During the Chinese New Year celebrations last year, my family and I went to visit

our grandmother in Perak. We departed from our house which is located in Kuala
Lumpur at 7 o’clock in the morning so we did not get stuck in the traffic jam. Along the
journey, my mother told us that our grandmother loved to tell stories to her when she
was a child. So, our mother insisted that we go ask our grandmother to tell stories to us.
About 2 hours later, we safely arrived at our grandmother’s house. My siblings and I
went to greet our grandmother. She gave us a hug. She smells good. entered the house
after we finished packing out our luggage from the car bonnets.

As we entered the house, I sat together with my grandmother on the floor in front
of the television. Then, I excitedly asked my grandmother to tell me stories. “Are you
sure you want to hear it? I thought you wanted to play video games on your ipad.” my
grandmother replied. I sighed. “Yes! Please tell me”. She put her index finger on my lips
quickly. Hundreds of years ago, back when animals could still speak to each other, a
white, stripeless tiger walked to the edge of the jungle and peered out at the paddy
fields where the rice was being grown. He noticed a boy enjoying his lunch under a
banana tree. A buffalo, who was also taking a break from his labour ploughing the
fields, could be seen not far away. The colossal beast swishes his tail to swat the flies
away.

The tiger crawled forward on his stomach slowly, pulling himself through the
grass with his strong arms, and when he was behind the buffalo, he said quietly, "Don't
be scared." I came to seek guidance from you, not to fulfill my need. Because I'm
curious, please tell me the answer to my question. I've been watching your master, the
dwarf. He lacked strength and a strong sense of smell. His hands aren't powerful, and
his teeth aren't razor-sharp, but he has you under his control and forces you to work for
him. You, on the other hand, are a massive beast with incredible strength. You're twenty
times his weight and size, and I'm confident that you can hold your own against the best
of the jungle's beasts. I've heard that man's power is coming from something called
knowledge. So, buffalo, tell me what knowledge is. "Where does he get it?" you might
wonder.
"Hit me, I don't know," the buffalo said. He chewed the grass greedily. "How
come you didn't ask him?".The tiger found the buffalo’s answer useless. The tiger
thought the buffalo was dumb. He then rushed towards the boy carrying a heavy bundle
and shouted, "Do not be scared, little boy, because I have not come to fulfill my hunger."
I've come to seek knowledge. Please respond to my question, as it confuses me. What
exactly is this thing that men refer to as knowledge? What does it represent? What was
the source of it? "Won't you let me have some of it?". "Knowledge is very valuable," the
boy said calmly as he wiped the sweat from his brow from fear. "Should I actually give
you some of it?". "The decision is all yours," Tiger continued, "but did you hear that
sound?" My tummy grumble. I have not slept or eaten in three days, so this question
confused me, but I'm starting to feel like I can eat now.".

A deep rumbling sound could be heard by the man. "Of course, I'll gladly share
my knowledge with you," he replied to the tiger. But I'm worried I've forgotten about him
today. I'll go get it for you now. I'm scared the locals will be afraid if you return with me.
"Are you willing to wait for a moment?". The tiger sniffed the boy. "I'll wait," the tiger
said, fearfully walking around the boy before responding, "but make sure you come
back, otherwise I'll visit you at your farm tomorrow, and next time I might be hungrier
than curious.". The boy began walking away from the field, but only took a few steps
before turning around and saying, "Please forgive me." I was concerned with the
thought of leaving a hungry tiger with my animals. Will you allow me to tie you to this
tree while I seek knowledge? That way, my concerns would disappear. The boy was
worried.

The tiger was concerned that the guy would reconsider his decision and share
his knowledge. He imagined a great power that he could use with only a little knowledge
and wisdom , with his power and a little human knowledge, he could rule over every
creature that walked, crawled, swam, or flew over the globe. The tiger agreed to let the
man wrap a rope around her body and legs and tie it to the trunk of a banana tree
because the tiger was so excited for this gift. The guy and his three sons soon returned
to the farm. Each person carried a sprig of dry straw with them.

"I've kept my offer in this place. "I have given you wisdom," the man said, and he
and his brothers put straw on the ground beneath the tiger. The boy then set fire to it.
The tiger was scorched by the blazing orange flames. He roared in agony until the fire
burned through the ropes, allowing him to flee to safety and run to the river, where he
cooled his burning feathers in the cool water. The tiger fainted. The tiger's wound healed
over time, but his body remained orange-striped where the fire had burned it and black
where the rope had tied it.

“So that is how the tiger got its stripes,” said my younger brother. Later, we went
to the dining room to eat together as the food was already prepared. We enjoyed the
food hungrily.
