1. What makes the Lumad in Mindanao Unique from other indigenous tribes in the
country.
- The culture of the Lumad people is very rich and varied, including a broad variety of
languages, chants, ceremonies, dances, and other customs. Not only do they
demonstrate the artistic ingenuity of the locals, but they also reveal how the
indigenous' beliefs, customs, and way of life are represented in the objects. These
cultural dances have persisted for a very long time. The Lumad people have not
adopted the lifestyles associated with the contemporary era. They continue to this
day to choose living in the mountainous areas of Mindanao, where they may
continue to follow their customary way of life. The jewels that each lady wears and
the woven outfits that they wear are clear indicators of their religious beliefs. They
have a strong faith in gods and spirits.

2. What are the important contributions of lumads to the development of Mindanao?

- The territory that the Lumad people of Mindanao consider to be their ancestral
home served as the location for 226 projects that generated development and
utilized the key resources in the area. Taking into consideration the data from the
year 1980, there were 110 logging concessions, 92 grazing projects, eight mining
concessions, four plantation companies, four industrial tree plantations, four
government reserves, and four power producing facilities. In addition, the Lumad
Development Center Inc. asserts that more than 1,179 million hectares of Lumad
ancestral lands have been transformed into development projects. In all, this
encompasses around 11.6 percent of the entire geographical area of Mindanao. This
does not include 31 projects and concessions in Davao City that were developed by
American and Filipino groups, since their coverage status is uncertain.

3. Why is there a need of preserving the culture, values and traditions of the lumads.
- A people's national identity may be defined by its values, beliefs, and goals, all of
which are reflected and defined by their culture as well as its legacy. For the sake of
retaining our distinct identity as a people, the conservation of our cultural
inheritance is of the utmost importance. It is the responsibility of museums,
libraries, archives, and other cultural organizations to keep their collections in good
condition and make them available to the general public. This is an endeavor that
can present a number of challenges related to intellectual property, particularly in
this day and age of digital technology.
