Sarangani Manobo and B’laans of Jose
Abad Santos, Davao Occidental,
constituted 80% of the population of this
municipality, and the original inhabitant of
Davao.
• They live in 26 barangays spread across
600 square kilometers or equivalent of 73,
443 hectares, with Caburan as its center
and has a total population of 69, 631 in
2010 (NSO figures)
• The Jose Abad Santos was the most
vulnerable to the encroachment of
agribusiness plantations and mining, causing
detriment to Lumad communities.

homelands, with the civil society
support to the issuance of the
Certificate of Ancestral Domain
Title (CADT).
