
JOTUN antifouling paint “Sea Quantum Pro U”
Cargo hold :
All C/H s grit blasted and 2 coat of epoxy paint applied and final coat change to RED color. Air
trunks in C/H chipped and painted. Damages part in CH repaired.
Staging fitted to all C/H to get best output of C/H treatment.
C/H Ventilator louver,mesh upgraded by ss and about 10 nos mesh renewed. C/H Fan and motor
4 nos. overhauled as low insulation / 1stb. motor burnt.
C/H bilge valves overhauled by SY.
Deck General
- SR and SE survey , speedlog / echo sounder serviced by SEVENSEA China.
-Spare anchor supplied onboard and secured on cross deck no.4 aft.
-Anchor chains cleaned and marked on dock . Chain locker P&S cleaned, mud removed and
painted.
-LSA FFA , CO2 bottle hydrotested , Hospital serviced by Wisdom.
-L/B, Rescue boat davit load tested and 5 years serviced by Wisdom. Boat painted , davit rollers
renewed , holding pin corroded same recondition by SY. Rescue boat engine gasoline renewed.
Davit wires renewed.
-Hull gauging for Special survey #1 with Hungkia marine approved by NKK.
-Monorail cranes load tested 3.75 MT P&S. / wire renewed
-Pilot ladder small support repaired p&s and load tested
-Accommodation gangways p&s load tested and wires renewed.
-Bridge A/C installed by shipyard , O/S.
-Main A/C evaporator no.1 renewed by SY and press tested.
-Magnetic compass and compass spare calibrated at sea by SY.
