INDTRODUCTION
Sari-sari store is the term used in the Philippines for all convenience store it is from the tagalog
word “sari-sari” which means “variety”. Such stores form important economic and social location
in the Filipino community. It is present in almost all neigborhoods, sometimes in every street.
The store is often attached to or part of the owner’s house but it may also be a freestanding
store just in front of owner’s house. Many stores have advertising material alongside the store
name on the signboards. Sari-sari stores vary in appearance but they all have certain traits is
common first, The customers do not enter the store during the transaction. It is only through a
small window and sometimes it has long counter in front, and the items are being displayed by
hanging some of it from the ceiling or can be on the walls.

1. How much do you think you earn from being the owner of a sari-sari store?
- According to Mrs, Bonaobra her sari-sari store achieves a daily sales of 4,000 pesos
with a 15% mark up, that means their profit is 600 pesos.
In the Philippines, these stores play a vital role in providing everyday economic sustenance to
low-income communities. But more than an economic hub, sari-sari stores also function as a
social hub that connect people and acts as eyes and ears of the community through the people
who make use of their services.
The retail industry is very popular in the Philippines. Sari-sari stores have become essential
part of the lifestyles of the Filipinos. They are considered lifeline of the Filipinos and lifeblood of
the Philippines retail industry.
