APPLICATION FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF ENGLISH LECTURER

I would be grateful if I could be employed to teach English in your most enviable institution.

I am a professional teacher with many years of teaching experience in the basic, senior high
schools, and the university. I am a good communicator, competent and fluent in my field of
studies, and can handle any topic or aspect related to the English Language. I can also teach with
ease and confidence. In addition, I have gained skills in the use of ICT to teach in an innovative
classroom.

My competence will be used to enrich the knowledge of students during and after lessons. For
instance, my knowledge of grammar will help my students to overcome their mistakes in the
spoken language as they progress. This will boost their confidence in the use of English and their
writing skills. Having taught in the university part-time for some time has also exposed me to the
challenges faced by undergraduates and non-native speakers of English. Among such challenges
for students include appropriate use of tenses and pronunciation of words containing consonant
clusters. I believe practice and a lot of oral activities will enable them to overcome these
challenges.

One challenge I expect is the language barrier. I expect to find difficulties in understanding the
native speakers who cannot express themselves well in English. However, I have already started
experiencing this challenge in the city and Google Translate is providing the solution. Besides, I
have a pocket notebook in which I write some unfamiliar expressions and vocabulary for my
tuition. Before going to the classroom, I also prepare in advance, envisaging possible language
barriers during lessons.

As a way of reviewing my teaching for development, I make an account of or reflect on my

approaches and methods of teaching after school to know how to improve upon them. I also do a
lot of ò research on the internet to gather appropriate teaching methods, activities, and exercises
on the topics for my lessons to ensure effective delivery and a maximum output of work.

Besides, I hold a teaching certificate, a bachelor's degree, a master of arts degree, and a master of
philosophy degree. The last certificate coupled with many years of practical research in my field
of studies has provided me with the needed skills for academic research work. I hope to lay bare
my expertise in the uplifting of your outfit if I am given the nod. Attached are copies of my
