Evaluation Criteria

 Model that passes the Load Test with Minimum cost – 70%

 Creativity – 15 %

 Small Write up explaining background of design – 15%

 In case two models are received with the same cost, the one received earlier will be
considered to rank higher.

 A Team can submit only one model.

 One person can’t be part of more than one team.

Note: In case of any discrepancy, conflict - EDCC decision will be final and binding.
Designing the Model

 Use the In-Software Help->How to Design a Bridge, to understand the interface.

 After design is complete, test bridge using Test ->Load Test option

 You can view results of load test using Results -> Load Test Results. Ensure that after load test,
no member is indicated by RED or BLUE colour. It indicates the member is failing and should
be changed.

 Model found with failed members will be disqualified.

 Check your total cost under Report -> Cost Calculations

 Iterate your Design, until you arrive at a design which satisfies the load test condition at
lowest cost.
Design Problem and Objective

Design Problem:
 You are a civil engineer working for the Uttar Pradesh State Department of Transportation.
You have been assigned responsibility for the design of bridge across Sarayu River,
Ayodhya.

Design Objective:
 Satisfy all the specifications & constraints, while keeping the total cost of the project as low
as possible.
How to install the Software

 Unzip the Bridge Design Kit and Install the Bridge Design Software.

 Take Assistance of your local IT team to do the software installation.

How to install the Software

1. Click on the Setup file shared via One

Drive Link to install the software.

2. Click next till the software is installed.

3. You can run the installed software from

your Start Menu. No shortcut is created
on the Desktop.

 On running the software, you come to the following screen

 Select -> Create a new Bridge Design and Click Ok.

 For Deck Elevation, select 24 m meters. Selecting any other deck elevation will lead to
disqualification.
 Support Configuration to be selected by participant. Then click next.

 For Deck material, select Medium Strength Concrete (0.23m thk). Selecting the other material
will lead to disqualification.
 For Loading, select Standard 225 KN Truck (Two Lanes). Selecting the other load will lead to
disqualification. Click Next.

 Design the Model

 Load Test Animation

 Before Starting the Design ensure your Project ID ends with Letter ‘A’.
 If not there is some error while selecting deck thickness or loading.
 Any deviation will lead to disqualification.
Submission Time!

 Save your Model as “Team Member Name”.

 Send the entries to edcc@afcons.com on or before 09.09.2020.
 Only one submission is allowed per team.
