many ways to help me understand how I should see myself. My illustration of an empty glass represents the many factors that helped me learn and discover more about myself. I had a realization that I may be just like an empty glass in accepting ideas on how to view myself. I was enabled to have a better mindset that applied to how I was filled with all of the ideas and teachings from the module. An empty glass is transparent, reflective, and is flexible, for it can be filled with all sorts of liquid. I drew the empty glass for how these factors help describe myself. Transparency is one of the many factors that help shape me, for I believe that having nothing to hide from others helps in inviting trust from them. With this, I can establish myself as a credible and honest person. From the module, I understood that being transparent enables the self to be available and understand people’s concerns and fears. I was able to gain an entirely new understanding of myself and others through the module because I believe that having a course that allows me to discover and understand the self and how it affects others made me realize that I am more than who I think I am. I am flexible given how I could soak up the life teachings from the lectures and apply them to correcting what is wrong with myself and adjusting myself as I improve and be better as a person. To understand me completely, I imbibed myself with the concept of both Rationalism and Platonism. Rationalism helps me whenever I am studying a topic unfamiliar to me, and it helps me understand that I need to study to gain knowledge about things that I have no understanding of. Rationalism made me realize that I need to have research of something before believing something from it or using it for facts and knowledge. On the contrary, the concept of Platonism is what I use often. Platonism is the ideology that I have a reflection on because of my faith as a Catholic. I believe in God, and I understand the idea that all knowledge leads to Him, and if my heart is deemed pure, I may someday gain his love and trust. In applying the concept of Platonism in real life, I can move forward and believe that God is always here to help guide me to do good and move towards the right path. The main scientific view that I have imbibed myself with is behaviorism. I believe I would have a better time analyzing the people around me by utilizing this scientific view. By understanding people’s behaviors, I would correctly choose the types of people to choose as my peers. Using behaviorism in selecting the people to surround me has given me many fruitful results. It helped me in knowing who to choose to be my friends. Not all people will treat us the way we treat them, and in using the idea of behaviorism, we would be able to know who will and who won’t. I gained a lot of new ideas and knowledge from the first module of GED101; it helped me realize many things about myself as I learn more about my own identity. I learned to be more considerate of what I am feeling, precisely my emotions. I realized that we must not let our moods affect other people. If I am having a bad day, it does not mean that other people deserve to have a bad day too. The module taught me to be aware and respect other people’s feelings and not let what I am feeling affect them. Another significant learning that I had from the module is that our behaviors are the reflection of ourselves. The module made me understand that the behaviors we show are the actions that generate from our thoughts, that we behave in a certain way because of how our ideas persuade us that it is the best decision that we can make. The module made me realize that the way we think about something will affect how we feel about it. Lastly, the third thing that I have learned from the first module is that we are who we are right now because of how we are raised. The module made me understand that we are a product of the Nurture given by our parents. The way we were raised helped shape who we are right now and who we would become in the future. I side with Nurture on its debate against Nature because I believe that the care and encouragement given to me by my parents helped me to become who I am supposed to be. The module helped me understand more of myself. It helped me gain knowledge that I did not know before; it also provided me with insights about beliefs and theories that describe what I feel towards myself and others. And as I keep in check the many things I have learned; I could become better as a person as I understand myself.
