LISM Student Council Elections 2022-23

Available Roles:

Middle and High School – Executive Council


● President
● Vice-President
● Historian
● Happiness Ambassador
● Sports Ambassador
● Digital Ambassador

Elementary (G3-6) – Student Council


● Class Senators

Students from G5-10 may also nominate themselves to be part of our new extended team for roles as one of the
following:
● Wellbeing Champion
● Sports Champion
● Digital Champion

Grade Levels and Officers

● All 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade homerooms will have one representative (senator).
● 7th – 10th graders are eligible to serve on the Executive Board.
● Executive Board candidates will record a speech about why they would be a great representative, which
will be shared with each class.  
● The Executive Board will be voted on by every registered voter in grades 3-10, while Homeroom
representatives (G3-6) will be voted on by their homeroom classmates.
● Any student who meets the qualifications and requirements can complete the google form to nominate
themselves for a position.

Academics and Behavior 

● The student council is an extracurricular activity and will follow the guidelines in the handbook.
● No student council member may fail his/her subjects or be put on a behavior plan.
● Students are responsible for their behavior while respecting the rights of all student council members,
guests and fellow students. 
● All students will maintain good citizenship – any discipline issues will result in dismissal from the council.

Attendance

● The student council will meet once per month on a Friday. It is expected that candidates attend all
scheduled meetings
● Additional meetings may be called if required.

● Representatives who miss more than 2 meetings per grading period may be subject to dismissal from the
council

Campaigning

● Each candidate is permitted 1 poster (A3), which must be approved by Miss. Debbie, to display in the
middle and high school hallways (next to lockers) from 26th Sept to election day.
● All posters must be removed by candidates by the end of the election day (30th Sept)
● No handouts, gifts, buttons, or candy to students all allowed. 

● Class Senator elections will take place in the classroom, students may, if they wish, make slides to help
them when they present to their classmates on why they should vote for them.

Important Dates:

Wednesday, 14th September Process begins


Wednesday, 21st September Deadline to submit required documents via google form
Friday, 23rd September Submit recorded campaign video max. 2minutes to Ms. Debbie 
Monday, 26th September Posters may go up

Friday, 30th September Election Day


Posters to be removed
Monday, 3rd October Results will be announced
