Unit Welcome back Letter to Parents

Dear Parent/Carer,
Welcome to Hooray! Let’s play! B, your child’s kindergarten English course. During this year your child will
regularly bring home a letter from English class like the one you are holding in your hands right now. This
letter will inform you about the topics and material that your child will get to know during their English
lessons in kindergarten. The letter will also contain ideas and tips on how to support and encourage your
child’s English.
The Welcome back Unit reintroduces the children to the Hooray! Let’s play! characters from Level A. This
unit also revises some of the vocabulary which your child learnt in Level A.

Tips for parents

Your child will be encouraged if you show an interest in their learning and progress with English. Don’t
try to make your child tell you what they have learnt in the English lesson, wait until your child feels ready
to talk to you about it.
Look through the worksheets and other material that your child brings home from their English class. Play
the Songs & Chants CD included in the Student’s Book and listen to the songs that your child knows from
class. In the letter for each unit, we will give you the song lyrics so you can sing and perform the songs
and chants together at home. Your child will learn actions for most of the chants and songs during their
English lesson and can teach you these while you are listening to the CD at home.

Content
The Welcome back Unit includes:
• a chant to welcome the children back to the English classroom
• a story about the Hooray! Let’s play! characters meeting and greeting each other; this story
encourages the values of friendship and being friendly
• a song to practise saying Hello and It’s good to see you all again.
• worksheets that include stickers, colouring, circling activities and completing sequences as well as the
Hooray! Let’s play! characters
• lots of other activities and games.
