New 34X Upgrade Gearbox

Sundyne is pleased to introduce and release an optional upgrade gearbox for horizontal
and vertically configured 34X compressors. The upgrade is designed to increase the
standard 34X gearbox maximum power capability while maintaining all original exterior
dimensions, mounting surfaces/connections, and auxiliary attachment points. Available
for new and existing field applications, the gearbox is designed for LMC/BMC-343/347
compressor models utilizing full emission, high-performance aero components.

The maximum power rating has been expanded up to 550HP/410kW and is dependent
on input frequency and output speed; consult factory for specific application requirement.

The upgrade is built from the basic 34X (fourth generation gearbox) platform with several
upgrades:

 Gears made to AGMA-13 Grade-3 specifications

I. The absolute best gear quality defined by AGMA
 Flexure-pivot type output shaft bearings
I. Increased MTBR through damping, stiffness, and control of the output shaft

Standard Equipment
 Internal shaft driven lube pump for run-down protection
 Auxiliary primary lube pump
 Robust anti-friction bearings

Standard equipment also includes the 20-314 input seal, SE04AA9XA mechanical output
seal, RJ09AA41SN1HN00 mating ring, and the 25-007 desiccant gearbox breather to
offer superior sealing and protection from the environment. Note that the breather is not
applicable for ATEX zone 1 or 2 applications.

Operation

 Lubrication: full-time (auxiliary) motor-driven (primary) lube pump

 Mineral or synthetic ISO VG-46 grade oil conforming to specifications listed in
Field Engineering Document 40.02.04
 120°F (49°C) recommended oil supply temperature to bearings

Product Resources

Maintenance and operation of the 34X upgrade gearbox is identical to standard 34X
gearboxes. The following Instruction & Operation Manuals (IOM’s) can be utilized:
