Ice Breaking:
Supermarket Tim
e
The first player says: "I went to the supermarket to buy an Apple (or any other object
you can buy in a supermarket that begins with an A). The next player repeats the
sentence, including the "A" word and adds a "B" word.

Each successive player recites the sentence with all the alphabet items, adding one
of his own. For example; 'I went to the supermarket and bought an Apple, Banana,
CD, dog food, envelopes, frozen fish'. It's not too hard to reach the end of the
alphabet, usually with a little help! Watch out for ‘Q’ and ‘X’ ☺
Homework Checking:
Warm Up: Ask students

I will tell the students that I have a ball that predicts the future. Students should visualize the future of their
partner with the following questions

How do you think your partner is going to change in the future?

Where is going to be and what is going to do your partner in 10 years?
How is he going to change the world?
Presentation:
Present continuous
1. I’m having an appointment next week.

We use the Present continuous to talk about definite

arrangements for the future, such as plans and
appointments.
We often use it with a future time expression like at
3 o’clock, tonight, tomorrow, next weekend.

Be going to
We use be going to + the base form of the verb:
to talk about future intentions;
1. I’m going to study Chemistry next year.
to make predictions about the future based on
things we know or can see now.
2. John’s going to be really angry.
3. Oh look! I think it’s going to rain.

Will
to express a decision about the future taken at the
moment of speaking;
I will go to the concert.

to make future promises:

I love will always love you

Mechanical Drills

The students need to answer the exercise that I am going to give them.

Meaningful Drills
They have to write a plan, an intention and something they have decided right now or a promise they will
make in a year.

Follow Up Activities

The students will give their version of the first activity, they will say how they see themselves in 10 years,
using will if it is something they are going to decide right now or going to if it is an intention
