Hello Players and Families,

We are excited to begin our tennis season this Tuesday, February 8th. Our tennis program will
be led by Coach Gerri Jacobs. Coach Jacobs comes to us with many years of tennis experience
as both a player and coach. Coach Jacobs is looking forward to working with the team this
season, and we are happy to have her join our coaching staff. Ms. Lynda Ciment will coach our
JV players, and Coach Calderon will assist both coaches as well as drive the bus to practices
and matches.

Practices will start this Tuesday, February 8th. We will practice every Tuesday and Wednesday
from 4:15-6:00 at Fairchild Tennis Center. We will also condition one day a week when we are
not at the tennis center. More information on that will come as we begin our season.

Players can meet the coaches on the bus after school, it will be parked on the driveway by the
Shadfan building. The bus will depart at 4:00 pm to head over to the tennis center. Players will
not be allowed to drive themselves to the tennis center. All players need to be ready to start
practice by 4:15 pm. Players are allowed to be picked up directly from the tennis center at the
end of practice or accompany the coaches on the bus back to school to be picked up from
Keystone. Players are not allowed to leave the tennis center until they have notified a member
of the coaching staff who they are leaving with.

We run two levels of play based on skill level and the number of participants. We have a junior
varsity team and a varsity team. Many schools in our district do not have a JV team. Once in a
while we play against a school with a big tennis program, and we are able to get everyone a
match. Our varsity team is made up of 2 singles, 2 doubles, and 1 alternate for boys and girls
(14 total). Uniforms will be issued out to the varsity team only.

Players should come dressed to play; that means come in comfortable, athletic clothing/tennis
shoes that will not hinder you from playing. Players should also bring a tennis racquet, hat,
sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. Please also be prepared for any inclement weather, bring
hoodies or long sleeves to wear in case it gets cold. On rainy days we will practice in the gym
when it is available.

Due to COVID-19 there are some safety precautions in place. Players will be required to wear
masks on the bus. Once we arrive at the tennis center, masks are optional.

We will provide a link to the schedule. Varsity will only play in matches unless the other team
has enough players to get our JV team some matches. If a match is scheduled on a practice
day, our varsity will compete while our JV players practice.

District Tournament: Our varsity team will compete in the district tournament in Kerrville. Players
who do well and qualify will participate in the state tournament in Waco.
