REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1425

AN ACT TO INCLUDE IN THE CURRICULA OF ALL


PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND
UNIVERSITIES COURSES ON THE LIFE, WORKS,
AND WRITINGS OF JOSE RIZAL, PARTICULARLY
HIS NOVELS NOLI ME TANGERE AND EL
FILIBUSTERISMO, AUTHORIZING THE PRINTING
AND DISTRIBUTION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES

WHEREAS, today, more than any other period


of our history, there is a need for a re-
dedication to the ideals of freedom and
nationalism for which our heroes lived and died;

WHEREAS, it is meet that in honoring them,


particularly the national hero and patriot, Jose With including all work and life of
Rizal, we remember with special fondness and Rizal in the curricula of any school,

WHEREAS, the 19th day of June of 1961 will be


the First Centenary of the birth of Jose Rizal,

WHEREAS, Jose Rizal gladly dedicated his whole


life in order to secure for his countrymen the
blessings of individual freedom and good
government;

WHEREAS, through his incessant labors he


enriched our cultural personality and thereby
enhanced it in the eyes of the world and by
defending our rights and dignity as a race to the
extent of sacrificing his life, he welded the
Filipino people into one compact nation imbued
with common national ideals; and
WHEREAS, by example and precept he showed
us what a true Filipino should do and, therefore,
it is the duty of the Philippines to propagate his
ideas and ideals of private as well as public life
for the emulation of his countrymen and of all
peoples;

SEC. 2. All departments, bureaus, offices,


agencies and instrumentalities of the
Government, including government-owned or
controlled corporations, are hereby directed to
extend the fullest support to the National
Heroes Committee in the performance of its
functions.
