To instill the love for poetry and develop recital skill of students, Grade 1 and 2
had the English Poem Recitation on 12th Sep 2022. The students presented the
poems with proper rendition, voice modulation and appropriate pronunciation.
The session started with introduction and each student recited the poem with
great zeal. At the end teachers appreciated and applauded the performance of
the students.
Also, “Word of the Day” contest was conducted with equal zeal and enthusiasm
by the shinning stars of grade 1 and 2.
In the time and age of auto-correct, predictive text and spell check, the Spell-
Bee competition for Grade 3 students held came as a whiff of fresh breeze. The
Spell-Bee competition for Grade 3 was conducted on 14th September 2022 in the
KG Hall. Students participated with great enthusiasm and duelled through the
toughest words to prove their mettle.
Children have an innate love for stories and keeping this mind, the students of
Grades 4 and 5 participated in the “Character Silhouette” competition, where
they got the chance to get into the skin of their favourite character. This helped
the students to enhance their knowledge about their favourite book character
and give their creative streak a chance to express.
Reading is a vital part of a child’s learning experience and to enact a scene from
the story that they have read can be a life-changing experience for a child. To
horn their acting skills and present a scene from their favourite story book, the
6th graders competed in the “Scene Enactment” competition.
In the quest to make the students to be able to locate and evaluate important
information about their favourite books and authors, the activity for Grade 8
was “Poster Making” where the students made colourful posters and social
media pages by compiling important facts and create a fake social media page
of their favourite book or character from a book.
“The quickest way to acquire self-confidence is to do exactly what you are
afraid to do.” To hone the oratory skills among the students, Declamation
competition was conducted for Grades 9 and 10. The participants had to select a
speech of a famous speaker and deliver an excerpt from the speech in 3-5
minutes. Also, the students were given a choice of making short films in groups
by choosing any literary text.
Finally, as every good thing comes to an end, the festival culminated on 15th
September 2022, but left each one of us with memories and learnings that we
will all cherish for a long time !
