The valve shall be complete with two colour coded pressure tapping ports. Independent means shall be
provided for positive isolation on pressure tappings.

If the unit is not isolated during system flushing the flow cartridge shall not be fitted and a blank flushing
cap installed.

The stem and test points shall be provided with extension pieces to allow for insulation.

Body material: DZR copper alloy CW602N

Maximum Pressure: 25 bar (PN25)
End connections: Threaded to ISO 228

For fan coil units a combination of automatic balancing valve with full stroke modulating control (that
guarantees 100 % authority) shall be used for high precision temperature control. The valve should
have two independent movements for the presetting and modulating function. The automatic balancing
valves shall be combined type, with autoflow and fully modulating control features. The intelligent
control valve shall adjust itself automatically to the preset flow in order to provide full stroke modulating
control. When the valve is preset according to the maximum design flow, the stroke of the control valve
shall remain the same thus providing 100% modulating control. In practical terms, the valve shall
ensure that no overflow can occur and that below the design flow, the actuator has total authority.

The valve design should consist the following:

automatic balancing cartridge or other acceptable method of regulation

modulating control component
presetting scale
electrical actuator

The presetting should be done after flushing and the same should be tamper resistant when actuator is
mounted. The differential pressure operating range shall be up to 450kpa.

The presetting of the valve shall not influence the length of stroke and the cartridge can be removed
without dismantling the valve.

rings, PN25 rated, female threaded ends.

The modulating actuator shall be normally closed, suitable for 24VAC power supply, 0-10V DC control
voltage, 5mm stroke and to be provided with manually operated clutch. The valve actuator shall be IP
40 rated.

The valve adapter should be supplied along with all actuators.

The valve shall be complete with fully modulating 0-10V actuator. The valves shall be capable to
operate with differential pressures of up to 450Kpa. The valve actuator shall be IP 40 rated, 24 or 240v.

Pressure independent control valves

Each Air handling unit and fan coil unit shall be provided with a dynamic temperature control valve.
These valves shall contain a differential control and temperature control element. The valve shall be a
dynamic type that shall enable it to automatically keep a constant differential pressure across the
internal controlling orifice of the valve. Consequently pressure drop fluctuations across the valve shall
not effect the set flow. The control signals input and feedback shall automatically adapt to the pre-set
range of the valve. The valve shall also have a maximum pre-set adjustable flow rate limit. The actuator
shall be provided with a fail-safe function powering the valve to a safety position during power failure
utilizing an internal rechargeable battery.

A. All modulating control valves shall be pressure independent and provided by the same
manufacturer.
B. All control valves shall be industrial quality and must be fully rebuildable. Valves shall be
designed to last 30 years or throughout the life of the facility.

C. All PICVs shall be equal percentage by design itself, converting linear characteristic valve by
actuator to equal percentage should not be proposed.
D. The control valve manufacturer shall provide written guarantee that the cooling coils will meet
or exceed design delta T performance at all load conditions as projected by an ARI certified coil
program at time of commissioning. The valve manufacturer will reimburse the full purchase
price of the valve if this performance level cannot be met.

E. Balancing valves and associated balancing shall not be used where pressure independent
modulating control valves are installed. The control valve must have the ability to limit flow to
the maximum design flow specific for each coil at all valve differential pressure ranges of 5 to
90 PSID.

F. Valve shall require no more than 5 PSID to operated pressure independent. Flow shall not vary
more than +/-5% through the entire operating pressure range of 5 to 90 PSID.

G. Each control valve shall be individually flow tested and factory verified to deviate no more than
+/-5% through the entire operating pressure range of 5 to 90. All valves shall be tested on a
test stand calibrated and verified with traceability to NIST standards. All testing must be
performed at 5 PSID (0° through 90° at 10° increments), 15 and 90 PSID (45° and 90°). Test
reports must be provided if requested.

H. Each control valve shall be factory commissioned. A calibrated performance tag shall be
provided with each valve listing the measured flow rate in 10° rotation increments.

I. Control valve rangeability shall be a minimum of 100:1 through the operating pressure range.

J. (DZR). Valve bodies 3 80mm]

[200mm] shall be ductile iron. All internal parts shall be brass, carbon steel, stainless steel or
Teflon®. Plastic internal parts are not acceptable.

K. All valves shall have (3) factory installed pressure/temperature ports to allow field verification of
flow and pressure independent operation. If ports are not provided, contractor shall supply and
permanently install a magnetic flow meter to allow for flow verification for each control valve.

head pressure. Valve assembly and actuator torque shall be selected to close off against this
differential pressure.

N. All valves shall be warranted by the manufacturer for no less than a full 5 years from the date of
purchase. The warranty provided by the actuator manufacturer shall apply to actuators.

Valve actuator

- Valve actuator housing shall be rated to IP 55

- Actuator shall be driven by a 24VDC motor, and shall accept 2-10v VDCV, 4-20mA,
pulse width modulation electronic signal and shall include a resistor to facilitate any of
these signals.
- Actuator shall be capable of providing 4-20mA or 2-10v DC feedback signal to the
BMS control system.
- All actuators shall be fail safe closed with spring return function.

Valve Housing

- Housing shall be constructed of ductile iron ASTM A536-65T, class 60-45-18 rated at
no less than 4000 Kpa and 120oC.
- Identification tags shall be provided for all valves; tags shall be indelibly marked with
part number, production date and differential pressure range Tags shall be
aluminium.
