Motivation

Before I’ll start our today’s activity, do you

have any idea on what is curriculum or

curriculum planning?
- (Answer may vary)

Okay! Thank you for your ideas. You all have

the point and you are all correct. Now, today

we will be going to discuss the topic related to

this.

B. Lesson Proper

So, this topic is all about the Elements of

Curriculum Planning.
So, there are 4 Element of Curriculum

Planning and these are Curriculum Intent,

Content or the Subject Matter, Learning

Experience and Evaluation.

Kindly read Mr. Tindog the first Element.

- Curriculum Intent is the direction

that curriculum developers wish to

take as result of participating in the

curriculum. It includes aim, goals

and objectives.

Thank you, Mr. Tindog,

So, CURRICULUM INTENT. From the word

intent meaning intention, the intention of the
curriculum. That’s why it states there that the
curriculum developers wish to take as a result
of participating in the curriculum. It includes
aim, goals, and objective.

So, what are these 3?

Number 1 is Aim. Aims are the broad

statements of social or educational
expectations meaning in the curriculum or in
an educational plan there are somewhat like
we expect that the students would learn. They
include what is hoped to be achieved by the
entire curriculum. Remember the word hoped
in familiarizing the word aim in the elements
of curriculum, it means that they hoped that
the target of the entire curriculum plan would
be achieved.

Number 2 is the goals. Each of us are familiar

what is goals right? Goals are statements
more specific than aims. They are general
statements of what concepts, skills, and values
should be learned in the curriculum. So,
remember that the keyword of aim is “hoped”
while goals is “should” there are somewhat
like difference between the two.

Number 3 is objective. Objectives are specific

learning outcomes. They include what specific
concepts, skills, and values should be learned
students. Usually, objectives are by the used in
making decisions or planning about instruction

What are the differences of aim, goals, and - (Answer may vary)
objective? Can I call Ms. Abejaron?

Thank you, Ms. Abejaron.

So here are some examples

Aims. Students will understand and become

proficient at identifying the different types of
spoken English.

Goals. Students will be able to identify and use

American slang terms and phrases.

Objectives.
• Cognitive: Students will identify and list 5
slang terms they have heard from their peers.
·
• Affective: Student will choose 3 of the most
offensive slang terms from a list developed by
the entire class. ·
• Psychomotor: Students will create
expressive gestures to go with their favorite
slang terms.

Let’s go to the second Element

Content or Subject Matter

Kindly read Mr. Cabus

- (It refers to the topics based on the
curriculum intents. It may include
values, concepts, or skills that are
important for the learners to learn.
It is another term for knowledge. It
is a compendium of facts, concepts,
generalization, principles, and
theories.)

Thank you, Mr. Cabus.

Let’s go to the 3rd Element which is LEARNING

EXPERIENCES

They include all instructional strategies that

are useful for the implementation of the
curriculum.

These may appear in the form of activities,

strategies, methods, or approaches that are
useful in implementing the curriculum in
teaching content.

The last one is the Evaluation

Evaluation includes the different ways and
tools used for evaluating whether or not the
curriculum intents were realized. Evaluation
tools are also used to evaluate the
performance of the learners after they have
undergone the curriculum.
