Instructions: (100 points)

1. Interview at least two (2) individuals who can be considered as primary sources on the
positive contributions of President Cory Aquino to the Philippines or the positive things
that happened during her presidency. Provide the given testimonials and the name of the
account witnesses.
According to our first subject, my grandmother named Amada B. Daya, she stated that the late
president Corazon Aquino’s positive contribution in her presidency was being the most prominent
figure of the 1986 People Power Revolution, which ended the 22 years rule of President Ferdinand
Marcos and led to the establishment of the current democratic Fifth Philippine Republic. Corazon
Aquino created the Presidential Task Force for Science and Technology which came up with the
first Science and Technology Master Plan or STMP. The goal of STMP was for the Philippines to
achieve newly industrialized country status by the year 2000.
Rufina Dumandan, A resident in our neighborhood provides a brief positive statement about Cory
Aquino’s presidency. Mrs. Dumandan exclaims how amazing cory in introducing democracy to the
Philippines and moreover, because of that people in that time are so free and not scared because
martial law was now lifted.
2. Interview at least two (2) persons who can be considered as primary sources on the
negative actions that President Cory Aquino took or the negative things that took place
during her presidency. Provide the given testimonials and the names of the account
witnesses.
Mrs. Daya also mentioned that the negative effect of Cory Aquino's presidency is that “Cory’s
presidency sometimes failed to provide even the most basic services, including garbage collection
and electricity in Manila, and yet the level of poverty and income inequity is among the worst in
Asia.”
Mrs. Dumandan was very disappointed about how pres. Cory Aquino chose the senate cabinet
hence; this results in an unstable political movement. She believes that the senators who sat
together in Cory’s administration are useless and unknowledgeable. Cory’s occupation was just a
housewife which is her very downfall.
3. Between the two sides interviewed, which do you think is more reliable? Why?
Both statements are reliable, however, to choose between the two I’d prefer to believe in what
Mrs. Daya has stated. First, it summarizes the statement of Mrs. Dumandan. Second, she
provides precise Cory Aquino’s contribution. Third, she is 74 years and was born in 1948.
