7. THE MAINTENANCE OF INSTRUMENT

The importance of the maintenance

Since the hematology analyzer is composed of hydraulic, pneumatic and electric parts. In
order to get the best working status, the instrument need the routine maintenance. The
frequency of maintenance would affect the accuracy and stability of the instrument.

7. 1 Daily Maintenance

1. The start up shall be operated when first switch on the instrument.

2. The showdown program shall be strictly executed after one day work.
3. After 30 samples, make a “maintain” program.
a) Prepare cleanser and probe cleanser, if you do not have probe cleanser, just using
cleanser is okay .
b) In the main menu window, press the right key of the mouse, select
“Service/Maintain”. Operate as the screen shows.

- 37 -
7.2 WEEKly Maintenance

Drop the cleanser or concentrate cleanser into the RBC and WBC cups. Soak the cups for
half an hour.

7.3 Monthly Maintenance

Use the silicon oil in the accessories bag to lubricate the white piston.
Use the solid grease to lubricate the two bars (pointed by red arrow) in the following picture.
Please note only the solid grease, the liquid grease is forbidden to use.

If the instrument has not used for one week, please make “suspend” program in the “serve”
menu to ensure the cleaning of the hydraulic part. Routinely check the reagent tube
connection, probe cover, probe, plastic turntable module and syringe module. The relevant
adjustment or replacement is required.

8. TROUBLE SHOOTING

8.1 Aperture blocking.

Problem: After blocking, the test results would be lower or showing “***”( Because
HL-3125Plus has the aperture voltage testing function, when the tested aperture voltage
showing abnormal, the matched channel testing results would show “***”)

Analysis:
8.1.1 The testing sample volume is big, lack of maintenance. The instrument is easy to block.

- 38 -
8.1.2 Reagent expired or out of reagent or unoriginal reagents causing the fake block.
8.1.3 Circuit fault
Solutions:
1. Make the cleaning and enhanced cleaning to remove blockage. Take out aperture making
soak or replacement.
2. Replace with original reagent.
3. Check the log, if long time not making “start up”, the instrument would give fake blocking.
Note: Each time executing “Start Up” with the panel close (making “Start Up”, the two panels
of the instrument shall be closed), the instrument would collect the aperture voltage in two
times blanking testing. If long time not makes “Start Up” with panel close, the fake block
would happen. So the “Start Up” with panel close shall be made after replacing aperture.
4. Check if the aperture voltage is between 0.7~0.8. Replace the driving board if confirm the
problem.
8.1.4 When the test results coming with star *** or “Hole plugging holes suspected, please
re-test”, it maybe caused by the defect of aperture, chamber or driving board.
But it also maybe caused by the improper recording of the aperture voltage by the instrument.
The followings are the procedures to enter the interface of checking aperture voltage:
1. In the“Main Menu”, click Service”to“Serve”interface.

Figure 8-1 “Main Menu”

2. Click “Check” in serve interface. The password request window will pop-up. Make the
operation as the figure 8-2 and 8-3 as follows. Click “Key On ”, the soft keyboard will appear,

- 39 -
input “7211”.

3. In the “Check” interface, click “Sample” to enter sample interface. Make the operation as
shown in figure 8-3 and 8-4.

Figure 8-3 “Check”interface Figure 8-4 “Sample”interface

4. As shown in figure 8-4, in the red circle, the aperture voltage V1 and V2 are shown. “V1” is
for WBC aperture voltage. “V2” is for RBC aperture voltage。Click “T” for checking the
current aperture voltage. The normal range of the voltage shall be around 0.7-0.8 more or
less.
If the voltage is beyond the range, please make clean or flush in the service menu. And then,
make “Shut down” program, after that, switch on and make the “Start Up” again. Please close

- 40 -
the panel during the whole process. In this way, the instrument would record the new voltage
value.
If the problem still could not be solved, then the aperture, chamber, tube connection and
driving board are all need to consider and check.

8.2 Poor repeatability

Problem: When the blank testing is qualified, testing one same sample, the discrepancy of
test results for one item or many items is big.
Analysis:
1. The mixing of the blood sample and operation method.
2. Reagent contaminated, expired or short.
3. The dispense volume of lyse is not sufficient.
4. The pneumatic system has problem, the positive pressure and vacuum are not stable.
5. Other outside interference.
Solutions:
1. Improve operation method to ensure the good mixing. Use venous blood for testing could
reduce the interference of human factors on the stability of the test.
2. Replace the reagents.
3. Check the valve 9 and relevant tube concerning with lyse.
4. Open the left panel of the instrument and check the movement of the instrument part
during mixing and discharge. And make the maintenance of the syringe module, like
lubrication, etc.
5. Check if the installation surrounding meets the requirements. Especially the position of the
reagents, is there any interference? The power supply and ground(≤0.5V) shall all be checked.

8.3 Abnormal test results

8.3.1 WBC, HGB test results are correct, but RBC and PLT are low.
Analysis:
1. In plastic turntable module, the belt is too tight which make the probe can not reach its
position. Then the second aspiration volume is not reach the required 20μL.
2. The dust between belt guide and belt fixer produce resistance which makes the probe can
not move smoothly up and down. It also makes the short aspiration volume.
3. Aspirating rotate cover is fixed too tight affect teh moving of probe, especially in low
temperature.
Soultions:
1. Adjust belt.

- 41 -
2. Remove dust and make lubrication.
3. Pay attention to the aspirating rotat cover, not fix too tight.
