I’m Kayse Morris, and
I help teachers keep
doing what they love
while making a bigger
impact and income.
I’m a tie-dye, Crossf it, RV and music loving mama of (soon
to be) 5, reader of 3 books a week, former full-time English
teacher, and the founder of the CEO Teacher movement
and I’m here to help you become the creator of your own
future, income, and impact. Using the skills you already
have, of course.

My husband and I came f rom very humble beginnings -

two broke young love birds in a one-bedroom trailer with a
window unit air conditioner that we had to thaw out every
night with a hairdryer to where we are today. I started
selling my teaching resources f rom the kitchen table in
2013 after grappling with a four year long stint through
deep (and I mean deep) postpartum depression.

Fast forward to 7 years of intense learning and trial and

error later and I’ve not only mastered the online teacher
business game but I’ve helped thousands of other
teachers break through the classroom glass ceiling and
bring their wildest dreams to life.

Nowadays I get to work on a 1908 farmhouse for fun, crank

The Grateful Dead/Widespread Panic tunes whenever I
want, and hang out with my family in our RV while still
doing what I love and YOU can do the same…

Determine your goals, vision,
and frequency for your business

Selling your teaching materials online can be a huge boost of income to you and/or your
family. Even if you already sell your resources online, you may f ind this workbook gives you
clarity and focus on your mission to becoming a teacherpreneur. The fact that more than a
handful of teachers are now millionaires f rom selling their resources should be enough to
convince you that this is a smart investment of your time, money, and energy.

As a teacher, we work hard for our students. We create meaningful lessons that impact our
kids year in and year out. For me, it was important to share my resources with more than
just those few students every year. I wanted to impact students f rom all over the world.

Let me hit you with some good news, you’re already doing half of the work. It’s time
you start making money to make your work seem less like a chore and more like fun.
This workbook is important when setting a clear focus for your business goals. Goals are
imperative. This is a business, right? Everyone should be able to participate, if they’re
willing to do the work. Let’s f irst work on your top 6. We like to call these the CEO Teacher
Vision of 6. They get placed on our vision board, and we refer back to them when we need
motivation or inspiration.

Remember, I’m here to support you and uplift you whenever you’re feeling less than, my
motto is there’s room for everyone on the playground. Let’s get busy. Please take a few
minutes to carefully plan out the next few pages in our workbook.
These will be our roadmap throughout this journey, and will help you to always
remember your passion, your goals, and your vision.

It may seem like these 6 have nothing to do with starting your teacher business, but sister
(or brother) they have EVERYTHING to do with it. Getting a clear focus on the CEO Teacher
Vision of 6 will help you remember you why when things get tough, because they will. On the
next page you’ll see the CTV6. I want you to write a sentence or two about each goal you
have.

Make it a specif ic and measurable goal that looks something like this.

H E A L T H : I want to focus on eating 10 healthy meals a week while making sure to go

outside 3 days a week with my kids.

T R A V E L : Once the pandemic is over (because it will be over one day) I want to take my
family to Hawaii and I will save $3,500 to take on our trip by November 1, 2021.

D E B T : I owe $23,543 in credit card debt that I will pay off by December 31, 2021 with my
money from my teacher business.

H A P P I N E S S : I will f ind my happiness in creating resources for other teachers and

students around the world by committing to 2 resources a week.

I N S P I R A T I O N : Whenever I feel lost or confused, I’ll put The CEO Teacher Podcast on and
listen to each episode that airs on Wednesdays.

F I T N E S S : I will join a Crossf it gym and workout 4 days a week in 2021.

Before you can get after your goals, we need to talk about vibrations. Have you ever walked
into a room and felt good or bad energy? Everyone puts vibrations out into the world, and
it’s the rate of those vibrations (frequency) that determines your wellbeing. You need to f ind
your home frequency. I’m not talking about your house; it’s not even a physical place. This is
the place where you feel at peace, grounded, and at home within yourself. When you raise
your frequency to that level, you will stop repeating old reactive patterns, and start
receiving guidance and vision f rom your highest self. Raising your f requency will take you
further than you ever thought possible.

Please take a few minutes to carefully consider your goals, vision, and home f requency on
the next few pages. This will be our roadmap throughout this journey and something you
can return to time and time again to refocus your energy on what matters most.”

Determine Your Passion and Niche

What are you most passionate about in the classroom? What is the thing that other teachers in
your building ask your advice on or compliment? What topic of teacher conversation lights you up
inside, where you could go on forever talking about it? We’re going to use THAT passion to create
the business of your dreams.

If you're feeling that you have a few ideas brewing in your mind and don't have one specif ic
passion, I totally get it. I LOVE learning and teaching about historical f igures. I love teaching my
students about their stories and lives, and creating resources on them. But, I also LOVE classroom
management, and I'm really good at it. Teachers complimented my class for being well-behaved.
So, what's a teacher to do when you are multi-passionate?

Use the "Niche Finder" on the next page to determine your main thing. Even though you have
many talents and passions, your business will be so much more successful if you hone in on one
main thing. We call it your north star, and everything in your business is built around it.

Create a Brand Name
for Your Teaching Business

This one really stumped me for a while. I didn’t really see the signif icance of naming
my “business” because I didn’t classify myself as a business. At the beginning, I sold my
resources on one website and thought that was enough. I didn’t realize the marketing that
needed to take place day in and day out. I don’t want to discourage you, but there’s so
much more to making money f rom your teaching resources than just creating them. I know
some amazing teacher authors who have given up because they simply didn’t know how to
market their businesses.

Try to come up with a name that is easy to remember, but that can also become a brand
name. Please, please, please don’t use alliterations to come up with a catchy teaching
name. In my honest opinion, I think that is an overly used and an extremely underwhelming
way to get recognized.

Be unique. Be different.
Feel f ree to still use your name in other aspects of your business. I want to be known as
Kayse Morris and The CEO Teacher. Since I am branching out of the online teacherpreneur
world to a more entrepreneurial approach, it’s important for me to target my new audience
outside of teaching. My new blog and business will be The CEO Teacher. This will embody
all of the characteristics I want to express in my business. It’s okay if you don’t hit the nail
on the head today. You need time to think and to make sure. Write it down, say it out loud.

Make Your Brand Name Creative,
Unique, and Authentically You!

It never fails. Sometimes I think I’ve created the most revolutionary idea. I’ll think to myself,
“I can’t believe no one has ever thought of this before.” I’ll hop on my computer and do a
quick google search only to f ind out that people have actually thought of it before. Haha!
Usually that includes an amazing website, social media channels, YouTube account and
more. Then I start back at square 1.

If you’ve already come up with multiple teaching business names and f igured out that a
lot of them are taken, I encourage you to write down 20 or so words that bring you joy that
could possibly go with your brand. Play around with those ideas until you come up with the
perfect name.

Before you get too excited, open up Instagram and make sure that you can secure that
name and username. Please, I’m begging you...be creative. If someone you know is rockin’
it on social media with a name like “CEO Teacher,” don’t go create the name “Teacher CEO.”
That’s not creative.

I have seen so many teacher handles that almost look identical to popular teachers I know.
I’ve even clicked on their names thinking it was a f riend. Unfortunately, it was a person
that didn’t take the time to search and methodically pick out their brand name. Just so
you know, if a brand has trademarked their name and any derivatives of it, you could f ind
yourself in some trouble later on down the road.

Create Your Business Logo

Once you’ve found the perfect f it for your business, it’s time to think of how that name can
mesh with the perfect logo. Feel f ree to go to Powerpoint, Canva, or PicMonkey and create
one yourself or you can go to a place like FIVERR and have someone make one for you for
cheap.

If you know this is something you want to invest in, I encourage you to f ind an amazing
blog designer and have them create your f irst logo. This may cost around $50.00 or so.
Determine if you want your logo to be circular or square.

My very f irst logo was okay at best. At the time, I thought it was the coolest thing in the in
the entire world. I printed business cards, lanyards, and paper heading. Looking back now,
I laugh. Later on, I had a designer design the logo you see below. I had it for years, and I
love it just as much as I did the f irst day. With that said, I’ve rebranded since then because I
have changed directions in my business.

Don’t spend too much time perfecting your logo that it holds you up f rom creating the
business of your dreams, but do make sure it reflects your brand and clearly shows your
brand name and aesthetic.

Determine Your Ideal Customer Avatar

Once you’ve found your name, logo, and social media handles, it’s time to focus on the perfect ideal
customer avatar. For which grade level will you most likely be creating resources? What subject?
Do you want to do multiple grade levels? Do you want to sell multiple subjects? It’s okay if this
answer isn’t perfectly clear. I have just now realized my main passion when creating teaching
resources. I started creating resources for middle school because I was in that environment.

I have an Early Childhood Degree and desperately missed my Kindergarten babies. I decided to
begin making resources for Kindergartners. It really helped my business grow and it’s amazing how
creative you can be when you f ind something you are truly passionate about. My creativity soared,
and my resources became better than ever.

Use each business decision and monumental moment to guide your business, and recognize that
it doesn’t have to be perfect for you to start. Action brings clarity. However, if I could go back and
do it all over again, I would choose my one or two ideal customer(s) f rom the start, and create with
them in mind.

An ideal customer avatar is a f ictional person who you create as the north star of your business.
Give them a name, details, and what they need. What pain points do they have that you can solve?
My ideal customer used to be Kelsey Smith. Every business decision you make, every piece of
content and resource you create, every time you share on Instagram, it all is done through the lens
of serving that person.

Aim to Create Content That
Solves a Bigger Problem

As with any successful business or invention, it’s important that you solve a problem
within the classroom. What can you create that will make teachers’ lives easier?
How will you make sure to implement that strategy while still aligning yourself
with Common Core State Standards? Even if your state is not a Common Core state,
it’s imperative that you remember these standards are the base for other state
standards. Larger websites require that you tag your resources with certain state
standards. Embrace it. It’s the world in which we live.

I’m sure you’ve had light bulb moments in the classroom. You’ve seen that spark
in your students’ eyes and you’ve thought to yourself, “This is the moment.” THOSE
ah-ha moments are what will make or break you in the business world. Finding how
to make those moments shine with other teachers around the world makes you
unique.

Sure, you could make a vocabulary resource that goes over the book you’re reading
to your class, but I promise it won’t be as successful as if you were to create a
resource that solves a much bigger problem.

For example, teachers tend to struggle with classroom management. So I may

choose a specif ic piece of the classsroom management puzzle and solve that
problem with my product lines of resources. Use the next page to break down your
pillar content. What topics in your niche do you want to be known for? How can you
solve teachers’ problems with resources you create?

Brush Up On
Your PowerPoint Skills

This checklist is not going to go in depth on how to create the perfect resource
using PowerPoint. You can easily google PowerPoint tutorials and f igure out
the basics. That’s how I did it. No lie. I googled and YouTube’d as many video
tutorials as I could possibly f ind to teach myself the basics. Since then, my craft
has evolved. It would be pointless for me to show you the step-by-step equation
on how I make my products because they are my products, not yours. You are a
creative being. With that said, I do have some easy PowerPoint tips for beginners
on my YouTube channel if you’re interested. Don’t judge, though - it’s an old
video, and I was really annoying.

You can also look up “font pairing” ideas to help you understand the basics of
design. Uploading a basic product that looks like it was created in Microsoft Word
in 1990 will not result in dramatic sales. I used to worry about what people would
think of me if I posted information about the type of money I make selling my
teaching resources. Those days are long gone. I know countless bloggers who
share their income reports to HELP other bloggers understand just how they
make their money. That’s my goal for my blog as well.

This isn’t a secret sauce recipe that only few can know the secrets. This is a family
recipe that can be passed down f rom generation to generation. It requires hard
work and hustle. You can make a full-time career out of this if you desire. You can
make six f igures a year in a short amount of time if you’re willing to hustle.

You are the only person who can

determine your worth.

Design Your Social Media
Marketing Strategy

You may be reading this thinking, ‘What? A social media marketing strategy? Oh no, I
just want to sell my teaching resources online.’”

Well, unfortunately, in the cyber world we live in, it isn’t that easy anymore. Your social
media marketing strategy can take you so much farther than any other strategy.

Before you totally f reak out, I know tons of teaching businesses that have social media
accounts that never identify WHO they are as a person but constantly get hundreds of
thousands of followers.
I mean, do you know who Bored Teachers are? Have you ever seen their faces? Were
they really ever teachers? Who knows? Who cares? They are rockin’ their social media.
If you aren’t all for sharing who you are as a teacher on social media, it’s okay. You
don’t have to...although I deeply encourage you to try. Nothing creates more fans than
being authentically you.

YO U R H O M E WO R K :

Create a Facebook Business Page f irst then add accounts on Pinterest, Instagram and,
if you desire, Twitter. Truth be told, I don’t know many teachers who are venturing out
on the Twittersphere just yet, but I’m sure there are some out there. Pick one of those
to start focusing on f irst. Read as much information as you can on those topics. For
starters, Pinterest is def initely the best place to invest your time and your efforts.

If you have a solid Pinterest strategy, you can soar to new heights quickly, especially if
your niche is unique and not like any other teaching niche out there. Back in the day,
Speech and Language Pathologist soared to the top of the charts instantly when they
started creating resources. It was fun to watch.

Consistently Produce Content That
Serves Your Ideal Customer Avatar

This is the single most important factor when starting your online business as a teacher
selling his/her resources.

I used to roll my eyes when I’d hear someone say, “Be consistent” because I heard it in
almost every podcast and every blog post I listened to about online marketing. You’d
think after the 100th time I heard it, I would have gotten the picture. Well, for the f irst
year of my business, I was as inconsistent as they come. Some weeks I’d post 10 resources
(albeit not my f inest resources), and other times I’d go months without posting
something because I simply couldn’t f ind the time. Find something you enjoy creating,
and it will be easier than you might think. Once I found a “product line,” I really began
turning out resources on a consistent basis. (More on product lines later.)

It’s easier to create resources when you understand the end goal you must have. When
you can see more and more resources that can eventually add up to a huge money
saving (and money making bundle), you become more motivated than you ever thought
possible.

What are some resources that you’ve been thinking of sharing with other teachers and
students that could be bundled together?

Can you add to those to make the bundle even more appealing?

Can you make a year-long curriculum to really benef it the needs of teachers without
textbooks?

Whatever it may be, make sure you break the list of to-dos down into small digestible
pieces so you’ll be ready to tackle even bigger project.

Give Yourself Grace

Although this may not seem like a legit step towards your business goals, I think this step is
vital. It’s something I didn’t learn until around year 4 in my business. I would get so stressed
with a new product launch that I often neglected myself. I would stay up until 2 a.m. and
wake up at 4 a.m. to work before I went to school. I couldn’t sleep because every time I
closed my eyes I thought, “I should be doing more.

Don’t ever compare your beginning to someone else’s business. A lot of teachers have
been creating resources and selling them online since 2006. I was 19 years old in 2006. I
didn’t even know I wanted to be a teacher then. The fact that I began my business in 2013
and I am where I am today is amazing. I’m so proud of myself. I will no longer compare my
success to someone else’s. It’s liberating, and it makes me take more pride in my work.
Remember, as with all important things in life, this is a journey, not a destination.

As a teacherpreneur, it’s important to keep yourself in check - mind, body, spirit, and
work life. I believe that family and personal development should always come f irst in your
priorities. But I also believe in hard work and taking constant, persistent action forward.
Give yourself grace, but also, don’t let your goals and vision dissapate because you aren’t
consistently going after them.

If you’re wanting quick money and a quick f ix to your f inancial problems, you may be in
the wrong place. But if you’re ready to work hard, take massive action, and prioritize what’s
most important?! Let’s do this thing...together!
