presence of sugar in the urine of a pregnant woman. This test will also show if Aling Siony has
gestational diabetes which is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy. Having the Benedict’s
Test will also help to know if Aling Siony needs to see a doctor for the safe and healthy delivery of her

 Place the waste plastic/paper bag outside the work area

- Urine, it is the specimen that the pregnant woman should provide for the test. About 3-5 drops of the

determine if there is a presence of sugar in the urine of a pregnant mother.

5. The Benedict’s test yielded a YELLOW result. What does it mean and what might be the possible
explanation?

- If the test yielded yellow, it only means that there is 0.5 or 1 percent sugar in the patient’s urine, the
sugar in the patient’s urine is not so alarming but the patient should be careful so she will not acquire a
