Translation Exam

1. Sense for sense translation is the oldest norm for translating. Which has meaning,
translates the meaning of each sentence in its entirety before moving on to the next, and
stands in normative opposition to word-for-word translation (also known as literal
translation)
2. A.) Intraligual translation
Intralingual translation (intraligual translation) is a translation carried out in the same
language.
This translation translates into a language, namely by re-communicating a meaning with
a different text in the same language.
B. ) Interlingual translation
This translation sends the text in its entirety into another language both in terms of meaning
and form.
This intralingual translation is what we usually know as translation in general.
C. )Intersemiotic translation
Intersemiotic translation is an act of language transfer, from verbal language to non-verbal
(written) language.
This translation can be easily found in the subtitles of the film. For example, the actors in
the film speak in English, while the subtitles are in Indonesian.
This is a translation from verbal to non-verbal language.
3. In mathematics, an equivalence relation is a kind of binary relation which is supposed to
be reflexive, symmetrical, and transitive. An example of a well-known equivalence relation is
the “equals (=)” relation.
4. This is the difference between idioms and proverbs
Idioms are defined as phrases that contain their own meaning but cannot be
understood in layman's language.
A proverb is defined as a well-known sentence which is used to give advice to others.

6. Trados
The translation process is often long and complex. When translators use a tool
like Trados to improve overall translation quality and efficiency.
7. I think I can only brand myself as a translator if I have skills in fluent English and
understand the language itself so that I have enough confidence to brand myself as a
translator
