Topic: Jose Rizal Behind Fake News

Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda was best known for his political
writings that helped inspire the Philippine revolution, he was also known as a national
hero (Pambansang Bayani) from our country named the Philippines. Where in his
writings he was able to use those to open the eyes of the Filipino citizens and fight for
their freedom in a silent but powerful way where he was also able to express his love for
the Philippines through his writings which are his novels, poetry and also his essays.
Jose Rizal also played a major part in the country from the struggles of independence.
In this generation nowadays Jose Rizal’s photo was being used for advertisements and
memes often that disrespect some of the citizens, for they take him for granted. And
with fake news that is still being held to this day, they were able to claim things that are
not being approved, where there were no other sources nor evidence that were found.

Fake news is known by its article that was being fabricated with no sources and
with no verifiable facts which nowadays is named or known as “clickbait”, where this is
designed to mislead some of the readers unless they were able to have other
references to prove that what they are reading is wrong or also known as clickbait, with
opening other peoples sources with their own thoughts and their own facts. With this
going around it has impacted the citizens where they weren’t able to lead a campaign
for economic, social and political freedom from our country. The problem of Fake news
was caused by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s supporters who shared false
information about fake crimes such as sexual references against others. These
individuals were able to use a specific source as a weapon to persuade other people or
readers.

Nowadays Facebook was known to become one of the popular apps that were
mostly being used by the Filipinos for the advantages given to them, from this app it
was also known for them as the main and the only way to get more information (such as
news, and updates on what has happened from other countries). Facebook was even
able to partner up with the network providers through phones with the use of free data
whenever they are using the app, that’s why there were 97% of citizens that we're able
to use this system whenever they were stuck in traffic and only 66% of citizens were on
Facebook. But with them getting to use their data for different other websites would be
likely to cost more money or data and this is already expensive for them. With the app,
some problems occurred from some posts, from what they read online is what they
already believe. Furthermore, since fake news is dangerous from many countries, the
Facebook company was still making progress to lessen or reduce fake news to not
confuse the readers who are reading an article.

From a known source Jose Rizal has taught us about the danger and difficulties
of reading and spreading fake news. As he was a member of the Propaganda
Movement during their time they were able to experience those types of attacks from
newspaper editorials. They are recommending equal rights and justice and for better
education to the Filipinos. How was Jose Rizal able to handle this type of situation
which is still happening till this day?, a specific source has said that he did not do
anything nor he didn’t involve the situation to a public harassment but rather continue
for the sake of Justice. Rizal has also taught us that knowing the truth is difficult for us
to believe or to not with their misconceptions, fake news and misconceptions we should
learn to accept it. And that we should not take it for granted, just accept it without a
question or an objection that you want to give to them.

From the writings of Rizal, he displayed the word “obscurantism” a word that
defines deliberate prevention of the spread of truth, a practice in preventing the full
details and facts of something that was starting to be known everywhere. As a student,
we couldn’t do anything about it, we don’t handle the World Wide Web (WWW). What
happens from the past or before will still happen to this day which is the present. What
we can only do is to avoid these types of information that was given to us through our
mobile apps, through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and etc.), and
basically the World wide web. Since technology helps us get access to the internet and
know more information try to be able to search for other references afterward to know if
this source is true or not to make the situation easy and better for the reader. It is similar
to doing your research, knowing and finding its source and references to prove if this
study is true or not like what they say “Google it”. With the fake news going around and
that has spread through Facebook this can lead into having major impacts to
themselves, our President Duterte was able to arrest political opponents that involves
arresting journalists. With the advantages of journalists and individuals getting arrested
for spreading fake news this helps lessen to have false information that will be posted
through online to not make readers be confused.
