Low Foam Sight Glass

EFFECTIVE: FEBRUARY 1, 2007 Rev: ORIG

Sundyne Corporation is pleased to announce the implementation of a low foam sight glass, part number
GA01AA05, in a continuing effort to improve reliability and operating longevity of the gearboxes. This low foam sight
glass is available for all Sundyne pump and compressor models, LMX/BMX-3XX, and will be implemented on all
new units as of February 1, 2007. The low foam sight glass can be purchased as a kit to replace sight glasses
currently in the field. The kit includes all parts required for the replacement including attaching hardware. The low
foam sight glass replaces the existing sight glass, part number GA01AA01.

The main benefit of the low foam sight glass is an accurate oil level reading at all oil temperatures and gearbox
operating speeds, ensuring the correct oil level is maintained in the gearbox. The dramatic difference in foaming
can be seen in the photos below.

Standard Sight Glass vs. Low Foam Sight Glass using ISO VG 32 Oil at 140°F, operating at 34,000 rpm

The low foam sight glass works on the principle that the oil is maintained in the extended sight glass for a longer
period of time allowing entrained air to be released.

Extensive testing was performed at Sundyne Corporation prior to introducing this new product. The testing included
running a gearbox at 34,000 rpm for an extended period of time as well as filling the gearbox with cold oil (at its pour
point) to ensure an accurate oil level can be read while filling regardless of the oil temperature.

Sundyne is confident that this product improvement will be a great benefit to the operation and maintainability of the
gearboxes.
