SECTION III: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: White powder with a mild odor. Slippery when spilled. A high level of dust in the atmosphere may
present a dust explosion hazard. Under these circumstances, keep away from heat, sparks, and open
flames. Ground all equipment.
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS:
EYE: May cause slight irritation
SKIN: Repeated or prolonged exposure may cause skin irritation
INGESTION: No hazard in normal industrial use Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal discomfort.
INHALATION: May irritate the nose, throat or respiratory tract
CHRONIC EFFECTS: None Known.
CARCINOGEN: NTP: Not Listed IARC: Not Listed OSHA: Not Listed
CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED: None Known.

SECTION IV: FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE: Flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists consult a physician.
SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persists. A burn from molten material
should be treated as a thermal burn. Hot material tends to cling to flesh, especially after solidifying. Cool as soon
as possible. Seek medical attention.
INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Seek If vomiting occurs spontaneously, keep had below hips to prevent aspiration. Never
give liquids to an unconscious person. Seek medical attention.
INHALATION: If exposed to excessive levels of dust or fumes, remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen and
seek medical attention.
ROUTES OF ENTRY:

SECTION V: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

FLASH POINT: >232°C (>450°F) FLAMMABILITY LIMITS: LEL: N/D UEL: N/D
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water fog, foam, dry chemical, and CO2.
FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Emptying packages may generate Static Electricity. Cool containers with water spray. Combustion
may generate hazardous fumes. Avoid breathing smoke & fumes. Dust in the atmosphere and on
surfaces may present a dust explosion hazard (for more information refer to OSHA Bulletin Com-
bustible Dust in Industry: Preventing and Mitigating the Effects of Fire and Explosion and NFPA
654: Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing,
and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids).
FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT: Use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and full protective equipment.

SECTION VI: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Warning, spilled material will be slippery. Remove sources of ignition. Sweep up material. Avoid generating dust. If material is molten, at-
tempt to confine the spill until the cooling material solidifies, then scrape up and dispose of properly. Keep spills and cleaning runoff out of
municipal sewers and open bodies of water.

SECTION VII: HANDLING AND STORAGE
Maintain under Proper Storage Conditions. “Proper Storage Conditions” means storage in sealed containers in cool (0° to 50° C [32° to
122° F]), dry, well-ventilated areas. Avoid excessive temperatures, freezing conditions, and sources of ignition. Avoid humidity and moisture.
Do not contaminate product.

Fine powder/dust may cause eye and respiratory irritation. Use with adequate ventilation.

SECTION VIII: PERSONAL PROTECTION

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Wear a NIOSH/MSHA approved dust mask or respirator if airborne concentrations are not main-
tained below the Exposure Limits.
EYE PROTECTION: Wear ANSI approved (Z87.1) safety glasses with side shield, or goggles. Wear safety glasses and face
shield when working with molten material.
SKIN PROTECTION: Wear impervious gloves and long sleeves to minimize skin contact.
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Provide general and/or local exhaust ventilation to control airborne levels below the exposure guide-
lines.
EXPOSURE GUIDELINES: OSHA PEL: 15 mg/m3 (Nuisance Dust) ACGIH TLV: 10 mg/m3 (PNOS)
