STUDY GUIDE FOR UNIT NO. 4

Unit 4: INTERPRETATION OF ASSESSMENT RESULTS

Lesson 1 – Presentation
Lesson 2 – Quantitative Analysis and Interpretation

OVERVIEW

Interpreting assessment results is one of the crucial tasks of every teacher as assessor of student
learning. Interpreting results is the manner of giving quantitative descriptions (measurements) to obtain
students’ sample behaviors and/ or performances for more meaningful assessment data. These same results are
also given a qualitative description (evaluations) in order to arrive at a more complete and detailed analysis of
the extent of student learning.

In this particular unit, discussions will center more on the quantitative form of data analysis to include
topics such as presentation of assessment results in various forms, and the different statistical measures used
to analyze student performances/ learning.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the rigid analysis and comprehension on this module, learners are expected to:

a. interpret assessment results accurately and utilize them to help learners improve their performance
and achievement; and
b. utilize assessment results to make informed decisions to improve instruction.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 2

1. Create a concept map on the levels of measurement.

2. Construct a KWLH chart on the various statistical measures.

SUMMARY

 Interpreting assessment results is the giving quantitative and qualitative of student behaviors/
performances.
 For an easier data interpretation, results may be presented in either textual, tabular, and graphical
forms.
 Various statistical tools need to be employed to arrive in a much accurate/ detailed descriptions of
student performances/learning.
