I. Introduction
Globally, one of the things that people consider as part of life necessity is
Work. As for adults and some numbers of teenagers. That is one of the reasons why
students go to school every day. Work is reasonably essential to public economy. In
the first quarter of 2020, a data from Regional Economic Situationer. The Region had
a 95.4 percent employment rate, which was only 0.1 percentage point lower than the
previous year. In the first quarter of 2020, the Region's total labor force was 20.8
million people. Meanwhile, the Region's underemployment rate fell to 14.2 percent, a
0.4 percentage point decrease from the previous quarter. This might be considered
why Work is essential for some people.
If there is a Work truthfully there must be a workplace. A workplace is a place
or an establishment where people work, such as an office or a factory. In this type of
environment, there is a possibility of abuse and violence. Workplace violence is often
classified into four categories: violence by strangers, violence by clients or
customers, violence by employees, and violence by an employer to employee.
Violence occurs when there is acting dominant among the group which is not
essential and must be suspended.
In addition, this case analysis will focus on determining the key problems that
can result in workplace violence. Moreover, this study will also seek to provide a
solution for the said issue and provide a narrative explanation of the problem.
Furthermore, its objectives must be accomplished in any circumstances. Hopefully
promotes a violence-free workplace.

II. Background
Workplace violence can occur within a group or among employees, or it may
be orchestrated by strangers who are in an organization's premises (Spillan &
Hough, 2003). Workplace violence is defined as any act or threat of physical assault,
harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive conduct at the workplace.
Threats and verbal abuse are common, as are physical attacks and even homicide
and suicide.
As related to my course, I will focus my analysis on the workplace where
policemen and women work. Precincts, Barracks, and other related offices. What
possible type of workplace violence may occur in such an environment and its
consequences. Moreover, to find the solution to the said problem, we must first
identify the types of workplace violence and its risk factors.
There are at least 4 classifications of workplace violence. First, employee-to-
employee. This type of violence it’s the most common workplace violence. Coworker
violence is also known as lateral or horizontal violence. It encompasses bullying and
is typically manifested as verbal and emotional abuse Regardless of how unjust,
rude, vengeful, and/or humiliating it might be, homicide. Worker-on-worker violence
is frequently directed towards people who are seen to be weak. "Lower in the food
chain," as in a supervisor to a supervisee or a doctor to a nurse. Despite the fact that

3
peer-to-peer violence is prevalent. This course delves into the Worker-on-worker
violence has its roots in healthcare settings.
Second is Criminal Intent. The attacker has no real connection to the
company or its workers, and is generally conducting a crime alongside the violence
(robbery, stealing, etc.). trespassing). For instance, a nurse assaulted in the hospital
parking garage; a home invasion While on a home visit, a health care nurse is
robbed. To expound, this type of workplace violence is most likely impossible to
happen during working hours.
Third is Customer-to-client or vice versa. We can affirm that there are
circumstances where we can witness or heard where a customer or Client violated
another person. There are shreds of evidence of transcripts that can easily be found
on social media networks. For example, Saleslady discriminate verbally and
assaulted a customer because of nasty odor or the Customer keeps yelling at the
Cashier because the change was lacking.
Fourth is the Violence by Outside Person with a direct connection with an
employee. This is where the word “Backer” may occur. Grudges from an outsider
can influence and manipulate someone’s understanding of the person or situation.
For example, the employee is the Daughter-in-law and the violator is the Mother-in-
law. The mother-in-law is a close friend of the CEO’s secretary. As for their
movement, Ms. Secretary was asked to double the work of the Violated, The
daughter-in-law.

III. Evaluation of the case

This case analysis studies the workplace violence that can be found on police
stations, barracks, precincts, and other related offices. Even though this kind of place
is full of trained professionals there are circumstances where workplace violence
may exist. There are some cases reported on national TV. Evidence that this kind of
place does not escape from such a thing.
There is no customer inside the precinct. That’s why we will insert another
subject of workplace violence. Although, this subject is not really involved in working.
The most common type of violence in this kind of workplace is where the Boss
offends the employee. Considering, the Chief of police vs. PO1. At work, it is neutral
for a workplace to have someone dominant to control the atmosphere and its people.
However, there will always be someone who will use that power to oppress. By
asking the offended to do more work because of personal ill feelings and so on.
Next is the employee to the customer(prisoner). Police vs. prisoner. Just like
the previous type of workplace violence this type of violence is just the same.
However, the offended is much more powerless to the offender. Commonly, the
offender mostly abides because of fear and powerlessness. For example, A police
asked for the offended to shine his/her shoes, pity, and do inhumane practices such
as spitting.

4
According to the research from Fanshawe College, Chapter 8. Prevalence of
workplace violence. Approximately 21% of those polled had experienced some type
of physical assault. 9 percent had been struck, kicked, punched, or shoved, 12
percent had things thrown at them, 12.6 percent had been threatened / physically
assaulted, 2.7 percent had been threatened with a weapon, and 79.2 percent had
experienced some type of violent behavior. Thus, this results to an ill relationship
where some boldly report the incident and/or resign.
Note, this study does not focus to show the cruel events in the studied
workplace. Its objective is to identify the problems, consequences and seek to
provide a solution.

IV. Proposed Solution/Changes

Abuse of power, is the unfair use of one's position of power to benefit people,
organizations, or governments. Privileged, the overpowering or over usage of the
privilege under their position and inflict fear to the civilian or the person offended.
Slandering is a common action that is present in bullying and emotionally unstable,
where the offender’s emotion is involved. For example, rage against another person
because of a personal matter or work-related. The issues mentioned are the most
relevant problems that are related to our study.
Truthfully, because of human nature. This kind of problem is most likely
difficult to eradicate. However, it is more realistic to say that there are more possible
ways to prevent workplace violence.
In this sort of workplace, it is preferable to delegate the appropriate level of
power to the employees. As a result, officers will conduct and be accountable as a
result of this. Police officers are, in fact, trained. Strict schooling is in place.
Discipline is necessary. Mental health that is stable, clever, versatile, and adaptable.
Is it possible that the person in charge is the source of the problem? Choosing the
correct head of police is also an important aspect in preventing workplace violence.
Regular seminars, briefing and training sessions are one significant shared
action. This activity will center on briefing staff and gathering information from them.
Furthermore, this will improve the interaction between police. They may report
occurrences that occur inside the precinct. Feelings toward coworkers. Employees
will be more mentally stable and healthy as a result of this.
Installing surveillance system. Employees and the public are protected by a
surveillance system. organization. It is also vital to maintain all video footage to
guarantee that there is no violence in the event of a conflict is sufficient to bring the
criminal to justice. There is a possibility that violence inside the workplace is
happening.

V. Recommendations’

5
Solutions are useless if not implemented. Workplace violence is an issue that
inflicts physical and mentally weary. Hence, employees will be scared to go to work
or move according to what is needed. There will always be a limitation because of
fear. This kind of issue will only be addressed if the offended will boldly report. Thus,
the administering officer will ensure the victim’s security. Make some arrangements
to help the two persons settle the grudged.
Moreover, another common thing to apply is setting policy to prevent violence.
hence, if disobeyed. Hence, they will be fined. Determine the organizational risk
factors that may lead to violence, what are the probable risk factors in your firm that
might lead to workplace violence? When mixed with the stress of a personal
problem, employees may become angry and lash out at work. Assess your business
to identify reasons such as operating when understaffed, insufficient security, the
notion that violence is permitted or that victims are unable to adequately report
instances, and many others.
