Beliefs are one of the caused of the Bias here in the Philippines. People have
their own beliefs in life but sometimes such beliefs blinded us from learning. An example
is the Marcos apologist, people are aware of their bad deeds in the past but still
believed that they are the right one who can resolve the problems in our country. They
negate the fact that the deeds of that family traumatized the others, they only look at the
benefit or the advantages that we got in the past. Second, nature of the work, we lived
in the time where people will have comments on any of the action they saw regardless
of if it is bad or good. Due to the beliefs of the people of they saw a person doing their
job but is against their belief then they believed that they are against a particular
situation. An example of these is the tough questions Jessica Soho has thrown to the
presidential candidate that she got to interview, but Marcos’s supporters did not like how
she work then they accused her of “biased against Marcos” where we know for a fact
that’s how she does things and Marcos is not the only person asked to answer tough
questions. Third, partisanship, they can easily tamper information using money if they
want to just to make it favorable for them. Fourth, market forces, this causes bias in
Philippine journalism in a way of promoting or marketing information. It markets
information which are favorable on the good side getting the sympathy of the people
having this might lead to wrong information.

In conclusion, the concept of Bias in journalism always favors one way or another
regardless of the cause or the effect, there will always be a journalist who favors a side
of the story, who filters and selects which story to publish to negate the negative side of
the story or to forget a tragedy. In additional, being bias does not always mean negative
it depends on whether the information is a fact or a tampered lie.
