INTRODUCTION
When I’m reading someone’s birth chart, the first thing I address is their Nodal axis. Although the
North Node is not as widely discussed as the various planets, I’ve found that it has a particularly
powerful way of speaking through the chart. The North Node, by sign and by house, describes who
we need to become in this life, the path that we need to be on in order to evolve as a person. It is a
particular challenge for us to embrace our North Node and it doesn’t happen overnight. I’ve found
that the majority of people don’t begin truly accepting and living out their North Node until their late
twenties or early thirties. This can depend greatly on one’s maturity level, though. For certain
people, it takes until their forties or later to achieve their North Node, if they do at all. The more
stunted and less self-aware someone is, the more out-of-touch with their North Node they will be.

This is because the opposite point of the North Node is the South Node. By sign and house
placement, it tells us what is very comfortable and automatic for us. We’ve been conditioned to
express our South Node qualities through our early lives. Some people look at the South Node to
determine what you went through in your past life. However, on a more practical level, you could
see your “past life” as your childhood or your young adulthood, since many people look back on that
time in their lives and see it as another lifetime, due to how they’ve grown and changed. It’s not
easy to achieve change, though, and our South Node shows us that. Bringing a “one step forward,
two steps back” energy into our lives, it’s all too easy for us to fall back on that way of being and
living because it’s what we know so well. We all spend some part of our life loving our South Node
so much that the North Node seems pointless, confusing, frustrating, or unenjoyable.

The North Node’s territory is unknown, on some level. To make it through this territory, we must
look inward and discover, accept, and express parts of ourselves that we may not have known were
there but always were, to some degree. This is why the North Node is not a complete stretch to
achieve. You wouldn’t be given your North Node placement if you weren’t capable of it. At the same
time, becoming your North Node does not mean leaving your South Node behind. Instead, you need
to find ways to transform your South Node, using its gifts and qualities in a way that will serve the
mission of your North Node.

In the process, you will find a deeper fulfillment that you knew before. I believe that a person can’t
truly be happy in life until they live out their North Node. I see it as an expression of the soul, the
higher self. It’s your greatest potential in life and we all know what happens to people who aren’t
living out their full potential. The transformation involved isn’t easy but it’s worth it.

But, in order to know what path to truly be on, you must focus equally on the combination of your
North Node sign and house placement. Focusing too much on one over the other can lead to
confusion. If you have a reversed Nodal axis (a combination in opposing placements, like North
Node in Libra in the 1st), it’s even more confusing. Like you do with everything else in your chart,
figure out what the sign means first and then look to the house placement to see how you need to
express that sign’s energy, how it will manifest, and what direction it will take you in.

The North Node infuses your life with a sense of destiny. But, it’s not about the destination. It’s not
about totally knowing what you’re doing in regards to it or getting everything right. It’s about the
journey of developing it and becoming increasingly satisfied with your life and yourself, as a result.

NORTH NODE IN ARIES: THE FEARLESS SOUL
With the North Node in Aries, your higher self has got some balls. This is a bold, intrepid placement,
showing that your spiritual growth is fueled by a smoldering fire within. For this reason, having an
Aries North Node is going to feel like there is this impetus to truly leap forward. When you develop
as a person, you develop through these leaps and bounds, eager to embark on the challenge. There
is a part of your soul that just doesn’t want to be held back and doesn’t want to have their path
dictated by anyone else. Aries is the sign of singularity and independence. So, you are discovering
the independence that you have within and your ability to blaze your own trail.

In order to do this, you have to grapple with the side of yourself that is highly relationship-oriented
and focused on pleasing others. Since you have the North Node in Aries, you also have the South
Node in Libra. Your Libra South Node makes you inherently geared toward bringing happiness and
harmony to other people. By nature, you are very thoughtful, kindhearted, and peaceful. But, not
rocking the boat becomes a comfort zone for you. If the South Node represents what we fall back
on too easily, then with a Libra South Node, it’s all too easy for you to remain the nice guy or the
nice girl, instead of just doing what you really want or letting them know how you really feel.

Through the past lives theory, having the South Node in Libra indicates that your most recent past
life was about constantly keeping the peace, in some way or another. You were just a really sweet,
likable individual in this former life; one of those people who was very difficult to dislike. You were
also a real people person, bringing many close, personal relationships into your life. This was all due
to your charm, kindness, and ability to work with others. Romance figured heavily into your last
lifetime, as well. It’s to the point where you were never really alone, always going from one love
affair to the next. This created an insecurity, throughout that lifetime, about being single and alone.
You began to increasingly doubt if you could ever go it at by yourself.

In many ways, your relationships in this past life served as a powerful reflection. You needed other
people to reflect something wonderful back to you. On the flip side, you also needed to be a
reflection for other people. Libra is very tit-for-tat, expecting what it gives and giving what it
receives. So, your politeness, sophistication, and thoughtfulness were highly expected of the people
you were in relationships with. Lovers, friends, business partners, and anyone else in close contact
with you were held up to this standard of equality, leaving you to feel this deep, passive-aggressive
sense of injustice when they fell short. At the same time, you never wanted to fall short, either. It’s
good that you always sought to treat people how you wanted to be treated or how they treated you.
But, you eventually lost access to your true desires and yearnings as an individual, in the process.

The South Node in Libra also speaks to a past life where you were a real catch. On the dating
market, you were the one that everyone wanted to end up with. So, your lifetime was spent trying
your hardest to be wifey or hubby material. Everything was geared around falling in love, where the
future was headed with the person you just met, the marriage you were going to have, the kids you
were going to have, how much more amazing your marriage could be, etc. It got to the point where
you stopped thinking about you and you alone. It always had to be about “the one” you could meet
or the “plus one” that was in your life. Also, this kept your attention focused on being as desirable
as possible. You conditioned yourself to never be unattractive, meaning not only did you strive to
keep up your appearance at all times but you never wanted to be “ugly” on a personality level.

All of these issues are things that were never resolved, in this previous lifetime. You passed on, from
that life into this one, still harboring those feelings of co-dependency, that obsession with approval,

5
and that inability to have your own life. So, they exist now, in this current life, as a karmic debt of
yours. I always say that the South Node represents memories of the past, in more than one sense.
Therefore, even if you don’t believe in past lives, the South Node is about your past in this current
lifetime, as well. You’ve lived out these problems on a compulsive level.

But, the thing is that they never bring you true satisfaction. Aries North Node people constantly hit a
wall whenever they can’t seem to live for themselves. The approval, popularity, love, and harmony
that you seek end up just leaving you empty. This is the placement of someone who has been in a
seemingly happy and loving relationship for a long time yet, underneath the façade of loveliness,
feels deeply unhappy and unfulfilled. Their partner may even be happy but they, on the other hand,
just have this nagging sense that something is missing. On the flip side, you can also see many
North Node in Aries folks who avoid commitment for forever. Many people with this placement,
especially younger ones in their twenties or so, report never having even been in a serious, long-
term commitment. They keep chasing after love and it keeps eluding them or they’re so indecisive
and uncertain about “the one” that they don’t get around to committing at all.

This is all due to the fact that their North Node in Aries has caused them to unconsciously cultivate
this self-reliant, self-starting spirit. All these years of hollow relationships or disappointments in
dating have forced them to respond with yearnings of independence. Deep down, the Aries North
Node person has a soul that just wants to break out and take action on their own accord; to just “do
them.” With this placement, there is a firecracker inside of you with so many passions and goals and
desires. It keeps demanding that you listen, instead of putting what you really want on the
backburner just to please other people or find that special person. It’s when you listen to this fiery,
driven voice within that you will be able to access and develop your North Node.

In order to realize this side of yourself, you also have to be willing to not make everyone happy all
the time. You’ve spent so much time in the past being so nice and thinking of other people. Now,
I’m not saying that you all of a sudden have to become horribly selfish or cruel. The Nodes, after all,
are about balance. But, you have to stretch yourself beyond your South Node by being willing to
disappoint people, gain their disapproval, or (gasp!) even make them angry. Due to your Libra South
Node, you spend a great deal of your life very uneasy with other people’s rage, as well as your own.
So, in any sort of conflict, you seek to smooth it out as quickly and easily as possible. But, this only
leaves you dissatisfied, in the end, with an inner rage that just begs to be heard and expressed.

With the North Node in Aries, it’s truly beneficial for your soul to listen to your anger and get it out.
It’s necessary for all of us but especially for you. Anger is a sign that something in a situation isn’t
right. It’s a sign of discomfort or displeasure, on your part. So, instead of trying to avoid your anger,
you have to embrace it. Of course, do it in healthy ways. I’m not saying go around and punch
people in the face. But, you’ve got to get it off your chest! It might sound like a contradiction but it’s
a spiritual awakening for Aries North Node people to be able to argue, yell, be demanding, or get
impatient. There is a warrior within you and he or she is the key to your greatest potential. When
you can put the sweetness or the easygoingness to the side, sometimes, and just let it rip, then you
will gain a more conscious awareness of your path as a fighter.

Is this something that everyone will like or agree with? No. But, your task is to develop the ability to
agree to disagree and to not just say that in a polite, social-nicety way, either. Those with an Aries
North Node have to know that being in disagreement is sometimes a good thing for a relationship.
It’s not a sign of a crisis or that you’re an awful person or the other person is wrong. It just means
that you’re two people with differing desires, feelings, thoughts, or directions. Therefore, you can

6
actually co-exist better when this is honored, instead of avoided. You don’t always have to get on
the same page as others or force them to get on the same page as you. Sometimes, you can just
exist on two different pages, still loving each other in spite of the conflict or tension.

This sets you off on your own singular journey. It’s remarkable what you can do, with this
placement, when you’re not spending so much energy on other people. Your Aries North Node
awakens you to the amazing potential you have to achieve and conquer. Your higher self is truly
fearless, kicking ass and taking names. The beauty of this placement is the ability to approach
challenges and know that no one has to hold your hand during it. Instead of always needing to work
in a team or always looking to another person for guidance or decision making, you have to develop
the balls to make your own choices. These are choices that, again, everyone may not agree with.
But, hey, it’s not their path, is it? It’s yours. So, even if you care a lot about them, you have to
develop the ability to just say “screw them”, on a certain level, and move forward anyway.

Now, I do believe that the South Node is not something that needs to be left behind. Instead, your
South Node just needs to be transformed, in ways that balance you out and keep you working at
your North Node. With a Libra South Node, you will still be an incredibly charming, likable individual.
Your attractiveness is not something that you need to lose. In fact, the more you embrace your
Aries North Node, the more attractive you will become. Instead of just appealing to people by being
really nice and/or really beautiful, you will appeal due to your passion and your moxie. Since we live
in a world where people can be fearful and unsure of what they want, the enterprising, gutsy
expression of your soul can draw people to you like a moth to a flame. It’s very hot or very inspiring
to many when someone knows what they want and is fearless about going after it.

So, instead of waiting around for that special someone or catering to their every whim, you’ll be off
on your own mission. The great thing is that you can really attract wonderful people into your life
who will provide you with the support you need, whether in friendships or romantic partnerships.
You, also, will always be that supportive partner. Your past-life memories mean that your ability to
be a great man or woman behind a great man or woman will never die. It’s just that, now, you both
can truly be great together, without you leaning on them too much or vice versa. This brings out a
healthy spirit of competition within you. When you develop your Aries North Node, your soul will be
enlightened when you prove yourself alongside other people. You are destined to step up to the
plate and show your mettle. So, in a couple, you should never be Mr. or Mrs. (Partner’s Name) and
neither should they. You both have to strive to be strong individuals in your own right.

The more you grow spiritually, the more you will be able to not back down from other people. When
you cling to your comfort zone, you interact with others with too much of a “please” in your tone or
by saying “sorry” more times than you should. Yet, your soul is tired of this. It just wants you to be
unapologetic, when needed. That’s why, when you give in to others too much or don’t stand your
ground enough, you will feel like kicking yourself. But, you shouldn’t worry about being rude or
unfair. The great thing about having a Libra South Node is that you have an essential talent for
knowing what’s fair and what’s not fair. In any sort of situation with others, you can assess where
you’re coming from and where they’re coming from and meet in the middle. When balanced, your
assertiveness won’t be meanness or harshness. People with, say, the Sun or Moon in Aries can
express unnecessary selfishness. But, the selfishness you must access is totally healthy. When you
remain just, you can understand when it’s important or even crucial to simply put yourself first.

So, you needn’t fear that everyone’s going to start hating you, which is something that is constantly
at the back of your mind. Instead, people will recognize that you’re usually right in your

7
assertiveness and will give you the space to do your own thing. Like I said before, you nail a balance
that will have people really admiring your ballsy spirit. Aries North Node individuals, when they reach
their true potential, have a way of being total sweethearts even when they are being blunt and
bawdy. It’s like you combine coarseness and classiness, in the same package, projecting a certain
elegance and kindness even in your frankest or most foul-mouthed of moments. Realizing this helps
you to see that it’s not bad to act on your impulses, within reason, and that you don’t have to worry
so compulsively who you will rub the wrong way or who’s not going to like it.

Impulsiveness helps you find your strength because it keeps you from being so indecisive. If you
want it, you get it. If you think it, you can say it. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t. However,
this doesn’t mean that you should always act on your impulses. But, you surely already know this.
Again, you still have something of a filter. This inner system of logic and rationale allows you to
assess the consequences or potential damage very quickly and intelligently. In doing so, you can
decide if it’s worth doing or saying. If nothing that bad is going to happen, then just go for it and
see what happens! Not always knowing how the chips are going to fall leads to wonderful things for
you. It’s the kind of courage that allows your soul to find true satisfaction.

For many people, a lot of fear comes attached to taking risks. You’re most likely no different, in this
regard. But, North Node in Aries is about not being controlled by fear. You reach a level of true
enlightenment when you really live by that well-known motto that fear is “false evidence appearing
real.” You can’t sit around and get preoccupied over what might happen. You don’t even know any
of that for sure yet! None of it has happened. All you can do is just live your life, seizing each day
with full strength. In doing so, you transcend into the force to be reckoned with that you were
meant to be. You won’t flinch at the idea of being challenged because that’s what you’ll live for.

8
NORTH NODE IN TAURUS: THE GROUNDED SOUL
With a Taurus North Node, you possess a higher self that has both feet firmly on the ground. For
those with this placement, spiritual growth comes from being able to look within and develop their
salt-of-the-earth side. It’s a bit of a contradiction to have the North Node in one of the Earth signs
(Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn). It shows that you will be able to evolve and strengthen your spiritual
awareness by taking a much more practical route. Those with the North Node in Taurus are finding
their enlightenment by embracing the simplicity that life has to offer. It’s a higher calling that
requires you to cultivate calm, security, and stability in your life.

Yet, the comfort zone you are working off of is your Scorpio South Node. Our South Node
represents what can keep us stagnant, if we’re unbalanced with that. But, having the South Node in
Scorpio puts a person at a higher risk for this unbalanced mode of expression, as unhealthy or
unevolved Scorpio energy goes to destructive extremes. But, this is just what you’re comfortable
with. The Scorpio South Node makes you an innately passionate, intense person. You love being as
wholehearted and going as deep as you possibly can. But, in an unevolved state, you can easily
confuse depth for drama. It’s a sign that you’re not truly fulfilled or else you wouldn’t have to stir up
such emotional storms in your life on a regular basis.

There is often a rather traumatic root to this pattern of behavior, though. When we look at the
South Node in a past life context, I think that having a Scorpio South Node means that your most
recent past life was a very tumultuous one. Your former existence was a constant emotional
battlefield, in some way. Most people with this placement have a past that has made them all too
familiar with the concept of abuse and emotional pain. You could’ve been the giver of this
psychological turmoil, serving as a really toxic, destructive influence in other people’s lives. You also
could have received this abuse on multiple levels: emotional, physical, sexual. Your past life
memories are often harsh or unpleasant, because of this, stemming from being raped, molested,
beaten, or betrayed. You might have also had dramatic near-death experiences in this past life or
you could have even been murdered, maybe by someone you trusted or knew.

As you can see, the past life of a South Node in Scorpio soul is clearly not all sunshine and
butterflies. If you had to endure severe pain, you developed an amazing emotional strength in the
face of it. You learned how to tap into your internal resources, cultivating the resilience and the
fortitude needed to push on, even when things were really emotionally difficult. So, you were a
really powerful person, in this last life. At the same time, you became hooked on the crises and the
dramas. You turned into an intensity junkie because you didn’t know how else to live. Life was like a
constant Shakespearean tragedy, with little time to breathe or relax. Just when you thought you
could, the rug would be pulled out from under you. But, little did you know that a lot of this was
happening because you were making it happen, creating or attracting a lot of the turbulence.

So, you never really learned how to use your power as efficiently as possible. You used it to destroy,
not create. This is especially true if you were abusive with your power. Even the Scorpio South Node
people who started out as victims could easily become victimizers, in response to the powerlessness
they once felt. It’s something that ended up tainting not only your worldly relationships but your
intimate, personal ones, as well. No exchange between you and someone else could exist without
intense complication. You were a suspicious, paranoid, controlling, and/or manipulative individual,
always concerned about the power you had over someone or that they had over you. And anything
could be used to maintain that control, even if it was sex. Although you were highly sexual and very
alluring and attractive because of this raw sexual energy, you used this magnetism in order to

9
control other people. Whether it was through sexuality or through your penetrating insight into
others and their psyche, you were determined to maintain what felt like the upper hand.

Of course, so much of that was rooted in profound fear and mistrust. These are things that have
been carried over from that former life and into this one. Things that you don’t resolve don’t just go
away. They keep following you and haunting you. Whatever we don’t settle in our last life, I believe,
manifests through our South Node. So, these problems show up as our problems in this current life,
as well. Even if you don’t believe in past lives, the aforementioned issues are still things that have
strongly affected your past in this present lifetime. And the negativity has accumulated to the point
where it won’t work anymore. With this placement, you will continue to hit a wall if you remain
focused on the shadows of life, on how you could possibly be hurt or what hidden motives someone
else is harboring. Scorpio South Node people can make the mistake of thinking that they will be truly
fulfilled by delving so deeply into themselves all the time. But, actually, this introspection does
nothing but feed your obsession with the darkness within yourself and other people.

This is where your North Node in Taurus comes in. Throughout all of this time of your addiction to
pain and suffering, as well as battles for power, your soul has developed this deep inner yearning to
just chill out. In this lifetime, you really owe it to yourself to truly relax. The Taurus North Node
means that you find your truest soul-expression through a calm, centered energy. But, something
has to occur for you to figure this out. Maybe you have been so busy living in emotional turbulence
that you feel completely drained and exhausted. With a Scorpio South Node, you have a penchant
for highly dysfunctional relationships or romantic situations. So, maybe, the breakthrough happens
after being so battered and bruised, inside or outside, that you can’t take it anymore. Your karma
can also become severely stacked against you. The South Node represents our karmic debt and in
the sign of Scorpio, you can totally drown in that debt. After years of thriving on so much negative
energy (hatred of self or others, jealousy, rage, deceit, etc.), you can end up reaping what you sow
in particularly tragic or painful ways that make you want to change your life.

Of course, I don’t want to sound fatalistic. But, having the South Node in Scorpio can become like
quicksand, if you’re not careful; a trap that you just keep sinking further and further into. That’s
why, out of all placements, it’s most crucial for those with this placement to change their ways.
Embracing your Taurus North Node will put you on that path. You just have to get used to that
feeling of peace and stability. Deep down, what your soul really wants is to just enjoy life. In order
to do that, you have to figure out what you value. In the past, you really have lived without values.
Thanks to your South Node, it might be way easier for you to focus on what you loathe over what
you love, which only causes that negative energy to come back tenfold. You also have endured such
pain that you see life as being about destruction and surviving the destruction, instead of being
about the growth and the flourishing of things.

This manifests in many different ways. It can prevent you from ever having the kind of relationship
or job or bank account or life that you want. Instead of focusing on the building of these wonderful
things, you can be too preoccupied with the collapse of them. So, you will express and develop your
North Node in Taurus by discovering your innate ability to build. This has developed due to your
knack for putting yourself back together after every tragedy or every blow you’ve received. Being
able to pick up the pieces and move forward so exceptionally well has given you the inner potential
to create something really solid for yourself, in various forms. Whether it’s forging a satisfying
relationship, finding a great and fulfilling job, or developing healthy self-esteem or self-regard, you
will be able to establish an unshakable level of security for yourself when you set your mind to it.

10
When it comes to transforming the South Node, you have to remember that you possess a
wonderful inner strength. Yet, the power of your Scorpio South Node needs to be used not to battle
it out with your emotional issues all the time but to just keep your feet on solid ground. You have to
trust that you are a survivor and that you will be able to withstand whatever comes your way. Then,
the negative habits of mistrust, suspicion, and control-freak obsessions will be able to be released.
Instead of anticipating the next horrible thing that’s going to happen to you, you can calmly rest
easy, knowing that you’re strong enough to handle it; that is, if it even happens. You possess a very
vivid, intense imagination. Don’t let it get out of control. Instead of focusing on the nightmare in
your head, focus on the lovely things that are happening right now, in the present.

This attitude of appreciation is a major thing for you. Taurus North Node people find their spiritual
awakening when they master the art of gratitude. It can be enough to make you weep with joy
when you recognize all the beautiful things that you already have in your life. And as the theory
goes, this gratitude only ends up multiplying those good things. Life is becoming a much simpler,
easier affair for you now. You have withstood enough. Now, you get to just kick back and indulge in
the finer things. For those with a Taurus Sun or Moon, self-indulgence can be an issue. Yet, with the
North Node in Taurus, a certain amount of indulgence is your right. It puts you on the path toward
enlightenment because it brings out your innate ability to fully enjoy something.

Cultivating and owning your sensuality is a very important step in this process. You will be able to
enter into a virtually meditative state when you can just please any of your five senses. Listening to
good music, savoring delicious food, doing some gardening, or going to a museum to check out the
art are all things that will keep you in touch with your higher self. It’s the part of yourself that just
wants to take these pleasurable things in with nothing else to complicate the process. It can be a
real challenge for you to do this completely because your introspective Scorpio South Node always
wants to figure out the deeper meaning of things. So, you will have to be able to experience
pleasure without that super-probing mentality. These pleasures will still be felt on a profound level.
You feel things with great intensity. But, when you evolve, you learn to just accept the feeling of
powerful, pure pleasure, free of the anxious sense that the good times won’t last or are a trick.

The development of your sensuality comes into play sexually, as well. Taurus North Node people
also obsess over the deeper meaning of sex. So, although they have a ton of sexual energy and
sexual appeal, they resist the process of just making sex a physical thing. Well, it’s actually a part of
your journey to do so. The reason being is that your obsessive search for mind-blowing, soul-mate
sex only brings out your shadow side. Once you bond so profoundly with someone, it’s difficult to let
them go. The overwhelming emotions of the sexual act still stick with you physically, which is why
you can get so jealous, so possessive, or so controlling with your lovers. Sometimes, it only takes
just one time of having sex for you to become totally consumed with the other person. And when
they feel like “a part of you”, the threat of losing them becomes highly exaggerated and it, let’s be
honest, brings out your inner psycho, inevitably destroying what could be a great union.

Yet, when you approach sex in a much more physical, sensual way, you will find that you are able to
remain self-possessed and level-headed. The issue of control does not come into play, either way,
because you both are your own separate, physical entities. Then, you will feel freer and more
relaxed with your sexuality, instead of making it this really serious, really dramatic hunt for your one
and only. The idea is to not judge the process and to simply enjoy what’s happening. You can make
sex such a big deal that it ends up blocking you and preventing you from experiencing as much
sexual fulfillment as you actually could. But, when you focus much more on the physical side of the
act, then you can experience a real breakthrough. Those with the North Node in Taurus can find

11
themselves having better and more frequent orgasms, as well as an easier, more satisfying
connection with their lover, when they start seeing sex as just sex and stop taking it so seriously.

When you can engage in your love affairs without them becoming really torrid and all-consuming,
you know you will have let go of your negative attachment to drama. Taurus North Node people
make excellent artists, though, because they are so in touch with their psyche: good, bad, and ugly.
This is usually the best way for you to get all of that out. You’re always going to be very aware of
your dark side and of your emotional intensity. But, the key is to find some sort of outlet that gives
that a release, without turning your actual life upside down. So, you can find many singers, actors,
or writers with their North Node in Taurus who are capable of going down into their depths for their
art and then returning to their stable, easygoing lives. For many with this placement, being an artist
is also a higher calling because it gives you the chance to create something, which you have to
develop the skill to do, patiently and step-by-step.

You have an excessive amount of emotional energy, thanks to the Scorpio South Node. But, you
cannot waste it on unimportant things. There is often a wake-up call, with those who have this
placement, where they realize that if they spent even half the energy they spent hating their ex or
brooding over their past or living on the edge and invested it in practical concerns, they’d probably
be a lot more successful. With a Taurus North Node, you have to learn that if you had a dime for
every obsessive or compulsive thought you had, you’d be filthy rich. So, the key here is figuring out
how to redirect all of that energy. The South Node in Scorpio blesses you with tremendous focus.
Yet, it’s all about what you focus on. More than most, you are going to receive what you focus on
very strongly, good or bad, because your energy can be so intense.

Therefore, focus on the pragmatic goals that will give you the life you want. The grounded quality of
your soul indicates that, in the end, all you really want to do is have plenty of money and live in a
beautiful home, most likely with a garden, and enjoy what you do for a living. Don’t worry about
that being shallow or simple, either. The Taurus North Node is urging you to get over those hang-
ups about money being the root of all evil. Yes, you’re well-aware of evil and how people in power
can abuse their position. And money does lead to a certain power in the world, which is what can
make you uncomfortable with it. But, your North Node in Taurus means that you’ve got to have your
mind on your money and your money on your mind. People often think the spiritual and the financial
parts of life are mutually exclusive. Yet, this placement shows that they clearly are not.

For you, it’s about developing the latent skill of handling your money wisely, earning and saving and
spending in ways that will bring you practical security. Finding this practical security is your key to
spiritual awareness because it leads to personal security, i.e. peace of mind and heightened self-
esteem. You owe it to yourself to make good money and have nice things. In the past, you have let
life beat you up and take a dump on you, time and time again. Now, you will put yourself on the
track toward enlightenment by knowing that you should be living a much more comfortable life,
personally and financially, as a way of expressing true self-love. And it’s the innate survival skills of
your Scorpio South Node that will support the money-management of your Taurus North Node. You
already know how to handle your emotional resources. Now, life must be about handling your
financial resources. This will directly connect to your spiritual well-being. By being able to live
comfortably, you’ll understand that life is good and that everything will be alright.

NORTH NODE IN GEMINI: THE CURIOUS SOUL
Having the North Node in Gemini in your birth chart means that this lifetime needs to be about true
communication for you. Your highest soul-expression is one that is logical, inquisitive, and eager for
more information. That is why I call you the curious soul. Deep down, you possess this powerful
yearning to just learn more. More than most people, the more you know, the more you grow. But,
you need to “know things” in a rational way; by gathering all the facts. Gemini North Node
individuals are discovering that, in order to evolve, they need to treat life like an endless classroom,
a textbook that never ends. Accessing and embracing your ability to be both a remarkable student
and a remarkable teacher is what is going to bring you the most spiritual growth.

For those with the North Node in Air – Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius – objectivity and open-mindedness
are required in order to rise above the sometimes overly subjective passions and desires that they
succumb to so easily. With the North Node in Gemini, you have the South Node in Sagittarius.
Because of this, you possess an innate sense of faith, morality, truth, and freedom. You’re a
naturally adventurous spirit and a big motivation behind these adventures is to figure out the bigger
meanings of everything. But, your search for inspiration and truth can often become unbalanced.
Sagittarius South Node folks are all too prone to blind faith, letting their belief in the Universe
become downright naïve, and also to self-righteousness. You have a deep-seated habit of letting
your beliefs and opinions become the “absolute truth”, instead of just one perspective amongst a
sea of many different perspectives. In order to grow, you need to overcome this habit.

Since the South Node is indicative of our past life. It’s usually our most recent past life or, at least, a
very recent past life. In any case, having the South Node in Sagittarius shows that your former
lifetime was one big philosophical journey. You were a free spirit in this last life who thrived on
going from one place to the next. An addiction to “finding yourself” in this sense and discovering a
grand sense of meaning and inspiration defined this former lifetime. While this made your existence
quite exciting and allowed you to live with the wind in your hair, it eventually became a stumbling
block for you. A major issue for South Node in Sagittarius is believing that the grass will be greener
on the other side, creating an insatiable kind of restlessness that keeps you going from one path to
the next. You were too dissatisfied with the mundane and too hungry for something “more.”

This craving for more, more, and more drove your past-life self in many ways. You were an
excessive sort of individual who didn’t really understand moderation. This led to an irresponsible
streak as well as a compulsion for “gambling”, in many senses of the word. Whether you were at the
blackjack table or jumping on some get-rich-quick venture or just taking some wild leap of faith, in
terms of romance or career, you didn’t let logical considerations hold you back. After all, the
Universe was on your side! Sagittarius South Node people were such believers in their past life that
it became quite fanatical or ridiculous. Most of these folks were very religious in this last lifetime.
Whether they were Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, etc., this belief system always made them
think that everything would work out and that their God was on their side. But, such a belief
became all-consuming, to the point where it prevented them from being appropriately rational.

Their beliefs also invaded their communication with others. Instead of just conversing with other
people, they preached to them. In fact, a lot of these people were preachers, evangelists, or
religious leaders/activists, to some extent, in their former lifetime. So, they not only became
preoccupied with swaying others over to their side of the fence but became fixated on their truth.
This doesn’t only mean their philosophical or religious truth. South Node in Sagittarius people were
compulsively honest in this last life, to the point of tactlessness or foolishness. I think these people

13
can be divided into two groups. The first kind never learned how to cultivate a “filter”, giving them
no sense of rationale in what to say and what not to say, which led to a pattern of being
embarrassingly blunt. The second kind is quite similar but they just more so never learned how to
lie. In many ways, this is an admirable thing. But, it kept them in a state of naïveté, feeling as if
they could never tell the tiniest fib or that people always wanted to hear their opinions. And, of
course, this isn’t true, which is something that created some social awkwardness.

These issues were never resolved in this former lifetime. So, they have been carried over into this
life, in order to be settled and overcome. Even if you don’t buy into the past lives theory, everything
I just said can definitely be applied to your past in this current lifetime. Individuals with the South
Node in Sagittarius spend the first quarter or third of their lives really feeling like restless
philosophers, constantly searching for meaning, overly eager to inspire others, and quite helplessly
unable to monitor their speech and not be honest at all times. But, when we over-focus on the
South Node, which we do until we’re about 25 to 30, we just end up feeling empty and unfulfilled.
This is when we have to say “enough is enough” and strive to reach our full potential. After all the
aimless adventures, the restless quests, and the foolish self-righteousness, those with this
placement have to come to a breakthrough period in their lives when they are ready to come down
off of that high-horse, as well as to stop riding that high-horse off into the sunset all the time.

This is when the North Node kicks in. Those who have the North Node in Gemini realize their full
potential when they stop preaching and start teaching. The thing is that the North Node is always
within us, unconsciously developing due to a dissatisfaction with living so heavily through our South
Node. And because of their South Node, these people possess a moral code that can be downright
rigid. But, deep down within their soul, they can feel an “evil twin” brewing within. Gemini
symbolizes duality and paradoxes. If you have the North Node in Gemini, this theory of opposites
and contradictions is not initially comfortable to you, early in your life. But, a funny thing happens:
you end up turning into a hypocrite.

Having the South Node in Sagittarius means that you can only stand on that soapbox for so long.
Then, you fall off because you start getting other ideas and hearing other voices. If you’re a
hardcore vegetarian, to a degree that makes you fanatical, you’ll increasingly crave the taste of red
meat. If you’re extra-vocal about casual sex, to the point where you judge people who are not as
prudes, you’ll start feeling yourself become more and more unsatisfied with having sex without
commitment. Whatever the case may be, if you are too self-righteous about something, you will end
up going against that belief. The Universe is, after all, set up to deny us our South Node or make it
a source of struggle when we are not balanced out by our North Node. It can horrify you to feel this
terrible yearning to go against your beliefs. But, you actually need to embrace this compulsion
because the North Node in Gemini is about being open to many different ideas.

Instead of insisting on specific beliefs, you need to spend this life focusing on a wide range of ideas,
thoughts, and perspectives. You experience a deep fulfillment when you can accept and master your
own duality. The problem is that you can feel uneasy with being contradictory because it feels like
it’s being dishonest. But, the truth is that human nature is all about contradictions: love and hate,
yin and yang, light and dark, right and wrong. And these contradictions can blend so easily that it’s
difficult to tell the difference between the two. Accepting ambiguity is a big step in your
development as a person. It’s all too easy for you to bluntly promote a black-or-white code of
morals and ethics. However, your major challenge in this life is to welcome the shade of grey.

14
This means understanding how to be both right and wrong, instead of always needing to be right.
Such an attitude is your Achilles’ heel. But, you have to develop the objectivity to know that what’s
right for you is not necessarily right for everyone else. Maybe someone sees your point of view as
“wrong” but you don’t. Maybe you disagree with someone else’s ideas but they are fully convinced
they’re right. This is just the ambiguous part of human nature: we all are just trying to do what we
think is right. Knowing this will prevent you from judging others so much, in accordance to your
moral code, and make you realize that the “truth” is not absolute. It varies, from person to person.

In accepting this, you can figure out ways in which to modify your own truth, depending on who
you’re speaking with. This doesn’t mean be two-faced, insincere, or dishonest. The North Node is
the highest, most ideal expression of that sign. So, while those with personal planets in Gemini can
suffer from being a bit tricky, shady, or duplicitous, this isn’t the case for you. Instead, you can
master the art of tailoring your message to the individual. After all, with a Gemini North Node, your
higher purpose lies in being a great messenger. To do this, you have to move beyond the very
generalized form of preaching you’re prone to and cultivate a more specific brand of teaching.
Instead of spreading your messages on a mass scale, you need to spread these messages on a
smaller level, engaging in a logical give-and-take of information between people.

But, you will still need your South Node, as we all do. As I say all the time, the South Node does not
need to be left behind. It just needs to be transformed. And you can use the good faith and spirit of
adventure to drive your emerging communication skills. Your curiosity will be strengthened if you
see the exchange of ideas between you and someone else as an adventure. You never know what
will happen and, who knows, they might end up changing your mind! Such a concept is pretty
unthinkable to you, in your less evolved and conscious state. You want to do the enlightening! You
want to change minds! The thing is that your Gemini North Node does give you the power to change
others minds. But, this can only happen when you’re just as open to being mentally affected by
them, instead of seeing your interactions as only being about you inspiring, uplifting, or directing
them. Real communication is a two-way street!

With the North Node in Gemini, becoming an expert conversationalist is your destiny, allowing you
to engage with all sorts of people in regards to all sorts of things. You have to let go of the idea that
you can only speak when it’s about something “meaningful.” This is the reason why, sometimes, you
can talk up a storm and, other times, you don’t want to say much of anything. You can speak
excessively when it’s something you believe in: when it’s a grand topic like religion, life, morality,
politics, self-discovery, etc. But, when you’re asked about your day, your job, or your new house,
you might feel yourself blanking on what to say. You may be able to go through the motions of it
but in a manner that feels disengaged and remote, as if you’re above the whole thing, which is an
attitude that inevitably makes people not really want to talk to you.

Therefore, you’re mastering the art of chit-chat, of small talk, of speaking about everyday and
random things. Your Sagittarius South Node is so hungry for meaning. But, you can use that thirst
for discovery and truth to understand that everything has meaning. You can actually end up learning
so much about a person through small talk, if you overcome your arrogant feeling that it’s
meaningless. Actually, all the little things about how a person communicates, as well as the random
things that they say and speak of, can carry a great deal of meaning. You have to work on not
letting these things go over your head. Figuring out things like social cues and body language really
unlocks your Gemini North Node. You must remain adaptable to all the shifts in your environment
and the person you’re speaking to, going with the flow of it all in an intelligent way.

15
Your higher self is bright, fascinating, and witty. You have a latent ability to adapt to the endless
stream of thoughts and ideas around you. But, until you embrace this higher self, you might be that
person who comes off as sort of “dumb”, even though you’re actually smart. It takes some time for
Gemini North Node to develop these intellectual skills. You are more comfortable with being told
what to think and say through your particular “bible”, whether it’s religious or just a personal
philosophy. So, when it comes time to actually think and speak, in a way that’s removed from these
beliefs, you can fall flat on your face. You can respond to what you think someone said, instead of
what they actually said. You can tell jokes with horrible timing, making them either land flat or come
off as inappropriate and offensive. You may also just completely get something wrong that’s an
obvious fact to everyone else, making you look really silly.

But, this is why you need to move toward being the student. Gemini North Node people are
unlocking their social graces within. Being so clumsy or inept at connecting with others has allowed
a side of yourself to unconsciously develop that just wants to see things more clearly. If you can
logically tune in to what’s happening around you, then you will be on the right track. This awakens
your amazing skill of being able to gather all the facts, observe the situation correctly, and then
figure out what to say. It’s a real learning process for you but one that will strengthen your
intelligence, sense of humor, and social skills. It’s why being curious is so important for you: more
than the average person, you have a lot to learn and this is something that will make this lifetime
endlessly stimulating for you. There’s always more information for you to consume.

Developing this mindset will appeal to the insatiable nature of your Sagittarius South Node. But, the
difference is you need to be eager for information and not for experience. Working on this mindset
will allow your inner shrewdness to emerge. Because you can blindly assume that everyone is as
honest as you are, you can all too readily take someone at their word. This also comes from that
habit you have of gambling, of just taking a risk without any information. However, this isn’t going
to work for you. Your South Node makes you feel like luck is always around the corner. Yet, it won’t
be if you keep allowing yourself to be duped. Instead, you must shift your perspective by realizing
that the only way you’ll get lucky is by being logical and observant about your situation. In many
ways, you need to be like that 6-year-old who won’t stop asking questions. In this lifetime, with a
Gemini North Node, you can’t assume anything. Always seek out the facts. This will not only help
you see things more clearly but will straighten out the various forms of miscommunication you
struggle with. The truth, for you, can no longer be about opinion. It must be about logic.

You’re also reining in a compulsive tendency toward wanderlust. You will always love to “travel”,
whether it’s to discover many different experiences in your city or to go from city to city or even
country to country. But, in order to find true fulfillment, you must focus on travels of the mind, more
so than travels of the body. In actuality, your soul is tired of darting from one place to the next. You
can find real satisfaction deep within by engaging in what’s going on in your own backyard. Gemini
North Node people can make excellent neighbors; the kinds who are always keeping up with
everyone. On a certain level, you need to gossip. It’s what your soul yearns for. I’m not saying do it
in a malicious, negative way. But, knowing how to freely exchange a wide range of information is
how you evolve, helping others learn and also learning more from others. So, spilling a harmless
amount of tea is good for you! Your greater potential makes you that person who causes people to
hang on to their every word, eager to hear what you have to say next.

NORTH NODE IN CANCER: THE PROTECTIVE SOUL
With the North Node in Cancer in your birth chart, this is a lifetime that needs to be about giving
and receiving emotional support. The North Node is how we evolve and find true fulfillment. So,
with a Cancer North Node, you’re never going to be truly fulfilled unless you learn how to embrace
all of those feelings and be just as sensitive toward other people. Your highest soul-expression is
one that is geared toward cultivating and sustaining a strong support system. This means embracing
and developing the vulnerability needed to actually seek the support of others. We’re all vulnerable,
to some degree or another. It’s just that not everyone might be as comfortable with their
vulnerability. This is the key challenge for Cancer North Node people: to access and embrace their
softer side; the side of them that just needs to know that everything will be okay.

Of course, the journey toward the North Node involves coming to grips with the issues of your South
Node. As a Cancer North Node, you have the South Node in Capricorn. Now, you should take stock
of the positive attributes that this South Node gives you. With a Capricorn South Node, you possess
a very natural business sense and work ethic. You are someone who knows how to hustle, how to
accomplish, and how to receive recognition. This is all fine and well, just as long as these traits are
balanced. But, it’s all too easy for us to become unbalanced via our South Node. And in the case of
this placement, that will lead to an excessive focus on goals, accomplishment, status, and purpose
that can leave you feeling hardened or empty, in spite of all of what you may have achieved.

The South Node says a lot about the past that we’re coming from. On a very spiritual level, it
represents the past life you’ve come from. Usually, it’s the most recent past life but, sometimes, it’s
a very recent one, maybe prior to the last one you had. In any case, in this former existence, your
South Node in Capricorn made you a very important person. These people were the moguls, the
entrepreneurs, the CEO’s in this last life. You were placed in positions where you were in command,
where you were the boss, and had to make sure that everything ran efficiently. Therefore, you
developed a strong sense of what needed to be accomplished and how to effectively do so. This
obviously led to great success in the business world, allowing you to cultivate a real name for
yourself. You were looked up to, celebrated, possibly even world-renowned.

You do see many people with this placement who were famous in their past life. In some way or
another, you received a lot of recognition for your accomplishments, even if it meant just being
famous in your community or particular field. But, at what cost? The problems that occurred in this
former lifetime came from you being willing to sacrifice everything to get ahead, including your
personal needs and desires. You were that classic person who prioritized their career above
everything, preventing you from really getting the love and nourishment you needed in your
personal life. In fact, you had little to no personal life! And this reinforced that haunting feeling of it
being lonely at the top. While you might have accomplished so much, all of these successes
amounted to hollow victories because you were never inwardly fulfilled.

Yet, that kept driving you more and more, in order to fill that emptiness. Capricorn South Node
individuals were driven and determined in their past life to destructive or counterproductive degrees.
You could have stopped at nothing to find success, creating ruined business or personal
relationships, thanks to this ruthlessness. You also could have been just as ruthless toward yourself,
if not more. You placed a tremendous amount of pressure on yourself in order to get ahead and be
somebody important. Because of this, you stopped being as sensitive as you should have been to
your needs and emotions. You would continue to push through anything, no matter how exhausted,
depressed, overwhelmed, or insecure you felt. While this made you very persevering, it also

17
prevented you from being in touch with your true emotions. It also made you so addicted to being
challenged and overcoming obstacles that you never learned how to just take it easy.

These problems added up to become your karmic debt, getting carried over from that life into this
one. It’s why they continue to plague you. They are demanding to be resolved. Even if you don’t
believe in past lives, everything I just said can be applied to your past self in this life. The South
Node also determines “the past” that we make for ourselves in this current life. So, you have
struggled with being a workaholic, desperate for recognition and success, too tough on yourself and
others, and addicted to difficulty and struggle. With the South Node in Capricorn, your upbringing in
this life could have been full of financial struggles or other hardships. This instills within you a
pattern of feeling like things need to be hard because that’s how you achieve. It also is what makes
you fixated with status, with obtaining the prestige or importance you didn’t feel while growing up.

At some point, however, a breakthrough period has to happen in your life where you’re ready to
move toward your North Node. It usually takes a person until they’re at least 25 to 30 years old to
become ready to unlock the North Node traits within themselves. This occurs after being continually
dissatisfied with your South Node. Since you have the South Node in Capricorn, that breakthrough
moment can occur when you realize that all of your accomplishments out in the world still don’t
bring you any joy or fulfillment. Maybe it comes from actually wanting to have a real emotional
connection with someone, instead of being relating to people in a very obligatory way. Maybe you
also just want to go along with the gentle flow of life instead of always summoning some
catastrophe, through your negative attitude, that will just ruin things for you.

This is where your North Node in Cancer comes into play. With this placement, there is a deep-
seated yearning inside of yourself to just feel safe, supported, and nourished. It’s why I call you the
protective soul. You access and develop your higher self when you focus on emotionally protecting
and comforting yourself. You’re so used to feeling so tough and so self-sufficient that you can all too
easily throw yourself into challenges, accustomed to having a thick enough skin to handle it. But,
the truth is that you develop in this lifetime by learning how to have thinner skin, not thicker skin.
While certain people are figuring out how to be stronger and more empowered, you are figuring out
how to be more vulnerable, in a way that will actually boost your inner strength.

Your South Node is never going to go away. It will always be a part of you. It’s just that you have to
learn how to transform it. In the case of having a Capricorn South Node, you must take this
ingrained self-sufficiency and perseverance that you have and use it in order to
face emotional difficulties. The paradox of having this placement is that you can be such a tough
cookie when it comes to facing practical, worldly struggles: finding a new job/career, paying the bills
on limited finances, making a name for yourself in your field, etc. But, when you’re faced with
emotional struggles, you can crumble and feel downright helpless. This is because you are much
less experienced when it comes to dealing with feelings, needs, and responses. However, if you rest
comfortably in that inner Capricorn toughness, you will realize that you are actually strong enough
to be vulnerable, to handle those emotional ups-and-downs without knowing how they’ll turn out.

Taking on this attitude is going to help you let your guard down. You can be ferociously guarded, to
a degree that keeps you very inaccessible or distant to others. But, deep down, there is this loving,
sensitive, caring person who is just aching for support and understanding. In the end, you must see
the process of allowing your softer side to emerge as a goal. The thing about you is that whenever
you set your mind to something, it will be accomplished. No questions asked. Yet, spiritual growth
occurs for you when you shift your goals away from the practical to the personal. In order to live out

18
your Cancer North Node, you need to use the goal-oriented focus of your Capricorn South Node to
have an accomplished personal life: truly intimate connections, a comforting home, a loving family,
and a reflective, private access to your emotions and needs.

You’re destined to become a much more reflective person. In the past, you didn’t have time to stop
and be introspective. You were all about doing this and doing that in order to be successful. When
you are so invested in all of those worldly goals, your inner life becomes barren. But, in order to rise
above that karmic debt, you’re going to have to become more reflective. You’ll feel quite a backlash
of consequences when you’re not, as we all do when we blatantly ignore our North Node. Those
emotions within you are more powerful than you realize. When you don’t stop to tend to them, they
will have a way of simmering and simmering beneath the surface until they finally bubble over in
disastrous ways. In spite of their kneejerk stoicism, Cancer North Node individuals are subject to
recurring emotional outbursts or breakdowns that surprise everyone, most of all them. This is your
inner life rising up and demanding to be heard. So, until you really stop and understand these
emotions, they will regularly embarrass you or make a mess of things in your life.

What’s really happening is your inner child is begging to be heard. Throughout the past, you have
not been properly taken care of the way that you need to be taken care of. In childhood,
particularly, the Capricorn South Node has a way of keeping your emotional needs from being
heard, respected, or understood. So, this gets carried into adulthood, making it hard for you to
understand your own emotional needs. A large part of our emotional reactions stem from our child
self. So, a lot of psychological healing needs to occur, in order for you to positively live out this
placement. You must give your inner child the protection that he or she hasn’t felt in the past. In
order to do so, you have to tap into the flow of your feelings and develop that internal radar of
yours that tells you when something just isn’t right or when you are in need of something.

A part of your soul is very emotionally intelligent and in tune. This part of you has developed
unconsciously in response to all of the regulations and rules you’ve followed in the past. You can’t
keep this up for long anymore. With the North Node in Cancer, your higher self is too fluid, too
responsive, and often too irrational to live up to all of these social codes and expectations. You have
become so dependent on prestige, popularity, status, and recognition that you have become used to
always monitoring yourself. The South Node in Capricorn gives you a real image-mongering side.
You are a tough PR agent to yourself, always demanding that you behave in ways that will win you
respect and acclaim. But, now, you’ve got to throw those rules out of the window! The key with this
placement is to respond straight from the gut, without worrying about social correctness. While a
Cancer Sun or Moon may become neurotic or insecure by indulging in their moods, for you, acting
on these constant shifts of emotion will put you on the path toward personal growth.

You are growing into someone who is truly “at home” with themselves, who lives from a place of
emotional authenticity. Sure, people are going to judge. But, so what? A big part of your
development stems from not taking yourself that seriously anymore. Feel free to be loony, to get
messy, to go nuts, sometimes. Your Cancer North Node just wants you to react, not calculate. This
is the way you’ll find true fulfillment. And you’ll actually gain more success and recognition when you
stop micromanaging yourself and just go with the flow. Your bad habit of being too calculating, in
image and in action, is what can cause others to resist you. In spite of being so ambitious, it can be
tough for you to find the true success you’re looking for when you are planning and calculating your
way toward it. When we over-focus on the South Node, we don’t get what it stands for. So, you’re
not going to be truly successful in life until you learn how to follow your instincts and act from a
soulful place of honesty, instead of being preoccupied with results.

19
Being more instinctual will help you stay in touch with other people’s feelings and needs, as well.
You are also destined to be a real nurturer and caregiver. You can feel this inkling inside of you
whenever you’re in taskmaster or workaholic mode, simply staying businesslike with people without
personally connecting to them. It actually hurts your heart to do this, even though you may fool
yourself into thinking it’s for everyone’s benefit. Instead, what’s really going to benefit everyone is if
you start reaching them emotionally. In the end, you are someone who goes in the direction of
successful results. When you’re obsessed with efficiency, things remain difficult. But, when you
focus more on making sure everyone feels good, things become more efficient around you.
Therefore, you can find that balance by using true responsiveness as a practical plan for success.

It’s also something that builds your support system in life. People with this placement have a strong
tendency to feel emotionally removed from their families, particularly their family of origin. You can
remain either physically distant from them, rarely ever visiting and not being a constant part of their
lives, or keep a psychological distance, going through the motions of family time without being
affected by it. On a certain level, Cancer North Node people usually deeply resent their families,
particularly their parents, for not giving them what they needed. This can be very unconscious and
something you need to draw out in the form of therapy or self-help. But, there is a certain amount
of bitterness and resentment you need to work through, due to the experience of having to grow up
too quickly or feeling like you had to achieve things to win their love, which is another rather
common feeling with this trait. Just know that your Capricorn South Node makes you the boss and
right now, as an adult, you are in command of your own emotional well-being. So, let go of any
negativity you’ve accumulated toward your parents. They’re no longer in charge.

This can be a very healing process that allows you to re-participate with your family. Maybe you
spent many years being estranged from them and, now, your new personal growth has opened new
doors for connecting with them. You may also just take to your role in the family with a deeper
sense of love and appreciation for them, in spite of their flaws or mistakes. However, you can also
find Cancer North Node individuals just breaking off and making their own families, especially if their
family of origin is too dysfunctional or toxic to handle. When you develop the true emotional
awareness of your North Node, then you will know whether to make your family a part of your life
or not. Whatever gut-felt “emotional vibrations” you feel with them, negative or positive, will drive
that decision. And, for many of those with this placement, breaking off from the family they were
given early in life and starting a surrogate family or a family of their own is the answer.

The protectiveness of your higher self extends to your loved ones, as well. The more you’re tapped
into your own feelings and needs, the more you’ll be able to access theirs. So, you can create a
nice, warm haven for people to feel comfortable in and let their guard down in. This can mean
family members, old friends who feel like family, long-term significant others, and, of course,
children. Becoming a parent can be a deeply fulfilling for you, way more than any accomplishments
in the world, and very healing. For North Node in Cancer people, nurturing their children properly
allows them to nurture their own inner child just as effectively. Two outcomes are possible, though,
that could stand in the way: either your Capricorn South Node makes you too strict or hard on your
kids or too hard on yourself in regards to your parenting skills. Either way, being a parent could be
that moment of awakening that you need; that you’re not being receptive enough or sensitive
enough. When this happens, you can change your approach to parenting, knowing that you’re not
always going to get it right and also giving your kids the nurturing space to go at their own flow,
without so many rules bogging them down. And the more you’re able to send your children this
comforting message, the more you’ll be able to receive that message vicariously through them.

NORTH NODE IN LEO: THE CHARISMATIC SOUL
The spotlight is ready to shine upon you if you were born with the North Node in Leo. This
placement instills a higher self within that is full of charisma, life, and confidence. For those with this
North Node, the path toward spiritual growth comes from recognizing just what it is that makes you
special and that makes you feel alive. Deep down, your soul possesses this yearning to take the star
position, soaking up the applause of others. In doing so, you will not only be able to make life a
more entertaining, exciting venture for you but you will be able to entertain and excite the people
around you. “Let me entertain you!” is the motto you need to live by in order to evolve.

But, the place that you’re coming from is your South Node in Aquarius, which makes you much more
comfortable just standing back and watching everything happen. You have a deep-seated hesitance
to get involved, in more ways than one. Instead, you prefer to maintain an attitude of detachment,
giving you a vision that is more intellectual than emotional, more objective than personal. Like all of
our South Nodes, there are some pro’s and some con’s here. On the plus side, you possess a
wonderful ability to not take life so personally. Being as attuned as you are to the “bigger picture”,
you don’t go around immediately reacting to everything that happens to you. So, on a certain level,
you can naturally keep things drama-free and these super-chill vibes draw a lot of friends your way,
as does your highly approachable, friendly manner. You truly don’t know a stranger.

This is because that Aquarius South Node gives you an unpretentious, easy ability to mix it up with
everyone. A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet. But, the downside of this is the
preoccupation with everyone over concerns with the self. In an unevolved mode, you don’t care that
much about being “special” exactly. You know that you’re different – as in quirky, free-thinking, or
nonconforming – but it’s not something that goes to your head. In actuality, it can be something
that brings a painful sense of loneliness, beneath the highly active social life and the nonchalant,
breezy demeanor. South Node in Aquarius individuals can struggle with the sense that they have a
lot of friends but that nobody truly “knows” them or understands them. Yet, you also don’t truly
know or understand yourself. You’re too busy getting caught up in ideas, concepts, projects, causes,
and friendships that you don’t take enough time to stop and ask, “Well, what about me?”

It’s a reflection of baggage from your past life that you’re still carrying around. With an Aquarius
South Node, I believe that you’re coming from a very recent former life where you strove hard to
make a difference in society. You were determined to make the world a better place. People with
this placement were activists, inventors, or innovators in their past life, in some way or another. You
could’ve been a vital member of some social or political movement. You may have been involved in
something that focused very much on other people, particularly the study of human nature. Many
South Node in Aquarius folks were psychiatrists, sociologists, or anthropologists in their past lives,
looking at their fellow man with an objective, well-informed eye and figuring out what makes them
tick. You also could’ve done something very scientific or intellectual in your former life, developing
your natural strength of using your mind and your higher reason to navigate the world.

But, the problem is that you became really stuck in your head. Your gift for objectivity soon became
a major weakness because you couldn’t stop scrutinizing everything and everyone from the outside
looking in. It was like you viewed the world from the perspective of a microscope or a telescope,
instead of seeing it from your own personal lens. This is something that began alienating you from
other people. It was difficult for you to become truly emotionally connected to others in this last life.
With the South Node in Aquarius, your romantic endeavors particularly suffered because of this. The
passion never ignited or lasted because you were too interested in staying cool to keep the fires

21
burning. A part of this was because you never thought you were that big of a deal. So, you resisted
the passionate affection of others, since such exclusive attention made you uncomfortable. And, as
a result, you had a hard time showing passionate affection. Therefore, you lived your life in a very
arm’s-length way, keeping it light and easy with your vast multitude of friends while never really
getting that close or bonding that deeply with anyone.

These are problems that you never found a way to resolve in your former life. That’s why they’ve
been carried over into this lifetime. Even if you’re not into the past lives theory, the aforementioned
issues have still strongly defined your past in this current life. It’s why the causes you promote
might be more important than your personal life. At an extreme, the Aquarius South Node can make
you so dispassionate and casual about your personal life that you can leave your loved ones
wondering if you even care at all. You can detach too easily from people, giving off an
uncomfortable chill instead of an enjoyable one. It all comes from that head-centered way of living,
which prevents you from truly connecting to your heart. And you are meant to fully live from your
heart center, as it will give you the vitality and passion you need to perform on life’s stage.

Enter your North Node in Leo. It is your birthright to be a performer and a lover. After an unfulfilling
past of distance and lack of ego, what your soul really wants is to develop an ego and to use it to
make your special mark on the world. It can take a feeling of crisis for us to move past our South
Node. It usually comes from us trying and trying at it but continuing to feel empty and unsatisfied
by our efforts. With the South Node in Aquarius, the breakthrough moment may come when you get
tired of freewheeling your way through your social network, feeling bothered by your lack of special
connection to certain people. You might start getting tired of all of the idealism and intellectualism
as, if unbalanced, this leaves you with a sense of lack. You may also wonder why your romances
just don’t touch you like they touch everyone else or why everyone else gets a chance to shine in
the spotlight while you are too busy watching from the wings or the audience.

This is the moment when you know that you’re ready to embrace your Leo North Node. The thing is
that it’s already inside of you. We’re not learning how to be our North Node. We’re just learning how
to acknowledge those traits within us and actively express them to walk a more conscious and more
enlightened path. So, with the North Node in Leo, you have to shine a light on the part of you that
yearns to be special. Through all of your years of being the audience member, instead of the
performer, or of being the fan, instead of the celebrity, you have internalized the amazing things
about the larger-than-life individuals that you admire so much. It’s like you’ve spent all of your past
as an unknown kid from the middle of nowhere. That’s your South Node in Aquarius. But, you have
harbored such vivid, amazing dreams of getting out of that town, going off to the big city, and
becoming a star. That’s your Leo North Node. And all you’ve got to do is buy the plane ticket.

But, of course, this requires you to believe in yourself. With the Leo North Node, there is an element
of “faking it ‘til you make it.” You naturally don’t give two shits about your “image” and that’s a
great thing about you. It’s what you’re most comfortable with: just living your life and not trying to
create a lot of buzz or hype around yourself. But, at the same time, your spiritual destiny requires
you to create that buzz around yourself. The great thing is that, with an Aquarius South Node, you
won’t get too caught up in all of that. This is where the balance with our Nodes comes from. You’re
supposed to transform your South Node, not leave it behind. Your natural ability to not get too
involved means that you can create the fabulous image you need to succeed while not caring too
much about it. Unlike those with personal planets in Leo, your ego doesn’t get attached to the praise
or the glamour. This ability of yours is like that famous story about Marilyn Monroe (who had a Leo
Rising and an Aquarius Moon). Born as Norma Jean Baker, she was known for turning that pizzazz

22
she had on and off. One day, she turned to a friend of hers, while they were heading out in public,
asked “Do you want to see her?”, as in Marilyn Monroe and not Norma Jean, and suddenly flipped a
switch and became the alluring pin-up goddess for her fans and photographers, instead of the
offbeat, nerdy girl she felt like on the inside.

This placement gives you that same ability but you’ve got to access the audacity and the gall to be
that person. You are so accustomed to paying attention to “more important” things in the world
than yourself. So, Leo North Node people are often afraid to step into the spotlight and strut their
stuff because they just ask themselves, “Who do you think you are? Climate change is happening,
corrupt politicians are trying to take over the world, and you’re worried about people liking the way
you dress or your play getting good reviews?” Well, hey, we all cannot be global thinkers. And this is
something that North Node in Leo individuals just have to release. Yes, it’s wonderful that you are
so concerned with the bigger picture. But, you fit into that bigger picture, don’t you? It’s liberating
for you to, then, realize that everything that happens in the world matters, whether it’s big or small,
whether it affects everyone or if it just affects you.

Therefore, you will evolve by learning to be okay with wanting to be important; not for any other
reason than just expressing your creativity or your specialness. You have spent more than enough
time trying to make everyone else feel special. Now, you’re more than overdue for some me-time.
This is what gives you such a charismatic soul. You are on a higher mission to self-actualize and, in
the process, will discover the powerful charisma that you possess. And this star-quality will actually
be expressed without you caring too much if other people are into it. There will always be a part of
you that’s a rebel or a maverick, thanks to the Aquarius South Node. You’re so used to not being
"famous" and not pursuing that fame that you have an instinct for going against the grain, for taking
the indie or non-mainstream route, so to speak. So, you will be able to achieve the superstardom
you want via your own rules, not by conforming to someone else’s. After all, no one is capable of
selling themselves better than you.

Because of this, there is a part of you that has to become less dependent on your group of buddies.
It’s as if you are a member of a boy band or a girl group yet you’re clearly the one who shines the
brightest. It’s like Beyoncé when she was in Destiny’s Child. Without coincidence, she has the North
Node in Leo. Now, look at her: she’s been a solo artist for almost two decades and is one of the
most celebrated entertainers of her generation. And that didn’t really happen for her until she
started her solo career. It’s the same situation with you. You’re going to have to access and develop
the courage and the confidence needed to step away from the group. Instead of clinging to an “all
for one and one for all” mentality, you have to find the strength of will within to step out and invest
in your own creative endeavors. In this lifetime, you’re allowed to be reasonably self-absorbed. It’s
about you now.

That’s not to say that you have to give your friends the finger. You will always have a lot of friends
and will display a very level-headed, egalitarian kind of loyalty to them. But, what about what you
want? What about what interests you? You need to put yourself back at the center. Of course, this
won’t manifest in the realm of creative projects and pursuits of fame for all Leo North Node folks,
even though it can, in many instances. It can be as simple as you deciding you want to go to the
park, even if your friend wants to go to the movies. Well, if you don’t want to go to see that movie,
don’t go. It’s so easy for you to “go with the flow” and be nonchalant about your personal desires.
But, you will grow spiritually by developing a healthy self-involvement, saying “No, this is what I
want” and then just doing it. And if they’re really your friends, they will support your “solo album”,
whatever it might be. Your friendships can be rather superficial anyway, as it’s so easy for you to

23
make friends that you can call someone that you just met two weeks ago your best friend. But,
when you take command of your own life and do what truly interests you, you will figure out the
difference between actual friends, who support you and are loyal to you no matter what, and casual
acquaintances who you just socialize with and hang with in the same circles.

You are discovering a lot more about yourself, as well. When you express this willful kind of
creativity, you will figure out the things about the creative process of life that give you genuine joy
and confidence. Your self-assurance is burgeoning and blossoming because, when you embrace
your North Node, you can look in the mirror and applaud what you see. This is why you gravitate
toward praise. It’s actually not that much of an ego trip for you. Instead, it’s just a way of other
people affirming the things you’re discovering about yourself: that, yes, you are beautiful, kind,
talented, fun to be around, intelligent, etc. It’s why you find such soul-level fulfillment from
performing. North Node in Leo can produce some highly passionate actors, singers, dancers, and
musicians. Something like writing or drawing often isn’t “involved” enough, even though it can be
enjoyable for you. But, those are more objective, distant art forms and you’re evolving from that.
You actually want to throw yourself in the moment, show people what you’ve got, and then receive
their glowing reviews and loving appreciation like the superstar you were made to be.

This manifests in the area of romance, as well. It is through discovering your ability to show
heartfelt, undivided love that you will grow. The Aquarius South Node has caused you to spread
your attention to everyone, in the past. Now, the cultivation of really special time with a really
special person will bring you true fulfillment. This means that you have to get attached and that you
have to understand just how much your actions affect the other person. You’re so attuned to
everyone that you can become out-of-touch with “the one.” So, you have a tendency to create a lot
of chaos in your romantic relationships and also in close friendships. In a way, you are rebelling
against what you see as the restrictive demands of the other person. Being a weirdo, causing
trouble, or staying detached are often utilized to push the other person away, out of fear, especially
since you can be so puzzled as to what they see in you that’s so special.

But, you have to believe that not only do they want to love you but that they should want to love
you. Then, you can give them the special attention and devotion that they give you. Due to your
naturally strong intellect and powers of observation, you can blend this affection and passion with
an intelligent awareness of what’s going to serve them as an individual. Yet, you are also not
supposed to get too wrapped up in your intellect. Being too rational is a sign that you’re off-track
spiritually. With a Leo North Node, you are supposed to follow your passions. It might make you feel
like a love-crazed teenager, at times. But, that’s how you’re supposed to feel, in this lifetime. You’ve
spent too much time playing it cool. So, let yourself get enthusiastic and swept away: not just by
your love affairs but by anything that catches your fancy. This is why North Node in Leo people have
such karmic connections to children and adolescents. You might spend part of your life resisting a
rapport with these youthful creatures, even when you’re a kid, regarding them in an alien-like way.
But, soon, you will realize that you speak the same language as them. There is a big kid or an
eternal adolescent that resides within your soul. On a certain level, you are meant to never fully
grow up.

NORTH NODE IN VIRGO: THE EFFICIENT SOUL

24
With your North Node in Virgo, this is a lifetime that’s about getting your stuff together. Your
greatest potential lies in being able to develop your latent powers of organization, finding a clear
sense of order in the midst of a lot of chaos. When the North Node is in any of the Earth signs, the
process of growing on a spiritual level is sort of a contradiction. Through this placement, your
spiritual growth comes from being able to handle reality and practicality. What your soul really
wants is to just roll up its sleeves and get things done. This is why the greatest soul-expression for
you is one that’s effective, productive, and specific. You are the efficient soul, feeling deeply fulfilled
by any sort of system, method, or checklist that will aid you in your work from day to day.

In order to realize this potential within, you have to overcome the pitfalls of your South Node. The
Virgo North Node gives you a Pisces South Node. So, there is a part of you that is not organized at
all. In fact, it’s much easier and more comfortable for you to just drift along in a very nonlinear
fashion, not trying too much to make logical sense out of anything or anyone, including yourself.
Now, the good thing about having the South Node in Pisces is that you are blessed with an innately
spiritual, metaphysical mentality. You already know the meaning of blissful acceptance, allowing the
Universe, God, Goddess, or whatever Greater Force you believe in (and the vast majority of Pisces
South Node folks believe in some Higher Power) have its way. You are capable of amazing inner
peace, as a result. You are also innately compassionate toward other people, easily putting yourself
in their shoes, and naturally imaginative in ways that can give life a very magical feeling.

The issues you encounter, though, involve being so intent on surrendering your will to something or
someone bigger than yourself that you forget or neglect to do the work you need to do. Thanks to
the Pisces South Node, you’re so busy letting go that it’s all too easy for you to lose your grip
altogether. This doesn’t just mean having unrealistic or delusional expectations. It can also mean
becoming increasingly irrational, to the point where you feel like you’re losing your mind. These are
all problems that have stemmed from your past life. The South Node represents the most recent or
a very recent past life and the things that weren’t resolved during that time. I usually say that many
people don’t believe in past lives. But, if you have the South Node in Pisces, you most likely not only
believe in past lives but feel profoundly connected to yours. Pisces is a very karmic sign and, with
the South Node in this sign, you live out your past-life karma in a very powerful way.

You were a highly spiritual being in your past life. A very common interpretation of this placement is
a past life as a nun or a monk. Now, of course, you could have lived in a convent or a monastery.
But, it’s more complex than that. You might have just been someone who was very dedicated to
their spiritual life in this former existence, in a way that made you not feel of this world. Pisces
South Node folks usually struggled with an attitude of persecution, isolation, and/or self-victimization
in their past life. It was so easy for you to feel like a victim who nobody cared about in a harsh, cold
world. However, you continued to serve as an unworldly example by being very empathetic,
forgiving, and accepting. Maybe you were constantly taken advantage of because of that, only
repeating the cycle of feeling like a victim. Little did you realize, though, that this was your own
doing. You were only a victim in this life because you chose to be.

A past life of intentional suffering is a big theme with the Pisces South Node. Playing the role of the
martyr as well as the victim, indulging in patterns of endless self-sacrifice, fueled this suffering.
Somehow, you felt like you were supposed to do this. You were always supposed to be selfless and
kind and unconditionally loving. But, this mindset made you fail to create strong boundaries, for
others as well as for yourself. Just as you might have been terribly deceived and taken advantage
of, you also could be very deceptive and a sponge toward others. Because you never really got your
act together, you were always someone who was in need, taking the charity of other people in one

25
way or another. Instead of learning to help yourself, you were more than willing to be helped,
particularly because you never knew how to insist that others help themselves, either.

This placement also typically shows someone who was an artist in their past life. You might have
made it a profession or it might have just been a private hobby. Either way, it only aided your ability
to completely get lost in your fantasies. Pisces South Node people were often the typical tortured
artists in their former life. While you possessed exceptional talent and vision, your giftedness ended
up haunting you and causing you self-destruction. You could’ve become a drug addict or an
alcoholic, too sensitive to handle your problems without self-medicating. You could’ve allowed your
vivid imagination to make you highly deluded. This made you someone who became more and more
removed from reality. Severe isolation could’ve resulted, as the world became too overwhelming or
harsh for you, forcing you to live in your own little world. Such isolation drove you increasingly nuts,
to the point of serious emotional disorders or a full-on breakdown.

All of these problems were never resolved in your past life. So, they have been carried over into this
life in order to be dealt with, once and for all. More than the average person, you are particularly
haunted by the weight of your past life. This karmic debt could be something you’re virtually
drowning in now. These issues have also had a very powerful influence on your past in this lifetime,
as well. So, when does the breakthrough moment occur when you are finally ready to embrace your
North Node in Virgo? It can come from you spending so much time feeling like you’re losing your
mind that you’re desperate to gain clarity and better judgment. It can be that you’re sick of feeling
like life is always taking a dump on you and you want to figure out how to turn all of your problems
around. It might also be that you’re tired of having such terrible boundaries and feel this yearning to
be more discerning and to not have to be full of unconditional love all the time.

This is when your Virgo North Node has been awakened. Throughout your highly chaotic past, a
part of you has developed within that just wants to make sense out of all of this. While it’s more of a
kneejerk reaction for you to just let go and let the problem become resolved, it actually still leaves
you in a state of anxiety. Focusing too much on the South Node leaves one feeling empty and
dissatisfied. With the South Node in Pisces, when you stay in that state of surrender too often or for
too long, then you are actually just going to feel worse. Temporary bliss may come but followed by
greater worry, then growing paranoia, depression, and full-on craziness. And the trick is that the
Universe has a way of denying us of what our South Node wants until we learn to develop our North
Node. So, the more you try to just let go and forget your problems, the worse and worse your
problems will become. This ends up building to a critical degree, leaving you stuck with a giant mess
on your hands and no idea what to do.

Well, the solution is to clean up the mess! Your North Node in Virgo is the part of your soul that just
wants to fix these problems you have on your hands. Due to the powerful fantasy life and deep
sense of spirituality of the Pisces South Node, you have a way of thinking that things are supposed
to just happen like magic. You can definitely be one of those people who believes that blessings are
supposed to fall out of the sky or appear to you whenever you need them. Life doesn’t exactly work
that way for any of us. But, for you, it’s definitely not going to work that way. Instead, you need to
just buckle down and get real. Things are not going to happen, change, or get fixed until you put in
the hard work and the practical effort. In this lifetime, you are meant to develop the side of yourself
that knows how to be productive and how to work for positive results.

Accessing, expressing, and strengthening this efficient higher self will put you on the right track. Of
course, there is a balance that is required with the Nodes. You are not supposed to give up your

26
imagination and your free-flowing approach altogether. The South Node is made to be transformed,
not left behind. And it’s what brings out the very best in your North Node. Unlike many people with
personal planets in Virgo, your way of working hard and getting results is not going to be anal-
retentive or obsessive-compulsive. The natural fluidity that you’re born with actually puts you in that
magical state of flow: where you’re working so hard that it’s like you get totally lost in another
world. For Virgo North Node people, work is often a positive substitute for their addictive, escapist
tendencies. You can get lost in your work yet also not be a workaholic.

You will also understand how to use your gift of visualization and imagination to turn your plans into
a reality. Fantasizing about doing something practical and then taking all of the necessary steps to
make that practical vision happen is one of the best ways to balance out your Nodes. You’re off-
track spiritually if you’re just fantasizing for the sake of fantasizing. You can get so utterly lost in
your internal life than whole hours, possibly even days, pass you by without you realizing it. “Where
did the time go?”, you ask, which is why it can be so easy for you to run late on a regular basis.
Instead of living in a state of timelessness, you are actually supposed to be managing your time.
Your soul really wants to run on a reliable, consistent schedule. Having routine in your life is going
to keep you fulfilled and prevent you from stagnating into a very passive, careless state.

Disciplining yourself to use your reflective, introspective periods for something useful is the key to
your growth. And yes, you might actually be an artist. A lot of Virgo North Node people are. But,
even as an artist, you need to maintain a firm self-discipline. You can’t afford to be one of those
artists who just lives off of inspiration and only goes with the flow. You must work really hard at
it, doing something with all that imagination, soul, and intuition. It’s why North Node in Virgo artists
really benefit from having formal training and also from consistently forcing themselves to practice
and to master their skills. You must live by “practice makes perfect”, discovering your latent skill of
working harder than three people put together in order to master a skill or deliver a service.

Through this heightened awareness, you’ll learn that if you put half the energy you put into your
free time into working, you’d be able to accomplish so much more. When you talk about addictions
with this placement, it doesn’t just mean drugs and alcohol, which is the tricky thing about how this
energy manifests. You can be just as much of an addict when it comes to binge-watching movies or
television shows, listening to music, browsing the Internet, sleeping, etc. Anything that takes you
away from the present moment can become an insatiable addiction. It’s why you have to moderate
these activities. It’s not that you can’t enjoy them. But, when you feel yourself gravitating toward
them in order to out-run feelings, problems, or pressing realities, you have to avoid them, stop and
figure out what’s actually going on.

As a person with the North Node in Virgo, you cannot be one of those people who is just content to
get stuck in their feelings without finding a solution. This will definitely cause you to be a drain to
others but it can also cause you to attract really draining people who just want to complain and
don’t want to help themselves. Your past experience of dealing with lost causes as well as being
quite a lost cause yourself can make it tempting to just give in to them with displays of sympathy
and kindness. But, you need to take a different approach. I’m not saying don’t be compassionate.
Your empathy is a wonderful gift. Yet, you need to use that empathy in a practical way. Figure out
how you can make the other person feel better. And I don’t just mean saying “there, there,
everything will be okay.” Come up with a plan. Your higher self is a planner and you must utilize
your natural intuition to guide you toward the best plan, for others’ happiness and your own.

27
If they are not willing to receive your help, then you have to let them go. This is how things need to
change for you. Instead of constantly letting go in order to avoid your problems, you have to let go
of the things and the people that will only bring more problems into your life. If you have a friend
who’s so self-absorbed and needy that they monopolize your time and resources too much, just pick
up the phone less when they call. Maybe you can stop speaking to them for a while or even clearly
tell them, “I think we need a break.” The same thing goes for your relatives, co-workers,
partners/spouses, children, the people on the subway, etc. You just give and give and give. If you
stepped back and realized how much emotional energy you let people sap from you, you’d be
amazed. You’ve got to set some limits! And that requires you to use your judgment.

The North Node in Virgo allows you to realize your full potential when you unlock your ability to
judge people; within reason, of course. In spite of your tenderhearted feeling of oneness with
humanity, you have an inner voice that can’t help but say things like, “Wow, what an asshole” or
“He doesn’t seem very bright” or “She’s a very superficial person.” Since you’re more comfortable
with being unconditionally accepting or loving, you can be quite horrified and uneasy with your more
critical side. But, the fact is that being able to judge others is a part of your humanity. We all do it,
to some degree. And you know what? It’s often necessary. Even though we shouldn’t judge other
people to the point of cruelty or coldness, we do need to make objective assessments of others to
figure out how to deal with them. But, if you’re too busy not only being a beacon of Love and Light
but not seeing the faults of others clearly, you won’t be able to do this and you’ll be falling short of
your higher self. Instead of always seeing the good in others, you sometimes need to see the bad,
in order to get a clearer view of them and to deal with them in a healthier way.

Yes, no one will ever be all bad. But, your Pisces South Node’s ability to gloss over other people’s
faults and wrongdoings can make you a magnet for all sorts of toxic, abusive, dysfunctional, or just
plain disappointing individuals and relationships. If you can stop and say, “No, no. This is messed
up”, you’ll be strengthening your acute vision. It can feel very painful to hear the stained-glass
illusion you have of someone else or a situation in your life shatter. But, this is the path that you
need to take in order to figure out how to deal with the person or the situation. The Virgo North
Node wants to fix and to correct. But, you cannot do that unless you stop to truly figure out what
needs fixing and correcting. Keeping a journal for all of your observations, ideas, and thoughts
would be perfect, as well. Analysis is a wonderful skill of yours, once you take the time to develop it.
Trust your intuition but not to a blind degree. Critical thinking is the way to go for you.

A wonderful intelligence results from this. Not only can you understand how to do things efficiently
but you can figure out how to say them just as efficiently. You have the soul of a real intellectual,
capable of communicating in very articulate, precise ways. The more you remain interested in the
specifics of things, the more you will feel your brainpower being strengthened. North Node in Virgo
people make for great listeners, analyzing your every word, as they are discovering their ability to
figure out all the little details of things. Throughout your process of growth, you will surprise
yourself with how clear of a thinker and speaker you can be. You possess a level of common-sense
intelligence that can get you through each and every day with great effectiveness. Your soul’s higher
level of expression will cause people to turn to you, left and right, for advice, assistance, and
constructive criticism. You’ll be very fulfilled by serving people in this way, understanding that
teaching a man to fish is a rather underrated, understated form of compassion.

NORTH NODE IN LIBRA: THE REFINED SOUL
Being born with the North Node in the sign of Libra indicates that this lifetime is a partnership
lifetime for you. Your greatest potential will be realized through being the best companion you can
be, whether in romance, in friendship, or in any other partnership with other people. North Node in
Libra individuals possess a soul that has a deep yearning to just get along with others. True
fulfillment, for you, stems from being able to achieve this harmony and this easy sense of
understanding with other people. Throughout your process of spiritual growth and personal
evolution, you will discover how to tap into the side of yourself that is charming, loving, thoughtful,
and kind. We always have our North Node within us. It’s just deep down inside and we have to
challenge ourselves to become aware of this part of ourselves and bring it to the light.

What could possibly be getting in the way? Your South Node in Aries, of course. The South Node is
the comfort zone that we cling to that keeps us so stuck in our ways that we struggle to really
access and develop our latent North Node strengths and potential. Before you can evolve into this
elegant, lovely peacemaker, you have to contend with the part of yourself that sees everything as a
fight and a competition. With an Aries South Node, you are at your most counterproductive when
you remain in a mode that is overly aggressive and headstrong. It’s most natural for you to want
what you want and just go out and get it, no questions asked. But, it can be difficult for you to stop
and realize the people you’re stepping on or running over in the process. This blind sort of
selfishness is your Achilles’ heel. If you stay caught up in it, you’re not going to be able to grow.

The theory of the South Node is that it is the result of our actions from our past life. It’s a karmic
debt that we have amassed prior to this lifetime. It’s why you cannot stay focused on your South
Node. If you believe that continuing to be this way is going to bring you satisfaction, it’s like trying
to go on a shopping spree with a maxed-out credit card. It’s just not going to work. With the South
Node in Aries, you are coming from a very recent past life where it was all about you. In this former
lifetime, you constantly put yourself first. While this made you a brave, enterprising, self-reliant
individual, never backing down from what you want and always able to take care of yourself, it also
made you, unsurprisingly, more than a little self-absorbed. You spent this last life in a highly self-
involved state, forever focused on what you wanted and needed, to a degree that blotted out the
needs, desires, and feelings of the folks around you.

I have my own theory about the Aries South Node. I think this is a placement that often shows
someone who lived a very short past life. I believe that many (although not all, of course) people
with the South Node in Aries died young in their most recent past life or in a very recent past life.
This was probably the natural result of living life in the fast lane, as well as being unable to heed
anyone’s advice on anything. You were too headstrong and foolish to listen, which eventually led to
your downfall. And the fact that you might have died as a teenager, twenty-something, or around
the age of 30 means that you never had time to really slow down. You also left that former life in a
very selfish state, as a lot of people tend to be in their youth. You didn’t have the opportunity to
learn how to not be self-involved and how to be truly giving and compromising in your relationships.
Even if you didn’t die young in your last life, this was still something you never really learned.

Your personal relationships suffered, as a result. Sure, you might have accomplished everything you
wanted to. But, there was no one to share that with. You could’ve gone very long stretches of time
being single or bouncing from one messy relationship to the next. No one could tolerate your
selfishness and willfulness for long. Even in friendships, you were often quite careless and
thoughtless. Yet, there was usually no harm meant by any of your actions. You just lived a life

29
where everything felt urgent and like an emergency. Sometimes, you see Aries South Node people
who were soldiers, cops, firefighters, or athletes in their former life. Therefore, you were so used to
things being charged with a feeling of competition, urgency, and even danger that you never knew
how to just calm down. You could go from zero to sixty in a heartbeat, especially with that fiery
temper. You also never had time for social niceties because they prevented you from really going for
the jugular, in the way you were used to, and getting what you wanted.

These issues were never resolved in your last life. So, they are your unfinished business. You have
brought them over into this life in order to be truly confronted and settled. The South Node will keep
haunting you until you conquer it. It usually emerges in the form of a nagging sense of
dissatisfaction and emptiness. Now, as I always say, even if you don’t believe in past lives, the
South Node is still about your past in this present lifetime, as well. So, regardless, you can still look
back and see the wreckage that your Aries South Node has left. In this life, you have been very
wrapped up in yourself, to the point of constantly burning other people with your lack of
consideration. You have been too quick on the trigger, too impatient, and too focused on the fight of
life that you make things more difficult than they need to be. A certain point has to come where
you’re fed up with all of this. Hopefully, the breakthrough moment happens when you’re tired of
your love affairs or friendships crashing and burning, when you’re exhausted by always having to
prove yourself, and when you wish you could just be a nicer, gentler human being.

This is when your North Node in Libra will be awakened. The North Node builds inside of oneself in
response to never really getting what your South Node wants. The Universe keeps our South Node’s
desires and goals away from us until we are able to unlock and express our North Node. With a
Libra North Node, your South Node in Aries’ goal of constantly coming out on top will be thwarted,
again and again, until you get the message. Maybe, as hard as you fight and struggle and try, you
still end up coming out the “loser” in the situation (and nothing aggravates you more than losing!).
Maybe you still win, on a surface level, but it’s never enough. You’re hungry for more and will do
whatever it takes. But, of course, this kind of cutthroat spirit does not win you any friends and,
eventually, you end up being forced to eat some humble pie by being taken down by others.

Eventually, you must realize that it’s important to be as respectful to the competition as possible.
After a long time of either constantly losing or having to relentlessly fight to remain the winner,
either in your mind or in reality, you become tired of the endless battle. Instead of wanting to outdo
everyone, you turn toward the path of wanting to work together with other people. Enlightenment,
for you, comes from understanding how sweet a victory can be when it’s
achieved alongside someone else, instead of against them. This strengthens the expression of your
Libra North Node. It’s your higher calling to discover how to truly cooperate with people and co-exist
harmoniously with them. You will still have an appetite for winning, thanks to the Aries South Node.
Your South Node will never, and should never, disappear completely. So, you’re always going to be
a warrior. But, now, you have to be a warrior in the name of love, not just for yourself and for
personal glory.

With your vast experience of taking action and getting things done, you will have the tactical skill to
be an excellent mediator in any sort of interpersonal situation. You’re very used to pushing people’s
buttons and not backing down from a fight. But, all this time, your soul has developed an ability to
ask just why the fight took place, who started it, what their motivation was, and how everything can
be resolved. So, your higher self is meant to bring conflicts between other people to a place of
peace, instead of just creating the conflicts. The good thing about this is that, unlike many a Libra
Sun or Moon, you’re actually not scared of confrontation. A balanced expression of the Nodes brings

30
out the very best in the North Node sign. Therefore, North Node in Libra people know how to work
hard to keep the peace without being wishy-washy about it or running away when things escalate.

It’s very natural for things to escalate quickly with you. Managing your hair-trigger temper and
explosive impatience is another part of your spiritual journey. This is why I see you as the refined
soul. You are realizing your greatest potential by being able to smooth out your rough edges. We
can surprise ourselves when we really get into our North Node’s way of being. It’s been inside of us
all along! Libra North Node people, therefore, can be very surprised at how well-mannered and
polite they are capable of being. At your worst, you can be quite abrasive, rude, and exasperating.
It’s enough to make you feel like you’re just not that nice of a person. But, you are far nicer than
you realize. You have actually been so tired of being so rough-around-the-edges that a part of your
spirit, deep down inside, has been wondering how to be more graceful and sophisticated. Due to
your competitive instincts, you can size up other people who seem to be winning at the social game,
charming and delighting everyone they come across, and figure out how to beat them.

Whatever you set your mind to, you can achieve. So, that same headstrong determination can be
applied to transforming into a more refined individual. It’s like those with the North Node in Libra go
through a lifetime of Charm School but by their own doing. You will always want to do things your
way. At the same time, you must develop the ability to truly take in the input and the perspective of
the other person in the situation. Instead of just barreling through everything, only thinking about
your point of view, you must realize how valuable and important it is for you to genuinely receive
and often even follow the feedback of other people. It doesn’t make you a follower. It just means
that you’re becoming open to more ideas than your own. After all, relationships are a crucial part of
your spiritual growth and no relationship can thrive without that kind of compromise. You’re not
compromising yourself. You’re just figuring out how to make things work with others.

Your higher self is an excellent boyfriend/girlfriend, wife/husband, or friend to others. You need to
put the passionate energy you channel into your pursuits and your goals into your personal
relationships. But, you are independent to a fault, meaning that you think you’re perfectly well-off
by just going at it alone and living your life exactly the way you want to live it. Again, no one’s
telling you to give up your self-reliance. It provides a balance in your relationships that prevents you
from being too needy. However, it is crucial for you to understand that, yes, you do need somebody.
Too much time living the single life is actually not good for Libra North Node individuals nor is doing
too many things by themselves. This makes you fall back on that comfort zone of only seeing things
your way. So, you need to push yourself toward consistent, steady companionship, whether it’s
romantic or platonic. This forces you to remain open and to remember to think of others.

You’re very used to either draining people, hurting their feelings, or making them angry. It can seem
like you offend without even meaning to! Such a pattern has caused an inner voice to develop that
makes you think, “What did I do wrong?” As much as your Aries South Node loves to be
unapologetic toward others, you are actually more bothered when you upset people or when people
don’t like you than you’d like to admit. Pushing forward regardless of the effect on others may be
what you’re used to but it doesn’t actually fulfill you. What fulfills you is learning how to take the
other person’s response into consideration. Instead of just responding in a totally impulsive, self-
absorbed way, you have to take it easier. Be gentler, figure out what the other person is thinking or
feeling, and then move forward or say what you want to say. You find it very easy to be honest and
straightforward. But, don’t be so honest that you’re only caught up in what you feel or think.

31
This will often require you to apologize; something that does not come easily to you. But, you have
to remember that nobody is faultless. There are times when you mess up. Because you live with a
no-regrets attitude, you usually just shrug it off when things go wrong, say “oh, well”, and move on.
If you keep doing that, you’ll be moving on with no one by your side and that will keep you off-track
spiritually. So, you will truly evolve when you realize how to check in with your partner or friend,
find out if they’re okay or not okay, figure out what went wrong, and make the effort to make it
right. Your way of saying “sorry” could be just by saying the actual words (which will probably feel
like speaking a foreign language, at first) or doing something very kind and thoughtful to make up
for it. In this lifetime, tenderness, sweetness, and consideration go a very long way for you, keeping
your relationships a success. And when your relationships are a success, you’re a success.

Those with the North Node in Libra are at their best when they are a part of a team. You might find
that things you try to do on your own eventually end up stagnating and going nowhere. That’s
because the Universe wants you to work alongside others toward success. This will make you the
most fulfilled and bring out your true potential. Whether you realize it or not, you will get a lot of
help from other people. In your most selfish phase, you might overlook the contributions of others,
too stuck in your me-against-the-world mentality. But, when you are on the right path, you will be
able to step back and realize how you and the other person have come together to create
something great, whether it’s a project, a business, or any other joint venture that can bring you
both joy. It’s not about being completed by the other person. It’s about joining forces with them in
order to complete something that only the two of you could. Besides, you’re so impulsive and
impatient that you usually aren’t actually able to finish things on your own. You’re a fantastic starter
and initiator. You just require someone to pass the baton to when you get bored.

Eventually, you will reach the stage where you aren’t just living for yourself. You are living for the
pleasure and the peace you can experience with others and bring to others. Helping people find
their happiness (which is not the same as being a people-pleaser) is what this lifetime is supposed
to be about for you. As a result, you will attract the right kind of people who will help you find your
happiness in life. You have the potential to become highly popular and likable. It’s hard for someone
to resist a person who just sincerely wants the best for them. Even if a relationship ends, you have
the ability to understand that your mate or your friend might be happier elsewhere or with someone
else. So, instead of it turning into a vicious battle, you can give them your blessing and your love at
the parting. The North Node in Libra is opening you up to the love that is available everywhere, if
you are ready to receive it. So, when one door closes, another can open amazingly fast for you,
bringing you a lot of positive experiences in the relationship department.

Developing your thinking skills is another aspect of your spiritual journey. You must now think
before you act and before you speak. Considering your perspective and the other person’s
perspective and then finding a solution is the key in any relationship. But, the Libra North Node is
making you more thoughtful in a lot of ways. Your newfound sense of balance can emerge in a way
that’s highly cultured and intelligent. Anything in the arts can awaken your intellectual side, as you
can view these things from a very refined, high-minded perspective. Your elegance can also shine
through in any social situation. You’re sort of like a new-money socialite, impressing and stunning all
sorts of people with your newly gained classiness and sophistication. This only draws more admirers
your way who seek to get closer to you and bask in that graceful glow.

NORTH NODE IN SCORPIO: THE PASSIONATE SOUL
If you were born with the North Node in Scorpio, you were meant to evolve into an impassioned,
empowered individual. There is a higher self within that understands and embraces the depths of
life. Everyone’s North Node is located deep down within themselves. But, with a Scorpio North Node,
this is a part of your soul that goes especially deep. In this life, you will realize your greatest
potential when you can make life something that gets your heart pounding and your blood racing.
For you, things are supposed to be a bit risky, slightly dangerous, allowing you to teeter right on the
edge. It might not make sense but embracing a bit of that danger is what you’re made for. What
your soul really wants is to engage in a high-wire act, with not much of a net underneath. It’s
through this approach that you will embrace the emotional power that you have within.

But, what could stand in the way of this life-changing intensity? Your Taurus South Node, of course.
With this placement, it is all too easy to get stuck in your ways. I think Scorpio North Node people
have one of the most challenging, if not the most challenging, paths to walk because your comfort
zone is so comfortable that you just don’t want to leave it. In fact, it might not make any sense at
all to leave it. Yet, your natural common sense can be much less effective when you dig in your
heels and refuse to budge. With the South Node in Taurus, your worst habits come from being
stubborn for the sake of being stubborn, unable to go with the flow of the inevitable changes of life.
Therefore, you might feel like you’re being totally practical by sticking to your routines, clinging to
your possessions, or insisting on your values. But, little do you know that these things have gone
past their expiration date and being unable to do away with them will only hurt you, in the end.

We look at a person’s past life when we look at the South Node. Having the South Node in the sign
of Taurus tells me that you experienced a ton of comfort, ease, and luxury in either your most
recent past life or a very recent one. In this former existence, you could just kick back and relax.
There was a lot of simplicity and groundedness to this lifestyle. In many ways, you were very skilled
at establishing security and stability for yourself. All you needed was plenty of money, good food,
nice things, and the people you loved to be happy. You were far from a complicated person. But,
this ended up shooting you in the foot, after a while. You were so simple-minded that you were
unable to handle the complexities of life, of yourself, or of other people. Anything that was too
intense, dramatic, or chaotic was resisted by you. But, the thing is that you were so insistent on
things being peaceful and stable that the slightest disturbance could feel like unwelcome drama.

Due to your inability to put yourself through these emotional fires, you never really grew as a
person. You remained very stagnant on a psychological level. Since you were so practical, you didn’t
see the reason why you had to change your ways. You equated happiness with the things that you
owned. So, as long as you had financial and material security, why complain? But, this kept you in a
very superficial mindset, unable to understand the deeper elements that were at play in your
psyche, in your relationships, and in life in general. You were too busy counting your cash! One
possibility with the Taurus South Node is that you went through your past life as a very financially
well-off person. Maybe you were born into money and just never had to worry about it. But, this
created an attitude of greed and materialism that racked up some negative karma. Another
possibility is that you weren’t born into money. Instead, you displayed the determination needed to
establish a very self-made wealth for yourself. But, like the spoiled and self-indulgent type, you too
displayed a really greedy attitude toward money, probably because you never had it before.

The ways in which you made your money were utterly practical; a little too practical. Whether you
came from a wealthy background or created your own material comfort, you were given the

33
message that the bottom line is all that counts. Go out and make money! But, what about the
motivation behind it? Making money for money’s sake is a trap you really fell into in this former
lifetime. It’s something that prevented you from knowing and investing in your true passion,
especially if it didn’t provide stable or practical income. This lack of passion defined your
relationships with others, as well. While you were a laidback, reliable, and down-to-earth person, the
intimacy of these relationships suffered because you were never willing to truly go deep. Instead,
you settled for a ho-hum, uneventful way of connecting to others. No depth, no fire, no real
intimacy; just sitting around and having dinner and reading and going to bed and doing it again.

A big reason behind this was how easy it was for you to fall into a routine and remain trapped within
it. South Node in Taurus people are coming from a past where they stuck to the “same old, same
old” in various ways. On a very basic level, it meant that you were an absolute creature of habit who
couldn’t conceive of changing these habits. Change was a very terrifying concept for you in your
past life. It was a deep threat to the security you worked so hard for. The slightest change in your
life could send your normally calm self into a complete freak-out, as if it meant that the entire sky
would come crashing down. Also, you found psychological habits just as difficult to break, if not
more. You often saw no practical reason for it, even if these habits drove people away or ruined
relationships. You were so insistent on being comfortable and at ease that you wanted desperately
to believe that you didn’t have any problems or issues that couldn’t be simply, easily resolved. But,
of course, life is not that simple for anyone.

These problems went unresolved in this last life of yours. Therefore, they have been carried over
into this lifetime in order to be settled and dealt with. Even if you’re not into the theory of past lives,
all of what I just said has definitely manifested in your past in this current life. No matter what,
Taurus South Node people are coming from a past, in this life or in another one, where their
stubbornness, superficiality, and self-indulgence got the best of them. It’s all going to come to a
head now, in the present. The breakthrough moment for you, in terms of your South Node, could be
the fact that you are so stuck in a rut that you feel like you’re in quicksand and you can’t get out. It
might come from having a supposedly happy, stable life but feeling like it’s all very empty and
meaningless. It could also be that you want to develop a deeper, richer emotional life, creating a
connection to the self and others that is far more complex than just everyday living.

This is when you know that you’re ready to embrace your Scorpio North Node. The Universe keeps
denying us what our South Node wants and/or makes that area of life difficult until we focus on our
North Node. So, if you remain preoccupied with practical, routine, predictable living, you are going
to continue to hit a wall until you wise up. With the North Node in Scorpio, there is an intense part
of your soul that has unconsciously developed in response to this over-simplicity. Deep down, you
have wondered if there is more to life than this. All the mysteries and subtleties and complexities
that make up the human existence are what you have been unconsciously craving. This inner
yearning has constantly undermined your overly straightforward mentality. Every time you try to
keep it simple, there’s this nagging feeling inside of you that something else is going on.

While one of the negative traits of Scorpio is paranoia and suspicion, with the North Node in this
sign, it’s more of a healthy suspicion. Nothing and no one are entirely what they seem. Gaining
conscious awareness of this allows your higher soul-expression of the psychologist and the detective
to rise to the surface. In order to evolve, you must be willing to dig deep and figure out what’s really
going on. First off, this translates to other people. By transforming the expression of your Taurus
South Node, you will be able to use this grounded simplicity to support the shrewd, uncanny
intuition that your Scorpio North Node is capable of. After all, like I always say, it’s about

34
transforming the South Node, not leaving it behind altogether. If you use your natural levelness as a
base for your “investigations”, you will display the common sense needed to see very
straightforwardly into the hidden truths around you. You’ll be able to read people and situations as
easily as you would a book because those complicated answers come to you with complete ease.

This insight should be turned inward as well as outward. As a Scorpio North Node, you realize your
greater potential by being able to investigate yourself, as well. Instead of seeing introspection and
psychoanalysis as being silly and unnecessary, you must see the value in this process. The thing is
that, as a person with the South Node in Taurus, you have very strong values. That’s why they’re so
difficult to budge. So, whatever you see as valuable, you will manifest it and maintain it in wonderful
ways. Therefore, you have to develop your internal awareness and see the understanding of your
deeper emotions as a very valuable thing, like a currency. In fact, you have to – and stay with me
here – see your inner life as being more valuable than the money in your pocket. The North Node is
what we have to focus on, while the South Node is what we’ve already had enough of. You’re
already experienced in material riches. Now, you have to build your emotional riches.

The way I like to see the dichotomy of Taurus and Scorpio is that Taurus makes you financially rich
and Scorpio makes you psychologically rich. When you invest in your “emotional currency”, you win
in this lifetime. The Scorpio North Node means that you need to work just as hard on and be just as
dedicated to developing your inner depth. Take the time you need to reflect in a profound way.
Explore any issues from your past, figure out what’s going on with you emotionally, examine any
barriers or defenses that are getting in the way of you and true intimacy. In this way, you will earn a
lot of valuable emotional resources. That’s what Scorpio is about to me: inner resources, not other
people’s money. And these inner resources are needed to get you through tough times, to overcome
your issues, and to amazingly transform yourself.

In doing this, you will have to discover some unsettling things. Because of your comfort-loving
Taurus South Node, it is a significant challenge for you to embrace those uncomfortable emotions
within. Scorpio North Node folks can spend a great deal of their lives fooling themselves into
thinking that they don’t have a dark side; that they don’t get angry, depressed, jealous, self-
loathing, or just plain irrational. But, here’s the thing: you can’t find true fulfillment in this lifetime
until you deal with those difficult feelings. With this placement, you experience spiritual growth by
embracing that scary person you have inside of you. This shadow self might scare you more than
anyone, especially since you would much rather prefer that everything remain stable and easy. But,
understanding the ways in which you can be potentially unstable actually brings great rewards. For
those who have the North Node in a Water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), the Element which
represents emotion and irrationality, positive growth comes from being able to go a little psycho.

I’m not saying become destructive and criminally insane. What I am saying is that you have to
understand your shadows and know what to do with them. The best way to put it to you, thanks to
your pragmatic Taurus South Node, is seeing those emotions as needing a “savings account.” You
can store away your rage, hatred, sadness, or scariness in this psychological savings account,
managing it and saving it up until you really need to use it. This might mean when you need to have
a moment of real emotional honesty with someone, when you need to face and overcome certain
issues, once and for all, or just when you need a cathartic release. Getting into something artistic
can work wonders for you because it allows you to get all of that out! Your shadows cannot be
ignored in this life. If they are, they will find a way to make you increasingly stagnant until you’re
just hit with such overwhelming boredom and complacency that you’re desperate to make a change.

35
North Node in Scorpio people are figuring out that, deep down, they don’t want many dull moments.
This is what makes you the passionate soul. You actually don’t want everything to be nice and easy.
You want to experience some tempests, some trials and tribulations. You might actually end up
sabotaging yourself, in this sense, because you can unconsciously get yourself stuck in some really
upsetting situations just to wake yourself up. Your Taurus South Node finds it hard to let go once it’s
invested. So, you may have a habit of attracting or creating some upsetting, intense situation and
then not being able to get out of it. And while you may convince yourself that everything is fine, an
inner storm is brewing that becomes increasingly hard to ignore. Eventually, something will have to
explode or implode to get your attention. You’re incredibly hard-headed, to a point where you miss
what’s really happening. So, often times, change happens in your life that’s not at all of your doing.
The Universe forces it on you and keeps doing it to the point where you can no longer say “no.”

This is a process that you need to embrace. Just let the transformation happen. Don’t cling so hard
to what or who you have. Also, don’t insist so much on possessing things and people so tightly. I’m
not saying don’t seek stability. You will always have a knack for being grounded and living a
relatively consistent life. But, you should also keep a loose hold on what or who is around you. In
doing so, you will actually end up feeling so much better. I can’t think of a better metaphor for this
placement than the show “Hoarders.” These people keep endless stuff for years and years that have
completely worn out their use or that are actually making themselves or their lives much worse.
Then, once it’s all cleaned out, they feel so much better and a process of emotional purging and
healing takes place. You are a hoarder, on a literal or metaphorical level. So, let your “space” be
cleaned out, overhauled, transformed. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the wonders that it works.

It can not only heal you emotionally but it can also rebalance your finances. In spite of how sensible
you are by nature, there is a part of you that can mishandle money through unnecessary spending,
accumulating, or hoarding. Whether it’s the storage space that you have to pay for every month for
that stuff you never use or the new car you just had to buy even though you have a perfectly fine
one in the driveway, you will financially benefit from letting go of what no longer serves you. Those
with a Scorpio North Node are figuring out how to do this with people, as well. You might put up
with toxic family members and friends far beyond the point where you should’ve requested some
distance or even cut them off. If you stop being so attached to a consistent picture of your life in
your head, you can take the time to visualize what will truly fulfill you. In doing this, you can use
your natural gift of manifestation, weeding the negative people out and drawing the people toward
you who will truly support you. Also, it takes just as much courage for you to figure out how you
might be behaving as an unhealthy influence in someone else’s life and what to do to change.

Your North Node in Scorpio is requiring some fierce, often ruthless emotional honesty. Embrace
what you’re really feeling, even if, or often especially if, it hurts. This will allow you to get truly real
with the people in your life, not just clinging to a level of predictable harmony. I’m not saying be
cruel or vicious. But, do not hold back, on a general level, and see who can stand the heat. Those
who can appreciate, respect, and honor your emotional truth are the keepers. This translates on a
sexual level, as well. The development of your passion is also about sex. But, it’s not just about
“doing it.” It’s about all the feelings, needs, and complex desires that drive sex. You need to take a
more nuanced, insightful view of sexuality. In doing so, you will not only be able to emerge as a
sex-positive being but wield your powerfully healing touch on your partner. By creating a truly
intimate dialogue where you both can be fully honest about what you want sexually, no matter how
light or dark it is, you will be living out your higher self, with no shame and no fear.

NORTH NODE IN SAGITTARIUS: THE CANDID SOUL
When you have the North Node in Sagittarius, you are someone who was meant to live this life in
pursuit of truth and conviction. For you, true and deep fulfillment will occur when you learn to see
everything as one, endless journey; as an exploration that just keeps going and going. This keeps
you in a mindset that allows you to remain open to all of the possibilities ahead of you. Sagittarius
North Node individuals realize their full potential when they continue to move forward, fueled by a
genuine sense of inspiration and faith. You really have to believe that the Universe is on your side
and wants wonderful things for you. That kind of attitude leads to great things for everyone. But, it’s
crucial for you to develop this mentality as it keeps you enthusiastic and positive. You also must
embrace full-on honesty, trusting that it’s all coming from a positive place.

Yet, you are going to have to overcome the pitfalls of your Gemini South Node in order to reach this
place of consciousness. The South Node represents what holds us back and what remains
counterproductive for us if we focus too much on it. And with the South Node in Gemini, you will
remain in a counterproductive state if you’re too logical or too scattered. There are wonderful things
about everyone’s South Node. Certain people may feel like it needs to be done away with
altogether. But, that’s not the case, as I’ve been saying repeatedly through this series. The South
Node just needs to be transformed. And with this placement, doing this will allow you to take
advantage of the Gemini South Node qualities of being intelligent, curious, a great listener, and a
conduit for all sorts of interesting information.

However, when unbalanced, these traits just make you someone who is too “in their head” or who
talks without saying much of anything. The South Node is an indicator of the negative karma we’ve
carried from the past; not just our current past but our past life. If you can get behind the past lives
theory, you should realize that the Gemini South Node means that in your most recent past life (or
the second-most recent one) you displayed this compulsive habit of saying a lot without really
meaning much of it. There was this strong pattern of spouting off a lot of empty words, often to be
ingratiating toward others. You were very socially adept, a master at listening, at working the small
talk, and at keeping others interested as well as being interested in others. But, all of this meant
that you essentially would say whatever you needed to say in order to win the social game.

South Node in Gemini also speaks to a past life where schooling played a massive influence. You
could have been an exceptional student or you might have also been a notable teacher of some
kind. Many with this placement were very bright in school, taking to the constant stream of info like
a fish to water, standing out as one of the smartest kids in class. Such a love of learning could have
also compelled you to want to teach, later in life. But, there are also those with the Gemini South
Node who went the other way and had particular issues in school, in spite of being very intelligent.
It might have been a case of being one of those gifted kids who wasn’t being given the right
curriculum, so you acted out in boredom or frustration. Yet, your intellectual giftedness could have
shined outside of the classroom, in whatever activity or interest that you took up, making you stand
out as being very much ahead of other people on a mental level.

So, in some way or another, this pattern set in of being smarter than other people. This manifested
in two different ways. The first is that it made you feel like you always had to be rational and always
had to know the facts. You became so used to absorbing information that you felt like you couldn’t
properly communicate without knowing all the facts first. So, this led to serious over-thinking,
keeping you in an unnecessarily analytical state of mind. You loved asking questions so much that
you never knew how to stop and how to shut off your brain. The second way your intelligence often

37
backfired on you was by making you strive to always be two steps ahead of everyone else. You saw
everything from the mindset of a student and you were determined to get an “A” in whatever “class”
you were in, due to the fact that you were a straight-A kid or you were denied the experience of
being one, even though you knew you had it in you.

So, playing mind games, being manipulative, knowing more than other people, and talking out of
the side of your mouth were all ways to get that fabulous report card. The thing about Gemini is
that it’s dualistic. And with the South Node in Gemini, such duality emerged in a very negative way
in your past life. It made you terribly unpredictable, inconsistent, and possibly even two-faced. You
could’ve become a compulsive liar or an awful gossip, just because of your need to talk, talk, talk. In
a certain way, you also constantly saw yourself as a teacher. So, you were intent on giving your
students their lesson of the day. But, because you felt like every bit of information bouncing around
in your head was useful, you would just tell people anything and everything, without knowing how
to shut up. A part of you meant well. The other part of you? Maybe not so much. And such
trickiness was probably encouraged by some “partner in crime”, possibly a brother or sister.

All of these issues have accumulated into your karmic debt and have been carried over into this
lifetime to be addressed. And guess what? They have also strongly defined your past in this life, as
well. So, even if you are not a believer in past lives, you can re-read everything I just talked about
and apply it to your past in this life. Gemini South Node people have lived their lives with either an
obsessive liking or disliking of school, which has only caused them to stay stuck in their grade-school
self. But, remaining the perpetual student is actually not going to get you anywhere, as it only
leaves you preoccupied with always being correct or intelligent. This also can seriously hinder your
communication skills. In spite of the fact that your mouth and/or mind can run a mile a minute
(another issue that you have to address), you are so smart that you can think entirely too much
about what you say, at times, to the point of speaking falsely or manipulatively. Being quite a con
artist, to some degree or another, is something that does nothing but hold you back.

Therefore, a certain breakthrough period in your life needs to occur. For many people, the North
Node becomes something that really starts taking over around the late 20’s to early 30’s. By this
point, you’ve lived a life that has been disappointing and unfulfilling enough, thanks to those poor
habits of the South Node. The more you focus on the South Node, the less fulfilled you’ll be. And
with the South Node in Gemini, a certain breakthrough happens when you get tired of always having
to be logical and always thinking things through. Maybe you’re exhausted by your over-active mind
and your insistence on having the correct answer all the time. It’s also very common for those with
this placement to get sick of hearing themselves talk, frequently telling themselves to “shut up” or
not even taking themselves that seriously for being such a chatterbox. You may also become tired of
living in a sense of dishonesty and without any consistent kind of ethics or moral code.

All of this is evidence that you are ready to embrace your Sagittarius North Node. For all of us, the
North Node is an ongoing journey. But, it will definitely feel that way if you have the North Node in
Sagittarius. I think it’s a common misconception that Sagittarius is about “learning”. I think that
Gemini is the sign of learning. Sagittarius is the sign of experience, discovery, and opportunity. We
all have to discover our North Node within. And with the North Node in Sagittarius, once you make
this discovery, it will lead you to an endless string of discoveries. In this lifetime, you cannot be so
preoccupied with factual information. Instead, you need to focus on inspiration, faith, conviction,
and opinion. Prioritizing experience before learning is something that leads you to your full potential,
as you experience soul-level growth when you just dive in, when you just act on faith, instead of
needing to feel like all of your little ducks are in a row first.

38
With the South Node in Gemini, your kneejerk reaction is to be calculating. In a sense, you are
always “studying” a situation first, picking up on all sorts of little cues and details and bits of
information, before acting. Yet, the North Node in Sagittarius has unconsciously developed within
you as a response to that. Your soul is tired of needing to observe everything and everyone. To a
certain degree, you need to embrace more of a “tunnel vision” kind of approach. Just putting your
energy into the facts and nothing but the facts bores you now. Deep down, you want to be free to
focus on whatever you want to focus on. Think about it: in grade school, we don’t get to choose
most of our curriculum. We have to excel at whatever subject we’re placed into, whether we like it
or not. But, Sagittarius represents college; the time where we have a “major”, where we can choose
what we want to study and when and why. Metaphorically speaking, you need a major – something
that really feeds you with enthusiasm and direction – and you need to stick to it.

This is often why college is such a challenging time for a lot of people with this placement. You can
see many of them either dropping out of college or vacillating between different fields of study. Your
mind naturally works like this. You’re such an information junkie that just about anything sounds
good to you. But, you must develop the side of you that really believes in that one thing. This will
set you on a steady path that will bring you real fulfillment and satisfaction. It’s for this reason that
many Sagittarius North Node folks find themselves going back to college, whether they dropped out
or got a degree in something that they didn’t care about. The latter experience can really haunt
them and make them feel like their time in college was meaningless. Therefore, they may feel the
need to do it over again. So, it’s by finding that inner truth, that compass that leads you to your
truth, that you will find the right field of study, whether you’re in your 20’s, 30’s, or beyond.

Honesty is so important to your growth in this lifetime. It’s why I call you the candid soul. Being
truthful is what puts you on the right track. Again, that can be quite a generalizing statement that
applies to anyone. Yet, that’s what Sagittarius is about: that very basic sense of right and wrong.
First off, you have to know what’s “right” and “wrong” for you. You might not be entirely aware of it
but you have this deep inner sense that what’s good for the goose is not exactly good for the
gander. But, you’re so adaptable and such a quick study that you can not only lie to others but lie to
yourself, convincing yourself that you enjoy or think something that you don’t or are meant for
something that you’re not. That Gemini South Node makes it all too easy to listen to those various
“voices”, whether they are literal voices or the ones in your head that anticipate that what you think
other people are going to say (something that can make it very hard for you to make decisions).

But, forget all of that! You have to figure out a sense of right and wrong that will guide you through
life. This means not just communicating glibly but developing strong convictions. While personal
planets in Sagittarius can potentially bring self-righteousness, you are going to be very opinionated
in a good way. For you, it’s not standing on a soapbox. Emitting some fire and brimstone is what
allows you to access your higher self. Your greater soul-expression, therefore, is entirely
straightforward, spouting off these beliefs and viewpoints in spite of what others may think. The
way you can find balance, in this sense, is to see your opinion as a message that could feed the
mind of someone else. The teacher-side of your Gemini South Node can be positively utilized, in this
way. If you see the honest exchange of opinions as a way to connect intellectually and stimulate
those around you, you will feel more motivated to share your beliefs with others.

Besides, you don’t know who you could end up positively impacting! Your conversations must come
from a place of true candor and passion. You are very used to just saying “hey, how was your day?”
without entirely meaning it. But, in this life, you have to say what you mean and mean what you
say. In doing so, you will be carrying and expressing a very positive energy that can touch others

39
around you. In the end, most people are disarmed by someone who’s very authentic, who’s real,
who speaks so honestly and straightforwardly. It is a very refreshing quality and you are meant to
be that refreshing person who just tells it like it is, regardless of the response. In this life, you are
allowed to be rather blunt. Not to a mean degree but in a way that gives you a very pure intention:
one of just being candid and telling the truth, hopefully to liberate, enlighten, or inspire someone.

As you evolve in this way, you will figure out what is meaningful to talk about and what isn’t. You
can easily be that classic person who just yammers on to fill the silence or who gossips because
there’s nothing else to say (which ends up being malicious, intentionally or not). But, the Sagittarius
North Node is challenging you to figure out more important things to talk about. You’ll be using your
natural intelligence to do this, as your clear intellect will show you what people are actually
interested in. Despite your natural curiosity and people skills, you may sometimes fail to notice that
the line of communication is suffering due to the superficial, catty, or scattered nature of your
conversation. Yet, focusing on the Sagittarius North Node allows you to “keep it real” in the sense of
creating a more authentic connection that can lead to conversations that are far more interesting
than you would’ve thought, such as philosophical discussions that bring up the meaning of life.

You’re meant to go down a philosophical path. Skepticism shows that you’re off-track, as
faithfulness is the key to unlocking your higher self. Many Gemini South Node people grow up
without any religious affiliations. If they do, they tend to not take it seriously, while pretending to for
the sake of their parents. But, in order to grow, you have to find your religion. This doesn’t mean
literal religion necessarily, even though many with this placement do actually find themselves being
deeply reborn by taking on some religion in adulthood. It just means some sort of faith or
philosophy that allows you to develop a strong moral fiber. Again, it goes back to that sense of right
and wrong. Sagittarius North Node people need a solid, consistent code to live by. There is a very
honorable part of yourself that has developed in response to your cunning, tricky, or insincere
behavior, in the past. This inner Honor Code is what allows you to experience spiritual development.

There is no more room for really manipulative behavior in your life. It will just bring you an empty
sort of feeling. Yet, the shrewd part of yourself can be used in order for you to navigate your grand
journey in life. In the end, you’re nobody’s fool. You are smart enough to smell someone else’s BS
because, let’s face it, you can dish out quite a bit of BS of your own. But, the Sagittarius North Node
wants you to rise above that, simply using your sharp people skills to smell someone’s else falseness
or lies. And that’s someone you don’t want accompanying you on your journey! There is also a
funny pattern, thanks to the South Node in Gemini, of the relationship with one’s sibling(s)
experiencing a significant shift on account of this personal growth. If you’re an only child, it’s often a
cousin who felt like a sibling and was your total partner-in-crime growing up, to the point of being
your evil twin. Of course, no one is saying to ditch your brother or sister! But, you can still act like
you’re 10 years old when you get together, still plotting mischievous schemes and getting into
trouble. So, that aspect of the relationship has to change, as well as the feeling of them being joined
at the hip with you. You’re no one’s Siamese twin! You are free to go off on your own adventures.

And being adventurous is the ultimate purpose of the North Node in Sagittarius. It means venturing
out beyond your typical spots and hang-outs. You can stick to your little neighborhood to your own
detriment. You feel more comfortable with everyone knowing your name. But, you need to go off
and explore other places, whether that’s other hang-outs in your city, another city, or even another
country. In any case, expanding your options is how you grow in this life. Embrace your personal
freedom to go off on another path. Whatever you want to do, just go out and do it. Act on faith!

NORTH NODE IN CAPRICORN: THE RESPONSIBLE SOUL
Having the North Node in Capricorn in your chart means that you are supposed to evolve
throughout life by getting your act together. This is a lifetime that needs to be about true
responsibility for you, which is why I call you the responsible soul. Finding deep fulfillment within is
going to come from developing self-sufficiency and self-discipline. When you can figure out the right
guidelines and structures to live your life by, you will be on the right track. Like with the other
Earthy North Nodes (Virgo and Taurus), your spiritual growth is actually going to be a very practical
thing. It’s going to come from embracing the positives of ambition and achievement. Your highest
soul-expression motivates you to set respectable goals and work hard to make them a reality.

Yet, with the South Node in Cancer, you have got to deal with your inner craziness before you can
feel effective enough to achieve these goals. Our South Node is what holds us back from living out
and fulfilling our North Node. So, it’s all about a balance here. The wonderful thing about having a
Cancer South Node is how naturally sensitive, intuitive, and responsive you are. You possess a really
ingrained care for other people, even if you might not always want to show it. The downside of this
placement is that it can make you too defensive or too insecure for your own good. When
unbalanced, your nature can become really irrational and needy, causing you to emotionally drain
other people as well as yourself. You have accumulated a lot of karmic debt in terms of letting your
feelings overwhelm you and also in regards to being too enmeshed with your loved ones, to the
point where you have no satisfying life of your own outside of them.

These are issues that have defined your past life. The South Node can either be your most recent
past life or a very recent one. In this former existence, you were deeply invested in your personal
life. There was a big-time emphasis on family in this life, which you took to seamlessly because it
brought out your nurturing, protective, domestic sensibilities. South Node in Cancer individuals put
their families before everything in this last life. At the same time, this was a major part of the
problem. Making your loved ones your top priority means that you didn’t find much purpose
elsewhere. I feel like a lot of Cancer South Node people were stay-at-home mothers/wives or
fathers/husbands in their former lifetime. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. But, I think the
problem was that you felt enslaved in that role of the homemaker. You didn’t develop any strong
ambitions of your own, instead leaving it to your spouse to bring home the bacon.

I can also see this being a major dynamic in your family of origin. You could’ve been the one who
always needed to be taken care of and protected, well into adulthood. This eventually resulted in
emotional immaturity, stunting you and preventing you from regulating your emotions and needs
properly. A terrible moodiness developed in this life, especially if your family just “let you be” when
you were feeling crabby or nutty because they were so used to your irrational ways. You could
spend a ton of time just brooding over your feelings and how you’ve been hurt or wounded. A
virtual addiction to those turbulent emotions developed and you turned into that person who just
had to be constantly upset about something, instead of actually, you know, doing something about
the situation. This only reinforced the notion that you needed to be taken care of.

However, you might have also spent a lot of time taking care of other people, to a degree where
your emotions and needs were actually neglected, only magnifying your sense of vulnerability and
insecurity. With Cancer South Node people, their past life self fell into either category: always being
protected or always protecting other people. It stemmed from deeply ingrained habits. Whatever
role you played in your family, you played it to the hilt. If you were “the baby” of the family, you
remained the baby all your life. If you were “the oldest”, you always acted like the oldest. Also, if

41
you were the funny child, the screw-up child, the beautiful child, the brainy child, etc., you remained
that child until the day you died. Being unable to break free of that familial role is something that
really hindered your adult relationships, as well as your bond with your children. I think it would be
very rare to see a Cancer South Node who wasn’t a parent in their last life. And although you were
so sensitive and caring, you could’ve really smothered your children, especially since you project the
same expectations on to them that your parents did to you.

Repeating the cycle in a particularly unhealthy way is a major part of your spiritual baggage that
you’ve carried over into this life. Those issues were not resolved in your former life. So, now, they
are your unsettled business. Because of the unconscious element of the Water signs, I think that
people with their South Node in Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) feel their past-life burdens much
more heavily and profoundly than most people. Because of that, you probably believe in past lives,
especially since Cancer is so connected to the past. Even if you don’t, these are still issues that have
strongly affected your past in this life. All of what I just said is how you’ve lived out your past in this
current lifetime, in one way or another. Your nature has remained way too crystallized in your
childhood self and who you’ve always been in your family. This has prevented you from truly
understanding who you could be in the greater world. You can also get far too wrapped up in your
emotional reactions and needs, either experiencing terrible dependency and instability or a real
sense of emptiness and neglect because of these pressing feelings.

We all have to have a breakthrough period in life where we realize that our South Node just isn’t
working for us anymore, which prepares us to embrace our North Node. As long as we remain over-
focused on the South Node, it won’t get us anywhere. So, as long as you remain moody, co-
dependent, reactive, and a creature of conditioning, you are going to continue to feel stagnant. Yet,
I feel like it takes a lot to push Cancer South Node people out of their comfort zone, much like with
Taurus South Node folks. In order to begin moving toward your Capricorn North Node, you have to
“wake up” a bit harder than the next person, realizing that these habits and reactions of yours are
just doing you no good. It’s my opinion that people don’t start really fulfilling their North Node until
their late 20’s or early 30’s, at least, as it is a side of yourself that emerges with maturity. But, with
this placement, which makes real maturity feel like a struggle, you might remain in a state of
arrested development with your North Node. That comfort zone feels so warm and cozy, in spite of
the fact that it doesn’t really fulfill you. It also feels like it’s essential to your very survival.

So, rising above and transforming your South Node in Cancer feels a lot like leaving home, which is
really difficult for you. Literally leaving home is often very scary for you. Many with this placement
do live at home longer than most. Even if you move out of your parents’ place, it’s a major deal to
actually leave your hometown. Being willing to step away from what’s familiar and create a new
structure is the key to unlocking your Capricorn North Node. Then, you will be able to access and
develop your knack for making the rules and following them with diligence. Instead of being coddled
by someone else or expending too much of your energy into being a caregiver for others, you need
to focus on being a boss. This means not only calling the shots and assuming control but doing so in
a way that allows you to not treat the people around you like babies. You need to make your
interactions with others less about coddling and more about directing, sometimes even
commanding. You cannot be afraid to get tough with others when you need to because, in the end,
you’ll be doing it for their own good.

Yet, this is where your nurturing touch is required. North Node in Capricorn people have the good
fortune of being able to be authoritative and firm without coming off as hardened or cold, which can
be the possible negative outcome of just having the Sun or the Moon in Capricorn. You have to

42
transform your South Node, and not leave it behind, by using your sensitivity to understand just
what the rules and regulations need to be. In this sense, your intuition can be put to efficient use.
You can then know just how to engage with other people in a manner that will keep things
operating effectively and that will be for everyone’s benefit.

Your higher self knows the power of a bit of needed tough love, making you realize when to stand
your ground with people, instead of being so adrift in the current of their emotions. A show of tears
or a sob story from someone else can easily melt those with this placement, making them forget
their original aim and suddenly “go soft.” Now, I’m not saying you should stop caring about people’s
feelings. But, what you should care most about is your integrity and your goals because these things
will end up bringing you true satisfaction. So, don’t be so gentle or so understanding that you forget
the entire objective of what you’re doing. If it so happens that it hurts someone’s feelings a bit,
don’t let that affect you too much. Just know that you are a truly caring, giving person and that
you’re just doing what needs to be done. Also, let the other person know that. Even if they do walk
away feeling resentful or hurt, just know that they will move on. Feelings come and go. The
emotional intensity of your Cancer South Node makes you forget that, sometimes. So, the thought
of possibly hurting someone is made out to be worse than it really needs to be.

Your soul yearns to be in a position of authority, to be seen as a respectable role model and
example for other people. And any good authority figure knows that integrity, strength, and a solid
vision are required in order to get the job done. With the North Node in Capricorn, you always have
to see yourself as “on the job”, whether you’re literally working or not. It doesn’t matter what you’re
doing. You must see it through from beginning to end with a sort of professional spirit. In doing so,
you will be able to become a boss wherever you go, winning people’s respect through the
seriousness of your efforts. The South Node in Cancer makes you inherently relaxed and fluid; a go-
with-the-flow type. So, luckily, you won’t take anything too seriously. But, you’ll be able to work off
of that natural feeling of internal comfort in order to create external structures that not only lead to
your success but to the success of other people around you.

Pursuing success is an important part of your spiritual development. Capricorn North Node people
can be haunted by this sense of “not being ready” for their goals. You have all of these ambitions
inside of you. In the past, you’ve been very passive and very willing to just allow things to happen.
But, a part of you has unconsciously developed, in reaction to this, by coming up with grand
schemes for the future. It’s just much easier for you to be this very instinctual creature of the
moment. Unfortunately for you, listening to your gut rarely pays off, at least not when that’s the
only inner voice you’re listening to. Don’t totally ignore what your instincts are telling you. But, it
can’t be your guiding force. You need to be following a strong game plan when you’re moving
forward in any situation. Learning how to be reasonably calculating is beneficial for you. Otherwise,
you’re just left with a giant mess on your hands. No business can function without a sense of
organization and strategy. The North Node in Capricorn is challenging you to handle your business,
in all definitions of the word.

You will be on the right track when you can develop recognition for your skills, accomplishments,
and contributions, which will translate most strongly into your professional life and social status. It’s
going to require a lot of conscious effort, though. More than most people, Capricorn North Node
individuals are very guilty of sabotaging themselves just before they reach success. In many ways,
your Cancer South Node can keep you like a child, forever in a state of dreaming about who you
want to be when you grow up. Then, when you get to that stage of becoming that person, it’s too
much to handle. You don’t want to grow up now! Yet, you can still be saying that into your 30’s and

43
40’s. It’s important for you to understand that realizing your life goals and ambitions is actually
going to sustain you emotionally. Those with this placement are often emotional wrecks unless their
career is in a good place. If all those feelings have nowhere to go, they can consume you and drive
you absolutely mad. So, if you approach your ambitions through the nurturing instincts of your
South Node in Cancer, you will feel a powerful motivation to achieve because you will understand
how good it is for you and how much that sense of success is a comfort food for your soul.

Through the Capricorn North Node, a pursuit of success becomes something that resonates on that
deep soul level, instead of being an empty display of ruthlessness or opportunism. You feel
enlightened when you realize that you have something important to contribute to your community
and society as a whole. A strong sense of responsibility will then develop. Again, it’s not just in
terms of your profession. You will feel fulfilled through being responsible enough to have integrity,
to be committed, and to be someone worth looking up to. The more you evolve as a person, the
more other people will realize how important your contributions are. A certain level of fame can
even stem from this. In this extent, the feeling of intimacy and support that your Cancer South Node
fosters will pay off. You understand the human soul on a deep level and, therefore, you are capable
of interacting with the world at large in a manner that makes everyone feel touched by you. But, at
the same time, you can provide this support within certain professional or social parameters.

In the past, too much of your energy has been expended on your personal life and your loved ones.
Now, your public life has to be your top priority. This doesn’t mean that you cannot have a family or
you should forget about your family. It just means that you cannot be held back by your family
anymore, on any level. Do not let them dictate or influence your decisions in life, which is a
particularly hard habit for those with a Capricorn North Node to break. You are in charge of your life
now. Also, do not get too sucked into the family dynamics, as this makes you regress back to the
days of being 12 years old. You don’t have to be what they want you or need you to be. You are
unleashing the vision within to be whoever you want to be. So, as much as you may love them, a
certain distance from them is probably required. Capricorn North Node people often find it very life-
changing to move far away from their families and just stay in touch and only visit on special
occasions. This will grant you the freedom to live your own life the way you choose it.

Yet, this will also require you to take true responsibility for your actions. A part of you will always be
highly emotional and rather crazy. There’s nothing you can do about that. But, you can do
something with those feelings. This not only means sublimating that anger, sadness, fear, or pain
into your work, finding great success even when your private life is a total mess. It also means
seeing it as your duty to regulate those emotions, instead of letting them just run wild. You have to
diligently do whatever you can to manage your inner child. Listening to this side of yourself will also
help you delve into your issues. A ton of unresolved emotions from childhood is the signature of the
Cancer South Node.

But, of course, you’re not a kid anymore and you are also not your parent(s). Yet, few people are
more horrified than you to wake up, as adults, and realize that they are living exactly in the same
kind of household that they grew up in. Use the dedication and perseverance of your Capricorn
North Node to become much more than your past, working through all of the insecurities, fears,
defenses, and inner messages needed to get there. This also means that you cannot blame your
parents or anyone else from your past for your issues. You’ve got to discipline yourself to overcome
them and manifest the successful adult life that you want to live. You can end up experiencing great
healing through having children of your own, if you use your bond with them as a guide to figure
out if you’re on the right track or just repeating handed-down patterns.

NORTH NODE IN AQUARIUS: THE FREE-SPIRITED SOUL
Since Aquarius is such an advanced, progressive energy and the North Node is about learning how
to progress and grow, the North Node in Aquarius is an excellent placement. Personal growth can
occur in exceptional and startling or shocking ways. It’s all about becoming very attuned to
something bigger than yourself. Aquarius is future-oriented and having the North Node in this sign
means that you can truly see a vision of yourself being a better, bigger person. In order to reach
this higher self, you are overcoming the trap of your ego.

When a person has an Aquarius North Node, they also have a Leo South Node. So, you are coming
from a past of wanting recognition for being special and amazing. In a past lives’ context, you were
a very important person in your most recent past life. You fed off of the admiration, the applause,
and the attention of other people. Leo South Node individuals were most likely famous in their past
life, as politicians, performers, or public figures. You might have even been lucky enough to have
been a member of royalty. But, even if you weren’t a monarch, you were treated like a glorious king
or queen. You ruled in this past life yet the South Node shows issues that occurred in the past life
because of this “monarchy.”

Therefore, you ruled with an iron fist or you let the head that held the crown become massive. A
person with their South Node in Leo had an out-of-control ego in their past life. It led to arrogant,
self-absorbed, domineering, and/or snotty behavior. But, the South Node is what we never let go of
in that past life. So, you left that life with a giant ego and came into this one with a giant you’re
your karmic debt, therefore, revolves around taming your self-obsession, which is going to get in the
way of a true connection with others. Leo South Node people have huge hearts, which makes you
gravitate toward romance and passion. Yet, the passion easily becomes a drama. Did I mention that
being highly dramatic is also a problem for this South Node? Because it is. In your past life, there
was never a dull moment. Those with this placement were fantastic actors, either by profession or
just by personality, and all the world was your stage. But, did you ever learn to get off stage and
turn off the drama? Not really.

Now, you might not believe in past lives. Yet, you can still look back and see how your Leo South
Node dominated your past in this life with its bad habits. Your worst habits come from acting as if
you are the center of everything. You can behave as if you are the protagonist of some dramatic
movie that will never end. This not only makes you self-absorbed but it’s going to make you treat
everyone else as if they need to play their part. You can all too easily give people roles to play
because you are constantly playing the role you feel you need to in order to gain that applause or
be special. So, South Node in Leo makes one easily disappointed, annoyed, or even outraged when
others aren’t giving a good performance like they are. Having this placement can compel you to
demand that people act like a lover or a best friend or a colleague is “supposed” to act, instead of
just giving people the freedom to be individuals.

What happens because of that? Well, you never really get the fulfillment of acting out this drama
that we seek. Being the center of attention and trying to get everything and everyone to bend to
your will is just going to make you feel empty. The Universe is set up to deny us our South Node, if
you go to extremes with it. Now, I firmly believe that people should not “leave behind” their South
Node. There are excellent things about the South Node. But, to access those more positive traits,
you have to be balanced out by your North Node.

45
That’s where we get to the Aquarius North Node. While the South Node is the more comfortable,
familiar soul-expression for you, the North Node is the higher, more enlightened soul-expression.
And it’s not exactly that you’re “learning” to be your North Node. It’s just that you are developing
more conscious awareness of the North Node because it’s already in you. It develops through a
constant dissatisfaction with your South Node. That’s the funny thing about everyone’s South Node.
We cling to it even when it doesn’t make us happy. The South Node is like that job that gives you
basic security but isn’t fulfilling. The North Node is like the job that you really want to do but might
have pushed it to the back of your mind because it’ll take you out of your comfort zone.

Aquarius North Node people have to be very humbled by life in order to access this part of
themselves. After a lifetime of pursuing the superstar role, of trying to be widely adored, of
attempting to find that life-defining passion with someone else, you will still come up short
somehow. Maybe you don’t find that fame or recognition you searched for. Maybe you are
continually being ostracized or judged socially. Maybe you end up single for forever or bouncing
from one empty love affair to the next. These situations will be painful but they will break down
your ego and allow you to develop the ability to care less and less about being fabulous and adored.
The more Aquarius North Node is denied the amazing lifestyle that they crave so much, the more
they will be able to get in touch with their free-spirited nature and let go of what people think.

So, the higher self of someone with their North Node in Aquarius is capable of not being in it for
themselves. When that glorious fame or magical love doesn’t come to you, the art of healthy
detachment is mastered. When people with this placement are in this mode of thinking, they can
truly blow wherever the wind takes them. You have a habit of wanting what you want and when you
want it, which is what can make you so demanding or spoiled. But, getting in touch with your inner
detachment allows us to release what we want. And when you do, greater things end up coming
back to you. Therefore, your truest soul-expression allows you to see that life is random and
unpredictable. It cannot be scripted or controlled. A high tolerance for chaos must be cultivated.

Aquarius North Node people also rise above their self-obsession when they stop worrying about their
“celebrity.” At the same time, you will always be quite self-aware. That’s the foundation that the Leo
South Node instills. But, this sense of self can just be expressed as an amazing self-awareness,
knowing exactly who we are. Then, true self-confidence is experienced. When you’re unbalanced
with the Leo South Node, you are just faking the confidence, when in reality you’re very obsessed
with others’ approval. But, when you evolve and consciously express your Aquarius North Node,
other people’s approval becomes much less important. You have the acceptance and love that really
matters: the self-love of your South Node in Leo. So, stop trying hard and learn to just coolly rest in
that inner confidence, without having to put on such a show. You don’t get anywhere when you try
so hard, anyway, because people have a way of sensing it and seeing it as an obsessive
performance, which it is.

Therefore, developing that true self-confidence makes you want to make other people the
superstars. Your fame stops being important to you. Instead, you will want to shine a spotlight on
what makes other people special. In a less evolved mode, you constantly hit a wall when you try to
make your specialness so visible and known. But, through that process, you unconsciously develop
the ability to notice what’s wonderful about the people around you and why they’re getting the
recognition that you’re not. As a result, the conscious Aquarius North Node is there to applaud
others, to show each and everyone that they are an individual worth recognition in their own right.
The ego is being transcended, in this stage. You already know you’re special and important. Now,

46
you’re the egalitarian, wanting others to know that they have something special and important to
offer, as well.

This focus on other people is very important for the Aquarius North Node’s spiritual development. It
also helps to focus on higher ideals and causes. Whenever you’re in something just for our own
fulfillment, it’s not going to get anywhere. So, with this North Node, your greatest potential comes
from being able to contribute something important to society and this world. You must stretch
yourself beyond concerns of the self and become focused on concerns of the collective. Are you
opening people’s minds? Are you introducing and developing interesting concepts and meaningful
projects? Are you helping to change the world around you? This is where your spiritual growth lies.
You can no longer be solely concerned with how something in the world affects only you. It’s not
just your world anymore. It’s everyone’s world and you just live in it.

North Node in Aquarius people find their true success in being innovative, championing causes,
promoting projects, and/or working outside of the mainstream. When you go against the grain, you
express your true soul nature. Aquarius North Node individuals are rebels and nonconformists at a
soul level. So, you have to allow yourself to go crazy or get weird, without worrying about the
response from your “audience.” Your higher self is independent-minded and sort of eccentric, not
caring too much what people think. After all, this free-thinking gives you the space to do the
innovation and experimentation that you need to do. When you take true charge of yourself via your
Leo South Node, without seeking others’ approval, no one will really be able to influence you. And
as a result of owning yourself so strongly, you can give other people the freedom to totally be
whoever they want to be, within rational limits, and not judge them for it.

So, your greatest soul-expression allows people to feel very accepted and befriended. You can make
a wide range of social connections, thanks to your powerful social skills. Aquarius is very friendly
and approachable. Yet, the legendary aloofness of this sign is balanced out by the giant heart and
deep-seated warmth of your Leo South Node. So, you have enormous charisma at your disposal, as
you can blend cool casualness with a lively exuberance and generosity. The fact that you’re such a
natural performer also helps you socially and creatively. You are very charming and magnetic, with a
lot of presence. Therefore, you’re capable of effortlessly reeling your audience in, no matter how
crazy or unusual your presentation is. You know how to command a crowd and have people eating
out of your palm. But, at this stage, you’ll be doing it for something beyond the self.

With the North Node in Aquarius, you are meant to understand very advanced topics and concepts.
You’re meant to strengthen your intellect and your brilliance. Your soul is tired of the unfulfilling
focus on your love life, your clothes, your favorite celebrities, your best attributes, etc. You have to
move beyond superficial or ego-driven preoccupations. There is a real genius inside of the soul of
every Aquarius North Node. You must develop this potential, charging up your brainpower with
exciting, fascinating, and out-there subjects. People with this North Node exhibit a very powerful
interest in anything from astrology to science to technology to the study of human nature. They
eventually become avid astrologers, scientists, tech-specialists, or observers of the human condition
because of this, blending sharp logic with strange intuition in that Aquarian way.

The more you focus on these things beyond the self, the less of a yearning for drama you will have.
Again, there is an objectivity that is required when you have the North Node in Aquarius. It’s not to
say that you will no longer be dramatic. There will always be a drama queen or drama king inside of
those with this placement because of the South Node in Leo. But, you need to be able to objectively

47
use this dramatic flair. How can you channel this passionate, theatrical energy in ways that will still
keep you clear-headed and objective? The answer is through some sort of creative outlet.

Aquarius North Node people are particularly creative, in some way or another. It just comes
naturally to you. So, you have to apply that drama to something else. It has no room in your life.
This is what makes us such great performers, in more ways than one. Maybe the outlet for your
drama comes from acting, writing, or singing. Maybe it’s through being able to present things to
people in entertaining, colorful ways. And when you need to entertain, you absolutely entertain. But,
balance with these Nodes comes from being able to use your dramatic side in an impersonal way,
snapping into being highly emotional or the center of attention, when needed creatively, and then
snapping right back out of it.

The people in your personal life will be thankful, as it really allows you to chill out. Yet, those with
an Aquarius North Node are amazingly chill individuals. There is a certain “craziness” to this energy.
But, it’s more of a quirky-crazy than an exhausting-crazy. When you get rid of unnecessary drama,
you realize how much better you feel when you keep a cooler head. This also allows you to stop
being such love-struck schoolboys and schoolgirls all the time. Thanks to that impassioned Leo
South Node, when you crush or fall in love, you crush or fall in love hard, to a point where it’s rather
embarrassing. Once those feelings of passion kick in, you start having delusions of grandeur about
your love life or your romantic interest. But, when you stop making your life a drama, you remain
more objective. You don’t get so caught up in the whirlwind of romance. You will still be loving and
sincere and warm. But, that side gets balanced by a cool confidence that not only takes the pressure
off of your lover but makes you more attractive to them. When you want the other person too
insistently, it can push them away.

As much as you want to be in love and be passionately connected, you have to detach somewhat.
Having the North Node in Aquarius means that you cannot base your fulfillment on who you fall in
love with. This makes you unbalanced and will keep them from ever really satisfying you. Instead,
you have to find your satisfaction through projects, ideals, and causes that keep you engaged with
the greater world. When you do, your love life will actually become more satisfying. People with an
Aquarius North Node have the soul of a mad scientist, always tinkering away at one experiment or
another. And you must remember that you cannot and should not control the results. It’s very easy
to try to have your way all the time, with this placement. But, you should be willing to just let things
happen. Just see where things go, without some expectation of what should happen. When you
creatively and brilliantly live in the chaos, your free spirit within will flourish.

48
NORTH NODE IN PISCES: THE IMAGINATIVE SOUL
Those with a Pisces North Node are reaching for a higher self that is a sum of all of the selves. This
is a really beautiful placement for the North Node, as Pisces is about transcendence while the North
Node is about rising above previous limitations to become a more evolved person. In my opinion,
the North Node is most “at home” in the transpersonal signs (Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces)
because of the bigger, broader mission that these energies represent. With the North Node in
Pisces, you are on a spiritual mission to simply find your spirituality. There is something very faithful,
ethereal, and imaginative, deep down within your soul, that you must express and embrace.

In order to do this, you have to learn how to deal with the negative habits that are holding you
back. You have the South Node in Virgo, when this is your North Node sign, and that represents a
comfort zone that keeps all of your ducks in a little row. On one hand, you do possess a natural gift
for self-discipline, humble and productive service, and intelligently assessing what’s happening
around you. But, these innate talents very easily get skewed when you’re operating from an
unbalanced place. Then, you will be the eternal nag or exhausted workaholic, feeling like nothing
and no one is ever good enough, including yourself. Virgo South Node people trip themselves up by
being mercilessly hard on themselves. Unfortunately, this attitude will eventually be directed toward
others. Even if you don’t voice your criticisms, they might still feel the weight of your judging.

Where does this judgmental nature come from? Since the South Node shows what we’ve brought
into this life from our previous life, those with the South Node in Virgo were tireless servants in their
former life. This existence revolved around your occupation, to one degree or another. You could’ve
just been a work-obsessed individual who never knew how to truly get off the clock. Even when you
left the job, you brought your work back home with you. But, this placement is also indicative of an
occupation that was particularly high-stress or high-pressure. In their most recent past life, Virgo
South Node people could have been doctors, nurses, surgeons, or any other profession where
attention to detail was imperative for success. It’s also very likely that you were an assistant to a
very important person, whose demanding, busy nature always kept you on your toes, anticipating
the next task that had to be done impeccably or else you’d get chewed out or even fired.

Unfortunately, this South Node is often times a signal of someone whose past life involved this kind
of mistreatment. You were the thankless individual that kept everything running well and with little
appreciation. So, you developed very little appreciation, in return, instead keeping a critical eye on
all the things that needed to be done better. This feeling of hard work manifested in your family or
private life, as well. You felt like the hired help to your loved ones, even though you regularly put
yourself in the position of always helping them and serving them. Such an attitude led to a
compulsive feeling of having to organize and schedule everything. Whether it was on the job or at
home, you had to make sure you stayed on schedule, to a degree that prevented real relaxation or
spontaneity. Instead, you were enslaved to your routines, unsure of what to do without them.

All of these issues were never resolved or conquered in that last life. Now, they’re unfinished
business, the spiritual baggage that you’ve carried over into this lifetime. This karmic debt also
comes from your past in this current life. So, even if you are a Virgo South Node and don’t exactly
buy into past lives (and this placement is an inherent skeptic), these are still problems that have
dominated your past in this life. It’s why you’ve been so hard on yourself and others, why you’ve
been in relationships or in jobs where you bent over backwards with little to no appreciation, and
why you find it such a challenge to just go along with the flow without knowing the next thing that’s
supposed to happen. It produces a feeling of anxiety, stress, or tension that virtually becomes an

49
addiction. With your South Node in Virgo, you’re the type of person who claims to do their “best
work” when they’re feeling neurotic, pressured or worried that something will go wrong.

Yet, all of this will leave you with a feeling of being unfulfilled and dissatisfied. Your soul is tired of
the endless grind that keeps you relentlessly predictable, a slave to routine, or focused on the trees,
instead of the forest. We can continue to pursue our South Node, even though it doesn’t really bring
us joy, until we get tired of hitting that wall, again and again. Something has to occur for the
breakthrough moment when you’re really ready to develop your Pisces North Node. Maybe you get
stuck in a mediocre job that is secure and practical but keeps slowly gnawing away at you and
making you unhappy, especially due to the stress. Maybe your daily routine is so dull and deadening
that you just can’t take it anymore. You also can find relationships being ripped apart by being the
giver or the receiver (or both) of devastating criticisms and judgments.

Any of these things lead to the spiritual awakening that you need to cultivate your North Node in
Pisces. And we all have a true spiritual awakening when we decide to focus much more on our North
Node. But, for you, this feeling is intensified. Inside of every Pisces North Node, there is a yearning
to let go, to release your worries and tensions, to just be swept away by something greater. In
many ways, you fulfill your greatest potential when you learn how to lose yourself. I’m not talking
losing yourself entirely. The wonderful thing about the North Node is that it’s the expression of
almost everything positive about the sign it’s in. Instead of being a poor, pitiful, overwhelmed lost
soul like the stereotypical Pisces can be, those with a Pisces North Node are learning how to lose
themselves in ways that are full of purpose and meaning.

This is why you have such an imaginative soul. Being an actual artist is not going to be the path for
every single North Node in Pisces person. But, it’s the path for many of them and something that
pulls them out of that comfort zone of having to be so practical and so analytical. When you lose
yourself in art, either in the creation or the appreciation of it, you have to just release preconceived
notions and being willing to flow wherever the waves take you. There is this yearning inside of your
soul to be an artist, of some kind, whether you’re literally creating art or you’re just making an art of
your everyday life. But, this art will have no true life force or energy behind it if you remain stuck in
the details. If you are letting your Virgo South Node take over by judging what you do too much,
then your imagination will wither. If you find the inspiration within to just release those rigid ideas of
right and wrong, the latent artist inside of you will beautifully rise to the surface.

Instead of being obsessed with correctness, you have to be willing to say, “I don’t know.” Your
worst habits revolve around needing to have all the answers. But, of course, it’s impossible to have
all the answers, which is what makes you so anxious or so self-conscious. You can worry far too
much about not being right, eventually blocking the Flow that you are meant to access in this
lifetime. Pisces North Node people are consciously realizing that life is far more ambiguous and
unsolvable than they previously thought. Your compulsive problem-solving of the past, via the South
Node in Virgo, made you feel like everything had to have some sort of rational source or conclusion.
Yet, unconsciously, all of that analysis made you develop a part of your soul that just wished to ride
the currents of what was happening, without everyone or everything having to be specifically
defined.

So, your spiritual growth comes from being able to stop over-thinking things, as well as over-
working yourself. Time becomes your obsession, when you’re unbalanced, because you remain
preoccupied with all the things you need to check off your to-do list. I’ve found that the Virgo South
Node can make people go to either extreme: total procrastination or total pre-emptive strikes. You

50
might put off and put off what you have to do, out of fear of not being able to do it right or of
falling short of your high expectations, to a degree where you end up with even more stress and it
repeats. But, on the flip side, you may be so compulsive about getting everything done that you end
up doing things that aren’t even necessary. Cleaning your spotless bathroom because you already
finished organizing your neat closet, which you did before paying your phone bill early and double-
checking the time of your dentist appointment, just to be safe, may be the story of your life.

Yet, these day-to-day worries have to be dissolved and released via your Pisces North Node. As I
always say, I’m not saying you should leave behind your South Node, contrary to what is sometimes
said. The South Node does not need to be abandoned. It needs to be transformed. There is a time
to fret over those practical details, as they do need to be done, and there is a time to elevate
yourself to a higher plane. Nailing this balance is what is going to allow you to evolve. If that all
sounds quite vague, that’s actually the point. If this is your placement and you’re sitting there,
wondering how to even do that, you’re still off track. The answer is not in the “why” or the “how.”
It’s in just letting it happen. Your North Node in Pisces gives you a latent ability to enter meditative,
transcendent states, where your imagination, intuition, and inner life fully come alive. But, how does
this happen? Not in a straight line and not through trying to do it right. You just have to allow the
moment to sink in. Then, you’ll get there. Pisces, after all, is one of the most mysterious of signs.

It’s also one of the most compassionate. There is great compassion and empathy lying within you.
It’s just that your right-or-wrong, black-or-white judgments have been blocking these gifts for so
long. You sincerely want to help people but your idea of helping them too often becomes a way of
“fixing” them or “correcting” them. Pisces North Node people have to learn that people are not like
computers or objects. They cannot be fixed or repaired; at least, not by another person. It’s up
to them to change. But, your compulsion of turning people into projects all too often leads you into
relationships where you’re obsessively trying to change someone. However, that’s not up to you.

Understanding that, sometimes, you just have to let the Higher Power solve things is a very
powerful concept for you. That’s why it’s necessary for you to believe in one. You’re off-path if you
can’t embrace some sort of spiritual concept. This will show you that you do not have to solve
everything. Sometimes, you must simply release the problem and let the Creator solve it. Let go and
let God (whatever your version of God might be). Therefore, in relationships with others, you can
simply accept where they are, on their path of development, and figure out a way to deal with
them. This is the balanced expression of your Virgo South Node: not trying to correct everyone but
simply correcting the way in which you deal with people. Not judging them or picking them apart.
Just making a practical decision on how the relationship with them should go.

It’s important for you to use your innate powers of discernment, in this way. You must learn the
difference between a flaw that is harmless, in the end, and a flaw that is destructive. If someone is
harmlessly flawed, and you’re simply nitpicking, then you can just remain present, with an
unconditional love for them. If someone is destructively flawed, in a manner that ruins the
relationship, the practical decision you make could be to get yourself some space and distance from
them or just end the relationship, while still sending them love. That attitude must turn toward
yourself, as well. The good thing about you is that you’re so likely to improve because you have
such a clear vision of your flaws. More than most people, you know exactly what you need to work
on. But, are you being too hard on yourself? Are these flaws harmless, in the end, or truly hurting
others and you? Using your analytical powers to tell the difference will be healing for you.

51
Healing happens for you on a really powerful level. You have a high sensitivity to energy, much
more than you realize. That’s why feeding on stress and anxiety is so horrible for you. It’s not
exactly good for anyone but you have a much more fragile system than most. The expression of
your higher self brings you to a level of peace and tranquility. The sharp observational skills of your
Virgo South Node will allow you to understand when you’re in this “zone.” Stay constantly aware of
when your energy is feeling off. You might be absorbing something harmful and toxic, from
something or someone, and will need to get yourself some space. When you work at this, you’re
extremely skilled at it. While a Pisces Sun or Moon can have difficulty understanding when and how
to keep their psychic boundaries strong, you can develop a strong self-discipline, in this sense.

Thanks to the foundational work ethic of your Virgo South Node, you know how to really discipline
yourself toward spiritual awareness and growth. Therefore, Pisces North Node folks can become
some of the most enlightened people around. You will tirelessly teach yourself the importance of
relaxation, compassion, and surrender. As long as you’re not too hard on yourself when you slip up
regarding these virtues (because this, too, may become a source of unnecessary self-criticism, if you
let it), you’ll be good. Your long-running experience with practical timing allows you to understand
the timing of the Universe. With your North Node in Pisces, you evolve by being less and less bound
by the physical clock. Instead, you can tap into the higher rhythms that keep everything in the
Universe running smoothly. You develop your exceptional intuition, in this sense, understanding the
delicacy that’s required to retreat, recharge, release, and re-emerge throughout life.

The less you worry about the predictable, daily rhythms, the more you will strengthen your
imagination. It cannot flourish if you are too bound to routine. That’s why letting go of your regular
grind can feel quite terrifying, in a way. You are flinging yourself far into the unknown! But, doing so
lets your imaginative nature flourish. You’re being allowed by the Universe to enter into another
time and space, where everything exists and everything is possible. The Pisces North Node requires
some sort of outlet for all of these visions and dreams and fantasies. This is why acting, writing,
singing, and dancing are such satisfying ventures for you, as hobbies or as career pursuits. Opening
yourself up to this portal where you can be completely fluid and transcend the concerns of the ego
deeply fulfills your soul.

And it’s this fluidity that needs an expression in everyday life, as well. Being an artist is also so good
for those with their North Node in Pisces because it helps them to stop judging themselves. You
regularly have to go to downright wild, crazy, illogical places as an artist. You have to be freely
emotional, believe in things that don’t exist, pretend to be someone you’re not, and act out
archetypes and energies that can mesmerize, move, terrify, or freak out others. Developing a
comfort with these states of being allows you to get over that hang-up you have, due to your Virgo
South Node’s compulsion with correctness, of being ridiculous. You can worry far too much about
embarrassing yourself in front of others or being criticized by them. But, accessing your inner
craziness as an artist allows you to see that going to these places aren’t so bad.

In fact, they’re quite healthy because they need to get out somehow and Virgo’s emphasis on good
health can allow you to pursue the unconscious with diligence. Through your higher self, you realize
that nobody is as neatly summed up as we’re lead to think. We’re all crazy and sane, good and evil,
clear as day and confusing as hell. These states of being should not be harshly judged. They just
need to be approached with great compassion, understanding, and awareness, letting us know how
to handle them, channel them, or express them. Therefore, you are meant to live out a vast, wide
range of possibilities inside of you. By moving into the ethereal state of being a million different
people, you find true fulfillment.

52
NORTH NODE THROUGH THE HOUSES

NORTH NODE IN THE 1ST HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 7TH HOUSE)
Your North Node sign’s traits will allow you to simply be yourself. Your challenge is to develop a
distinct notion of who you are, separate from other people. In the past, you’ve over-identified with
other people, particularly those that you feel a connection with. Your South Node shows you the
characteristics that others have brought out in you and how you’ve served as a reflection of other
people. It also indicates what you are prone to projecting on to others or what others can easily
project on to you. Understanding and cultivating true individuality will be important as well as taking
charge of your life. Live exactly the way you want to live and be exactly who you are meant to be,
regardless of the responses of others. Deep within your soul, you strive to be this authentic.

You often assume your South Node sign’s traits to be more appealing to others or to connect to
them. While you have a knack for interpersonal bonding, you also can give too much of your energy
to people, to the point where you’re not getting nearly enough back in return. This either makes you
eternally disappointed in others, seeking a love that you feel is hard to find, or a co-dependent who
doesn’t understand healthy boundaries. Such patterns bring out the worst in your South Node. By
focusing on your North Node’s expression, you will fully understand how to make yourself happy.
You’ll be able to put more energy into yourself and what you want out of life. As you do, you’ll find
your partnerships balancing out. Keep negative influences away from you, who will act out the worst
qualities of your South Node, and make sure that your relationships are supporting your happiness.
If they are standing in the way of what your North Node wants, then they have no room in your life
because they’re just going to take unnecessary energy from you.

Those with this placement spend a lot of their lives either always in a relationship, centering their
lives around someone else, or always single, forever experiencing let downs in love. But, when you
focus more on yourself, that will turn around. If you’re the former, you’ll be able to finally be okay
being alone. If you’re the latter, you’ll finally find the one you’re meant to be with. Yet, your most
important partnership has to be with you. Learn how to really like yourself by appreciating and
loving your North Node sign’s qualities. You express your higher self by allowing yourself to truly be
seen. You’ve been so used to other people receiving recognition over you. But, you need to put
yourself out there and open yourself up to receiving recognition. You evolve by being a true original
and individual. Cultivate your own style or look, fully accept your body and appearance, and express
your personality without a concern for what people will think. Also, you will be required to trust your
instinct and act courageously by facing the challenges that come with your North Node sign. Know
that you’re strong and have what it takes to survive and create the life you want.

NORTH NODE IN THE 2ND HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 8TH HOUSE)
The expression of your North Node will allow you to achieve stability, both financially and internally.
Your soul yearns to live the good life, which not only means making good money and having nice
things but having enough inner comfort to truly appreciate your life. Money can’t exactly buy
happiness yet you have to know that you’re much happier when you have enough of it. But, this
only happens when you feel like you’re enough. Your South Node’s traits can consistently undermine
you. Through your South Node expression, you can be particularly destructive, toward yourself and
others, and compelled toward toxic, volatile, emotionally unstable situations. It’s like willingly
drinking poison. You have struggled, in the past, with some form of a death wish, metaphorically or
literally, and may have also witnessed too much death or experienced too much loss and grief.

53
It’s all too easy for you to be introspective, to do some hard-hitting soul-searching. But, this leads to
an obsessively inward-looking expression of your South Node. It becomes hard for you to simply
enjoy life and all of its pleasures because you’re too focused on the pain that you’ve experienced or
that you anticipate. Even if you think compulsive introspection will heal you, it often does more
harm than good, making you overly aware of your emotional issues. Your North Node is challenging
you to focus on more practical, material things. You might feel like this is superficial but it’s through
learning how to come up from the depths and exist on the surface of life that you evolve. Your
higher self realizes that it’s okay for things to be nice and easy. You must pursue the pleasures of
your North Node sign and take the time to fully enjoy whatever it enjoys.

In doing so, you’ll create a solid life for yourself. Your destiny lies in building, not destroying. This
means being patient enough and grounded enough to develop your powers of manifestation. Realize
how gratitude, intention, ease, and the awareness of abundance will consistently draw all that you
need materially and financially your way. Though you’ll never have a soulless obsession with money,
you must learn to care about it and put a lot of energy into attracting it, earning it, managing it.
Once you’re able to develop solid self-esteem by valuing the good qualities of your North Node sign,
you’ll recognize that you deserve to make good money and live a comfortable existence. Not out of
entitlement but out of a yearning for security and stability. Being more outwardly stable will help
you become more inwardly stable, ridding you of much of the emotional drama of your South Node.
Although you will always gravitate toward rich passion between you and someone else, you need to
focus on creating intimacy with them instead of an emotional roller coaster. Let go of jealousy,
paranoia, power struggles, or unhealthy obsession, whether that energy is given or received. The
sexual chemistry can be just as great without all of that unneeded intensity. In fact, when you learn
to calm and ground yourself, your sex life becomes much more enjoyable as no deep-seated
psychological issues will be getting in the way of your physical pleasure.

NORTH NODE IN THE 3RD HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 9TH HOUSE)
When you work at your North Node, it will allow you to be an excellent communicator. The art of
listening, having an open dialogue and being eager to learn will be mastered when you embrace the
qualities of your North Node sign. You need to realize that there is so much for you to learn and that
there are many proverbial teachers and classes that you will face that you will be challenged to
pass. Through your South Node, you possess a deep conviction that you’re always right or that you
have experienced all that you need to know. In the past, you have embarked on various adventures,
maybe even to the point of constantly traveling or seeing the world. You also clung to a faith, either
a strong sense of positivity or a religion (possibly both), that kept you resilient and got you through
life. Because of this, you are a very experiential learner, which can make you not so receptive to the
often factual information you’re presented with. You can also feel like you are always on the right
path and making the right decision, which makes it very hard for you to be questioned.

Rarely, if ever, questioning yourself, you can blindly express the worst qualities of your South Node
sign without seeing the downside of what you’re doing. Being too busy seeing the good in
everything, including yourself, can make you oblivious to the negatives of a situation. Also, when
people question your motives or point out facts that threaten your beliefs, you can double down or
believe they’re just being negative. This is why it’s crucial for you to listen. While you listen to your
guides, your God, or your inner compass very faithfully, it’s a challenge for you to truly take in what
someone else is saying to you. In the process, you may come across sometimes as dense, obtuse,
completely missing the point. Your North Node’s expression, however, will allow you to comprehend
things very well. Your soul wants to know the answers and not in a big-picture sort of way. It just

54
wants to know the simple, logical answers. Your higher self will also accept the simple, logical
answers of others without seeing these facts as a threat to your entire framework.
You evolve significantly by understanding how to pick people’s brains, keep them engaged in
conversation, and see the reasoning behind their ideas and thoughts. Instead of clinging to one way
of seeing things, your challenge is to embrace your duality. The contradictions of your North Node
sign must be expressed without feeling like that makes you a “bad person.” You easily get very self-
righteous, wanting to feel like you’re someone of solid morals, and can judge other people unfairly
in the process. It leads to hypocrisy and narrow-mindedness, via the most high-and-mighty
expression of your South Node. But, you must let go of that, realizing that the concept of good and
bad can be quite relative. You will still have strong morals yet you cannot rigidly hold yourself to
those beliefs, either. Give yourself the wiggle room to live out the more questionable or even
problematic elements of your North Node. In the end, it’s only going to make you more interesting
and more complex. Plus, you will still have this side to you that sees what is correct or incorrect
about your behavior and pulls you out of the mess you create. With this placement, the only sin you
have to worry about committing is the sin of being boring.

NORTH NODE IN THE 4TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 10TH HOUSE)
Deep down, you yearn to know where your safe space is. Through the North Node, you will
understand what makes you feel at home and how to create the home that you need. Growing up,
you may not have truly felt at home with your family, for whatever reason. There wasn’t enough
comfort, safety, protection, or support there for you. As a result, you had to grow up quite fast. As a
child, you felt like an adult and couldn’t wait to get out into the world and do all of these adult
things. This made you into a very goal-oriented person. Your South Node sign indicates how you
have pursued lofty goals and ambitions, made a name for yourself in the world, and garnered public
respect and recognition. Your past was all about how much you were impressing people or how you
were creating the right image for yourself. But, somewhere along the way, you became so busy
being who you aspired to be that you forgot about who you’ve always been.

The traits of your South Node may be your way of running from your upbringing and your
background. A compulsion to have what you didn’t have growing up or to be more than your family
name/lineage has allowed you to accomplish a lot in life. Yet, it has also left you with this feeling
that something is missing. No matter how much you achieve or how many people exalt you, what
your soul really wants is to have a solid home base. Without a strong support system, you will find
that the accomplishments and the recognition that you have feel increasingly empty. After a while,
being too focused on work, image, or reputation stops serving you. The pressure of the world’s
expectations and demands can seriously wear you down and the feeling that a lot of people know
you without truly knowing you starts to make you feel very isolated or distant from others. You then
become like a very successful celebrity who is disillusioned by the fame and accolades. The solution
is going back to your roots and remembering the importance of your personal life. You’ve spent a lot
of time being very public and now you must become more private.

Your North Node will show you how to put the energy into the people who know you and love you
just for you, not for what you’ve achieved or who you present yourself to be. You evolve through a
strong sense of family. But, this may mean either finally accepting the love of your family, even if it
wasn’t entirely what you wanted it to be, or realizing that the family you were born into isn’t the
family you needed. Both stances may be required with various relatives. You will also have to create
your own loving family. In any case, you won’t be truly fulfilled in life until you have a cozy, loving
nest for you and your loved ones where needs are met and a sense of vulnerability is allowed. In
this space, you don’t need to feel any pressure to be a certain way. Tapping into your inner child,
you can connect and express yourself in a raw manner that’s not premeditated. This will make you

55
more at home with yourself, more capable of being reflective and unguarded, of accepting yourself
without being hard on yourself. You’ll always have this strategic side that allows you to brand
yourself, connect to the masses, and get ahead. But, through your higher self, you realize that you
have already gotten very far in life and you need to not go too far that you stray from home.

NORTH NODE IN THE 5TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 11TH HOUSE)
The traits of your North Node will show you what makes you special. It’s crucial for you to believe
that you’re truly special and to welcome the attention and adulation that you are destined to
receive. By expressing your North Node, you will discover where your talents lie and what you’re
good at. The South Node represents your way of focusing more on promoting other people and
developing their talents. In the past, you have been more conscious of communities or groups, of
the well-being of everyone. Yet, this has given you a certain lack of motivation when it comes to
promoting yourself. It can even be hard for you to exert your will in a way that isn’t reactionary or
contrary. Unless you are going against others’ expectations or breaking the rules, it’s all too easy for
you to just go along with whatever is happening, getting swept up in a lot of chaos as a result. Your
lack of concern with the outcome causes you to go about things too haphazardly.

Your South Node sign’s traits make you feel not only increasingly unstable but startlingly distant
from other people. Although you may have a lot of acquaintances or make many surface-level
friendships, it’s hard for you to have a heart-to-heart connection with others. You’re very impersonal
with most people, which is why your North Node is challenging you to create more heartfelt bonds
with others. This is one of the ways in which you will understand what is special about you.
Accepting exclusive attention, compliments, or praise will help you evolve as a person. You also
access your higher self when you are capable of giving that love to someone else. It’s easier for you
to just let people come to you and to have no expectations of them. But, as life goes on, this will
work less and less for you, only serving to make you feel very alienated. Sharing your affection
openly and earnestly will allow you to take charge of the situation, creating the kind of love you
want in your life. This makes a dramatic difference in your love life. You’re not un-romantic. Your
soul is actually crying out for romance. Understanding that leads you to deep fulfillment.

So, this process of cultivating your creative energy will manifest in multiple ways. You’re learning
how to create the life for yourself that you truly want to live. Doing things in groups tends to be
quite unsuccessful for you because you won’t have enough room to focus on your creative vision,
remaining flexible to a fault in terms of others’ ideas and concepts, or to shine individually. Destined
to be a star in your own right, you will need to take pride in your North Node’s expression in order
to shine as brightly as you can. Learning how to embrace your inner child will be important. It’s not
so bad for you to develop a healthy kind of self-absorption. You will always have a big-picture
interest in what’s going on in the world and what you can do to create change in others’ lives. But,
you have to balance that out with a childlike exploration of and interest in oneself. Also, you have to
be spontaneous in order to evolve. Don’t spend so much time objectively pondering things. Just live
in the moment and express yourself accordingly.

NORTH NODE IN THE 6TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 12TH HOUSE)
Your North Node traits are how you will be able to clean up your act, literally and figuratively, and
get yourself together. Your higher self has an awareness of what is efficient and what isn’t efficient,
of how you can become more organized or productive. The particular sense of order you should
strive to create is dependent on your North Node sign. What works for you? How do you get to
work? The energy that you have to be disciplined or stay busy can very easily be undermined by
your South Node. The sign that it’s in indicates how you become confused, drained, depleted, or
overwhelmed. It’s not only because you find it hard to adapt to the daily hustle and bustle of life but

56
because you’re a sensitive, empathic person who absorbs the energy around you. In the process,
you can project things on to others, be a target of projection, or feel like an eternal victim.

The traits of your South Node indicate how you can spend too much time feeling sorry for yourself
instead of getting to work. You may fail to realize that there are tangible solutions to your problems.
Feeling unable to fix what’s going wrong, you end up feeling cursed, forsaken, neglected. You have
a pronounced spiritual, intuitive side which can bring you peace and make you compassionate. Yet,
it too often stands in the way of you doing what needs to be done because you either aren’t relying
enough on practical solutions or you feel like the Universe or your Higher Power will take care of it.
But, you need to learn how to help yourself. Through your North Node, you become the problem
solver that you were destined to be. Your soul yearns for a sense of clarity amidst all of the
disorienting circumstances that you can find yourself in. So, you feel deeply fulfilled when you figure
out how to stop yourself from drifting or being a giant mess and get yourself together.

Living healthier, working harder, and owning up to your mistakes are the ways in which you will
significantly evolve. Admitting to your wrongdoings is particularly important because you may feel
like people are just supposed to accept you how you are without any criticism or judgment. When
you are appropriately called out for things, your go-to response can be to play the victim and take it
very personally. The critiques of other people can go a long way in helping you figure out what
you’re doing wrong and take the necessary steps toward correcting your behavior. Also, do not
hesitate to correct those who truly need it. With this placement, you must exercise discernment and
judgment in order to also figure out what’s unhealthy and unproductive about others’ behavior. By
doing so, you’ll be able to keep toxic influences away from you and create stronger boundaries with
them as well as provide practical help to people who need it.

NORTH NODE IN THE 7TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 1ST HOUSE)
When you embrace your North Node, you will understand the give-and-take of partnerships. You are
evolving into someone who is more conscious of other people and how you can create mutual
happiness with them. Due to your South Node, you have spent a lot of time only thinking about your
point of view or how things are impacting you. The sign your South Node is in shows how you have
been self-involved in the past or how much you have gone at it alone. Looking out for number one,
first and foremost, has caused you to only be aware of your needs. Therefore, when you try to form
bonds with others, you struggle to see things from their point of view. This can make it difficult for
you to feel truly connected with other people. A large part of you can be convinced that you’re
always going to be alone. Even when you’re not actually alone, you struggle to feel present and
bonded with the other person.

Your South Node will also make it hard for you to recognize parts of yourself that you don’t want to
recognize. Only seeing yourself through your gaze, you may fail to see both how attractive your
North Node traits can be as well as how much they can create discord or unhappiness between you
and someone else. It’s also a challenge for you to admit that you find those same traits both
appealing and disagreeable in other people, at various times. Your relationship with yourself has
always felt so simple and uncomplicated. While it’s good for you to maintain that connection to the
self, your soul is actually yearning for something more complex. You’re being challenged to take
both the good and the bad in the people that you get close to and to recognize that they are equally
challenged to accept both the good and the bad within you. This will show you how you can throw
things off-balance in partnerships but also why people will truly love you. In the process, you’ll learn
how to truly love others even when they’re not entirely satisfying you.

57
Feeling particularly unattractive or unlikable is a byproduct of this placement. You have such a “take
me or leave me” attitude that you’re too prepared for people to leave you and not want much to do
with you. Your higher self, however, will know what you have to bring to the table in a relationship.
You’ll evolve into an amazing companion to your close friends, significant others, or any other
important person in your life by living out your North Node. You’ll also come to realize that your
destiny lies in other people’s hands, in many ways. It’s not to say that you can’t exert agency over
your life because you’ll always have that very self-reliant side. It’s just that you only get so far
without the help of others. Learning that no man is an island is a major lesson for you, which will
instill the importance of playing as fairly with others as you can. In doing so, you’ll recognize what a
major influence you can have on others, how you can bring out the best in them and in ways that
will benefit you. As a result, they’ll also have a major influence on you.

NORTH NODE IN THE 8TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 2ND HOUSE)
You evolve the most when you embrace the emotional depths within you. Accepting and expressing
the traits of your North Node is what takes you into yourself on profound levels. Through this
psychoanalysis of the self, you cannot be afraid of what you’ll find. Thanks to your South Node,
you’re more used to existing on the surface of life. Your past was spent only worrying about simple
pleasures, making good money, and having a nice life for yourself. But, having such a preoccupation
with comfort and stability made it very hard for you to deal with the parts of yourself that were
uncomfortable or that caused you to feel unstable in some way. Avoiding introspection like the
plague, you managed to convince yourself that you didn’t have many issues to deal with. While this
worked for you for a while, you eventually reach a point in your life where all of those pent-up
emotions torment you and break you down. They will inevitably demand to be confronted.

When you focus too much on your South Node’s expression, you remain stuck in a stagnant place
where you cannot grow psychologically. Your North Node, on the other hand, is asking you to create
psychological change for yourself. You must see this as being as valuable as money or material
possessions are, if not more because that inner transformation is something that no one can take
away from you. Engaging in this process means facing what is scary, dark, or destructive about you.
Ironically, you will evolve in life when you’re able to go off the deep end a bit. In doing so, you
recognize what you’re capable of. You might also have to experience significant losses, whether that
means intense heartbreak, the death of a loved one, or the destruction of your sense of security or
stability, in order to achieve growth. You have a soul that wants to experience extremes, to live as
fully and deeply and wholeheartedly as possible.

While going down this path, you can use your North Node sign to figure out the harmful patterns
you’ve inherited from your family or the ways in which you’ve endured significant trauma or
emotional pain. Instead of just pretending like your life is nice and easy, you have to admit to the
ways in which life has emotionally messed you up. Great inner power stems from this growing
awareness, as does healing and a deeper insight into other people’s issues. Your higher self is
capable of not only transforming yourself emotionally but the people around you. As a result, you’ll
never be the same. You’ll accept the dark, painful underbelly of life without letting it destroy you.
Know that you do need to remain grounded and centered, to not completely get swept up in
emotional volatility. But, you do need to allow yourself to “go there”. This also plays a part in sex.
Your North Node indicates the sexual desires and magnetism you’ll increasingly exhibit in life as well
as the issues that will arise in intimacy that get in the way of your full sexual expression. It’s up to
you to confront and transform these issues, as well, and make sure that you’re dealing with your
sexuality in the most empowering of ways.

NORTH NODE IN THE 9TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 3RD HOUSE)

58
Living out your North Node’s energy will allow you to eagerly embrace all of the experiences that
you can. You evolve by figuring out what journey you need to be on and moving toward that path.
It must be a path that is truly meaningful and inspiring to you. Your South Node’s expression can
make it difficult to figure out what that means, though. In the past, you have spent too much time
in your head and have become an over-thinker or too rational for your own good. Your reasoning
abilities are not necessarily a bad thing. They only become negative when unbalanced. The sign
your South Node is in makes it very easy for you to be too questioning or skeptical. As a result, it’s a
challenge for you to have faith and take chances. You want to make sure that it all adds up or that
you’re making the smartest choice. But, in the process, you end up missing out on many
opportunities that could turn out to be amazing if you just took the leap.

Therefore, your ability to evolve depends on how positive you are capable of being. When you
express your North Node sign, you will be able to focus on positive energy and use it to manifest all
sorts of experiences and possibilities. You have to learn how to take whatever comes your way and
turn it into a positive or see the positive in it. But, there’s always this other part of your brain that
gets in the way, this little voice that tells you what you’re doing is wrong or that you need to
consider an alternative. Learning how to silence that unnecessary dialogue is what will build your
faith. Your soul wants to live to the maximum and you cannot do that if you’re too busy getting
distracted from this extraordinary path. You must learn how to keep moving forward. Though you’ll
always be curious and someone with a multitude of ideas, you can’t let all of that thinking steer you
off course. You must fully believe that you’re on the right track and doing the right thing.

In the process, you’ll develop a stronger inner compass. Your North Node will guide you toward
what is right and this helps you build a sense of morality. You’ve lived in shades of grey for a long
time, often intentionally engaging in contradictory behavior that made you seem dubious, tricky, or
problematic. But, expressing your higher self will make you feel like a good, honest person. It’s by
being truly honest and avoiding the lies that your South Node sign likes to tell that you will be able
to find a sense of freedom in life. After all, the truth is only going to set you free. Focusing on the
freedom that your North Node sign craves and expressing that energy freely, you will feel like you’re
embarking on all of the adventures that you can. Seeing all of these sights and consistently moving
out of your comfort zone is how you will learn more and more in life. You have already learned a lot
in a purely intellectual manner. Now, you’re being asked to be more of an experiential sort of
learner, which will only make you more enthusiastic when faced with new experiences as well as
more resilient in the face of disappointing ones.

NORTH NODE IN THE 10TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 4TH HOUSE)
You will achieve remarkable things in life when you commit to your North Node path. You must
dedicate yourself to whatever your North Node sign wants to achieve and put in all of the necessary
work needed to rise to the top. The respect and the recognition of the public will follow in significant
ways. What will hold you back from this is remaining stuck in the comfort zone of your South Node.
Your South Node sign makes you feel safe because it defined so much of your upbringing. The traits
of the sign show how you have always been treated by your family and what you’ve come to
depend on them for. While this does create a real closeness between you and your loved ones (for
better or for worse), it also means that you can find it so easy to be who you’ve always been that
you lose touch with who you want to become. You need to go beyond the family name and figure
out how to make a name for yourself as your own autonomous being.

Doing so will require you to create a strong image for yourself. How do you want to be known out in
the world? Therefore, your challenge is to brand yourself as well as to be aware of your reputation.
This is difficult for you because you’ve spent so much of your past existing in a raw, reactive state

59
that depended greatly on conditioning. Your South Node’s expression shows how you get messy
behind closed doors. But, while it’s great that you’re able to be so real, you have to know when it’s
time to put on a bit of a mask. It doesn’t mean that you’re selling your soul or being some
calculated robot. Since you’re so soulful, that will never be an issue for you. It just means knowing
when you need to adopt certain strategies and express certain traits that will allow you to be and
remain successful. Navigating your way through the world means understanding that there are parts
of yourself that you do and don’t share and that this is only part of being a grown-up.

Embracing that state of adulthood is another particular challenge for you. A certain co-dependency
with your family may be experienced that prevents you from really growing up. Also, you may be
way too influenced by them, especially your parents, who can try to exert too much of an influence
on your career path in some way or another. Figure out how your North Node wants to take control.
Your soul yearns to be in control, in this position of authority, to make the rules and not be some
little kid still being subjected to the rules. As a result, you will evolve by being the boss. You must
focus on rising up the ranks and being in-charge in your work life. This will show you how capable
you are of establishing guidelines and structures. You also need to run an effective ship, as any
ineffective leadership or shows of authority will only cause people to lose respect for you. As your
life goes on, you’ll find yourself becoming an increasingly public figure. Though you will still have a
strong need to be private, you will have to balance that out with this growing “fame” of yours. Your
higher self will not stop until you are renowned and revered. Also, make sure that what you’re giving
to the world feels like important work that gives you a strong sense of purpose.

NORTH NODE IN THE 11TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 5TH HOUSE)
A growing social and cultural consciousness emerges from within you when you accept and express
your North Node. Through this sign, you are capable of changing people’s lives, in some way or
another, whether that means devoting yourself to an idealistic cause or doing whatever you can to
help people succeed or be their best. It’s challenging for you to want to make the world better,
though, because your South Node can keep you fixated on being the best. Your South Node traits
compel you toward the spotlight and give you a heightened sense of your greatness. While you are
very creative and talented, your ego can all too easily get out of hand and undermine you. Then,
you remain on a desperate, self-absorbed search for validation and affirmation. You probably got a
lot of recognition for your talents early in life. Yet, instead of letting this lead to a natural self-
confidence, you harbor a need for attention that can become overwhelming and demanding.

Such an attitude can also be experienced in romantic situations. Feeling like you’re not getting
enough affection or attention from your love interest seriously outrages you or hurts your pride. The
drama you’re capable of creating, in any circumstance, is defined by the sign your South Node is in.
Instead of making things bigger than they are, including yourself, you need to use your North
Node’s expression to develop true objectivity. Stand back and see things for how they’re happening
on a more impersonal level. This will constantly remind you that there are concerns out there bigger
than your own. As a result, your higher self will be more focused on what you can do for others.
How can you bring other people the recognition you crave? Through your high creativity and your
Midas touch, you will be able to bring out the best in other people. The best part is that, by focusing
on them, you’ll truly relax and develop authentic confidence, instead of arrogance or false pride.

This frees you from having to cater to other people’s expectations. When you focus too much on
what your South Node wants, it gives you an endless desire to please your audience. But, molding
your self-expression so it can gain others’ applause is only going to leave you unfulfilled. Develop
enough detachment to not care about other people’s approval. In doing so, you will also let go of
your obsessive need to be loved. Know that you already are loved because you’re a human being

60
and you deserve that love like anyone else; not out of entitlement but out of equality and unity. So,
while you will still have enough self-regard to want to be treated well, you’ll also stop turning your
connections with others into a big drama. Love affairs will go more smoothly when you use your
North Node to simply receive love and let it come to you, instead of giving love with a dramatic
expectation of how it should come to you. Your soul wants to love everyone the same and be loved
the same as everyone else. So, this will shift your focus toward friendships and social bonds, even
allowing you to treat lovers like friends. Although you are destined to be highly socially involved and
well-known in your community, you will still need your freedom. You aren’t meant to fit in too well
into any group, which maintains your status as a unique, individualistic friend or ally to have.

NORTH NODE IN THE 12TH HOUSE (SOUTH NODE IN THE 6TH HOUSE)
Your soul just wants to let go and your North Node traits will allow you to do so. You are being
challenged to tap into the spiritual dimension of life and to connect to something greater than the
physical realm. This sets you off on a heady journey that will lead to healing, serenity, and
enlightenment. But, in order to get there, you have to move beyond the daily grind you’re used to.
In the past, you have worried and stressed and worked yourself to no end. Your South Node sign
shows how you have clung to a certain routine, very rigidly or anxiously, with the intent of
maintaining control and order. Operating on really clear notions of what is correct and incorrect, you
have also displayed a perfectionism that put you through the ringer. You’ve compulsively expressed
the dissatisfactions of your South Node, whether you have directed that toward yourself or toward
other people.

There is something tireless about you yet also something so tired about you. The schedule that you
have to deal with and the nervous energy that plagues you has a way of wearing you down. Yet,
you might get off on the stress or feel like you wouldn’t know what to do if everything wasn’t
planned and scheduled. But, living in this routine manner is preventing you from going with the
flow, which is how you access your higher self. The yearning to go to that higher plane is very
pronounced with this placement. Sooner or later, you’ll find yourself getting bored with the constant
routine and with the non-stop productivity. Give yourself a break, in more ways than one! You must
use your North Node to be more compassionate toward yourself. Whatever makes that sign feel at
peace, you have to embrace it while also realizing the importance of meeting your various deadlines
and giving yourself a needed push.

You’ll also evolve by understanding and accepting that there’s more to life than what is right in front
of you. Feeling like you must have a solution for everything is only going to trip you up. You’re able
to evolve when you move into the unknown and even embrace things you can’t entirely explain.
This will strengthen your intuition, enrich your imagination, and allow you to develop a strong sense
of spirituality. In the process, the things that worry your South Node or make you feel stressed out
will fade away. You’ll realize that, no matter how much effort you put in, there are certain things
that aren’t up to you. Doing all the work you can and then leaving it up to the Higher Power is how
you find balance. You are also meant to juxtapose your discerning observations with a greater sense
of empathy for others. Instead of being a harsh taskmaster, simply take the time to see the
humanity in the person, flaws and all. You’ll be able to do this when you can see yourself in the
same way. Having time for solitude and reflection helps you develop this profound connection with
the self. Your destiny is to explore all of the hidden corners of your soul and to lovingly accept
whatever energies and traits you discover in there, even if it’s tempting to repress or ignore them.
Whatever you feel and experience inwardly only makes you human and further connects you to all
the living beings around you.
