REFLECTION PAPER: MY GENDER IDENTITY

Many key individuals and events have occurred in my life that shaped my gender
identity, for instance, the influence of my friends. I have two siblings; they are my two brothers,
every game we played were all boys things like bakugans, PlayStation 1 war games and such
things like running around erratically, jumping around erratically, and more other things. But
when I was into contact with my classmates, I began to question my Gender Identity.
When I was at grade school, at about 3rd grade, I was anew at my alma mater because we
changed houses for my father’s job opportunity. And socializing isn’t my key specialty, so I
followed any kind of “fun”. Like sipa, pogs, and Chinese garter. What can I do? I was having
fun. So, when I was at grade school, my Gender Identity didn’t really matter because I was not a
problem, but my gender identity was questioned in my high school days.
While I was at high school, I missed grade 6 because of certain problems, so it felt like I
was in grade school. It was weird of course, all my friends felt like they weren’t before, it felt
like I don’t know them anymore. So, I gave myself time to know them again, but even though
throughout the school year, I feel like I was a nobody because they don’t talk to me as a friend
but only as a classmate. So, I open myself to my girl classmates because they are more engaging,
and I can talk to them as a friend and vise versa. Many days later because I was the only one boy
in a girl group specially when lunches or even at breaks. Because of this, many of my classmates
questioned my sexuality because there were no gay, lesbian, or bi in my batch. I opened up after
a while, that is why many of my boy friends are more engaging to the girls after me opening up.
Many years later, many still question my identity because I do things not many boys do. But
today my identity is straight man. Why? After all of that happened, why does my gender identity
as a straight? Well, I am a man, and I have had a crush.
