UNIT 7: Traffic

Hello! How are you today?

I’m fine. What are you doing here?
I’m doing a project about the traffic problems in Vietnam. Would it be OK if I
asked you some question?
Yes, of course. Go ahead!
Oh, thank you! So what do you think cause problems of traffic in Vietnam?
Accidents and traffic jams are caused by a lot of reasons. First of all, there are
many vehicles in the road in a time. One can be stuck for hours during rush hour,
specially in big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. The other reason is that the
sense of Vietnamese people when in traffic are very bad, some people go too fast
and carelessly, they pass the red light or carry too heavy when driving. What about
you?
For me, I think there are too many road signs which make people feel confused and
the quality of the roads are terrible. To fix that, what do we need to do?
We must obey the traffic rules like looking carefully when we go, walking across
the street at the zebra crossing and waiting for the traffic light to turn green before
you cross the street. Those are for the pedestrians. Do you know some rules for
drivers?
Yes, I do, like fastening your seatbelt when we drive, obeying the traffic signals
and so on. Oh, I’m late for the others. Thank you for your answers.
You’re welcome. See you later!
UNIT 8: Films
Hello! How are you today?
I’m fine. What are you doing here?
I’m doing a survey about the favourite films. Would it be OK if I asked you some
question?
Yes, of course. Go ahead!
So, what is your favourite film, who does it star and what kind of film is it?
My favourite film is Titanic. It stars Leonardo and Kate. It’s a romantic film

1
What is it about?
It’s about the sinking of the Titanic on its first voyage. Jack saves Rose from
killing herself and then, they fall in love. The film has a sad ending. The Titanic
sinks and more than a thousand of people die in the disaster, including Jack. That’s
my favourite film. What about you?
Oh, the film I like the most is Crazy Coconut. It’s about the a female professor and
a male film star. They get shipwrecked on a deserted island and have to live
together. Although the professor hates the film star at first, she falls in love with
him in the end.
I think that’s a good film. What have critics said about it?
Most of them say it’s very funny and entertaining. Oh, I’m late for the others.
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome. See you later!
UNIT 9: Festival around the world
Hello! How are you today?
I’m fine. What are you doing here?
I’m doing a survey about the favourite festival around the world. Would it be OK
if I asked you some question?
Yes, of course. Go ahead!
Oh, thank you! So, what is your favourite festival, where is it held and when does
it celebrate?
My favourite festival is La Tomatina. It’s held in Spain, in a small town called
Buñol. It’s celebrate in the last Wednesday of August.
How does it celebrate?
In the morning, many people tried to climb up the pole to get the ham. After that,
we saw a jet of water coming from the water cannons and the chaos began. Bags of
tomatoes from trucks were thrown to the crowds, and we began throwing tomatoes
at one another.
Oh, that’s sound great.
Yes. What’s about you?

2
My favourite festival is Cheese-rolling. It’s a seasonal festival, people race
downhill to catch cheese.
Why do they celebrate it?
Because they want to see who will be the first to catch the cheese. Do you know
that? There are many people get injured when chasing the cheese.
It’s kind of unusual, isn’t it?
Yes, it is. Oh, I’m late for the others. Thank you so much.
You’re welcome. See you later!
UNIT 10: Sources of energy
Hello! How are you today?
I’m fine. What are you doing here?
I’m doing a project about the sources of energy. Would it be OK if I asked you
some question?
Yes, of course. Go ahead!
Oh, thank you! So, can you tell me some kinds of source of energy?
There’re a lot of kinds of source of energy like solar, wind, nuclear, natural gas,
oil, coal, and so on.
What do you know about natural gas, oil, coal like advantages and disadvantages?
Natural gas, oil, coal are fossil fuels. They can be used to create energy, generate
electricity, or drive big machinery. They are non-renewable energy sources.
Unfortunately, they are harmful to the environment. Viet Nam still relies mostly on
non-renewable energy sources. What about you? Have you found the energy to
replace them yet?
Yes, that’s solar and wind power. They are other alternative sources of energy. The
wind turns turbines to make electricity. Solar power can be converted into
electricity. It can be used to heat or cool our houses. Although there are some
disadvantages, these alternative energy sources can offer abundant amounts of
clean, safe electricity. They will be valued more and more in the future in Viet
Nam.
Well, what do we do to safe energy?

3
There are a lot of ways to safe energy but the easiest way are that we only use as
much water as I need and turn off the lights when living a room or going to bed.
Oh no, I have many things to do. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome. See you later!
UNIT 11: Travelling in the future
Hello! What are you doing?
Don’t you remember? We have to introduce the means of transport in the future
and we also have to give it to the teacher tomorrow.
Oh no, I’m forget it. Can I do it with you?
Sure.
So, what means of transport did you choose?
I chose the F-airplane. I have named for it. It looks like a normal airplane but it's
very modern. It is powered by solar energy. Its speed is very high. Its wings are
designed like a panel. It converts sunlight into energy. I think it's a eco-friendly
device. It will be an airplane of the future. So, what do you think about it?
Wow, it sounds cool. About me, I think I’ll choose… hmm… Oh, I choose the
flying car.
Why do you choose it?
Because I think it’s very cool. It looks like a normal car but it has wings and it can
fly in the sky. The car will have solar panels to catch heat from the sun and
generate power. Therefore, it will use the solar energy.
They might have the SSS too.
What does SSS mean?
It’s a sky safety system. I’ll stop everyone from crashing and help them avoid
traffic jams too. I think it is a big invention which is good for environment and
save energy.
That’s a good idea. Let me check the watch. Oh no, It’s 6p.m already. I have to go
home. Thank you for helping me.
You are welcome. See you later!
