Directions: Write a REFLECTION about your journey in ETHICS.

My Journey in Ethics

Learning in today’s changing world has resulted in various excellent learning

experiences. The knowledge I have obtained through different assessments, tasks, and
discussions in class or in an interactive video presentation has broadened my
understanding of learning from any perspective especially if the subject I’m taking off
helps my growth development and be a well-mannered person. It is clear from this text
that in all the lessons that have been discussed, Ethics has played an important part in
my learning process during the whole semester.

My journey here comes in many ways, though it’s a typical experience like others
still, I wanted everyone to know about every detail when I was in this subject.

First, I will be talking about my first impressions when I hear the word ethics, since
I came from the business-related course and it’s already have been discussed with us
before, I’m expecting that it consists of ethical values and applying them to business
behavior. I had full confidence in this subject because I thought I can apply all the
learnings I got from my subject before last semester. I was sure about myself, but along
the way of our first meeting discussion, I just realized that it is far from what I expected,
that it is not what I’m thinking, it is ethics from a general perspective.
Second, I want to tell my first thoughts on my professor, as a curious student, I did
a background search by asking his previous students. I want to know what approach I
should take during his class. And, based on what I discovered and noticed, he's the type
of professor that strict with his students, to the point in each recitation, it feels like there's
a debate, and hearing his voice gives me shiver. But, in the following days, all my first
impressions of him were wrong. He’s not strict, he is just serious when teaching, and I
can sense his dedication to his chosen profession. He’s absolutely fun, he jokes randomly
to ease the boredom in our discussion. Although he’s serious like what I said, everyone
is free to lighten up the mood and the atmosphere even if he’s teaching.

Lastly, I would also like to tell some of my realizations and insights from this
journey. We are all given a chance to choose the things we want, sometimes these
choices turn out to be good, while others end up being not so great. We can act unethically
so in ways that perhaps we regret and hopefully we learn from and we can act ethically
in ways that promote the good. Although, there’s no single answer to deciding between
those two options, one way to respond is to cultivate our own ethical awareness to
develop the skills needed to act ethically. Moreover, I realized having an ethics education
would play a useful role in helping us to respond to ethical challenges and develops skills
like reasoning and emphatic skills than can help us to be ethical persons.
PART 2:
Question:
1. Would you consider yourself a virtuous person? Expound your answer.

Being a human is complicated, even if we give our best shot still we failed for one
reason or for another, there are times we set instructions, but along the way, it will not
happen which gives us disappointment and questions our existence. We always find
ourselves striving toward perfection, but the fact is perfection is an ideal that no one
cannot be reached. To be a human is to be imperfect, all of us have flaws and that’s not
a bad thing. Those flaws make us human, it’s what distinguishes us as human beings
with distinct qualities. Although we are flawed, we are capable to do or choose good
deeds. We can be good people if we want to be.
In everyday life, we encounter a lot of people who choose to contribute their free
time to help others whether it is doing some random acts of kindness like giving food,
supporting the needs of some people, holding someone’s thing, and many more. In this
text, I want to share some of the fulfilling experiences that have inspired me to help others
as much as possible. With that being said, I feel good every time I ease someone's burden
and suffering. Seeing my loved ones being hurt especially when they pretend that
everything is okay, I also get hurt. In that situation, I’m emotionally present for them, I
want to be with them during their hardest moments, I want them to feel my presence, and
I can listen whether it is a tale of the heavy burden they need to let out. Moreover,
household chores are the thing we cannot avoid every day which is a necessity, especially
for our mother. I know it’s not easy to do a lot of work at home, a very tiring and stressful
job. As part of being a good daughter to my mom, I still manage to help her in doing
household chores despite my busy schedule. Even if I’m in college right now, I made sure
to take out some time to clean our house and wash dishes. My small help will be a huge
support for her. Seeing my parents smile and knowing that I’m the source of that smile is
the most wonderful thing in the world. Another act of kindness I made for others around
me was to show my concern. Even though we have been in the online class for quite
some time, there are times that were still new to the setup like waking up so early. Every
time in the class I made sure to check my friends if they attend the meeting and If not, I
call them immediately. Being a caring person is a good trait to have.
We are not forced to help others, but I believe it is our responsibility to help
someone in any other way that we have that may be of use to others. Helping others
gives me the feeling that I am at least capable of doing something.
