English 102 is a blended learning course that is designed for A2 level students (pre-intermediate). It
aims to equip students with the skills needed in life and the workplace. Just like any English
language course, it focuses in developing all language areas.

Taking attendance will be at the beginning of each class. If you are not present when the
instructor is taking attendance you will be counted absent unless you confirm your presence.
If you need to contact the instructor, you can refer to the office hours provided next to her
office or via email: English-trainer@hotmail.co.uk.
Any announcement will be posted on Blackboard & telegram channel . Power points lessons and
course handouts will posted there as well.
• Links to the Self- study ( liveworksheets ) will be available both on the blackboard and the
telegram channel.
• Self-study test should be submitted before class. You will have a whole week to submit it.
Students who get a grade below 60% will be assigned extra work to get the mark for the
self-study.
• Studens who don’ submit self-study on time will lose mark and get an absence in the self-
study session assigned in their schedules
• Always make sure to write your full name and section when sending the self-study through
liveworksheets. Don’t forget to take a screenshot to your name and grade and keep it for
future reference.

The people below are all looking for a job. Read the job adverts and decide which job (letters A-H)
would be the most suitable for each of the following people (numbers 1-5).
1. Sara is very good at sport and wants to work outside. She studied biology, chemistry and maths
at college. She has three young children. Her mother looks after the children in the daytime.
2. Hanan is an English teacher with 15 years of experience. She has a young family and also looks
after her elderly mother and father in Tabuk. She loves sport and enjoys walking in the mountains.
3. Yasmina has good people skills and enjoys working with both children and adults. At college she
studied hard but she also had time for sport and club activities. She manages her time well. She
hopes to get married in the future.
5. Fatima studied engineering at college. She loved the lab work because she enjoys working with

A. We are looking for a person to work in a home for children aged 4-10 without parents. You will
teach the children basic maths, Arabic and social skills. You will take them on visits outside the
school. This job is good for people who are caring. We are a charity so we give you money each
week for food, clothing and transport but no salary.
B. Are you interested in the environment? Do you love nature and being outdoors? Do you want to
work in an international team? Then this job is for you. Come and work on our farm. We are doing
scientific work to find new kinds of plants and trees that can grow without much water in the
desert of Saudi Arabia.
C. We need a person with a lot of energy to work at our private school for children aged 11-16. We
teach regular subjects in the daytime but after school and at weekends we take the children for
activities like rock climbing, camping in the desert and swimming in the Red Sea. You need to be fit
and sporty, but friendly too.
D. Are you good at English? We need English-speaking people to help our teachers in schools all
over Saudi Arabia. You will help them to prepare English lessons and answer questions about the
English language. You will visit their classrooms and watch them teach. Sometimes you will teach
the English classes with them.
E. We need a person to teach English and sport to secondary school students. Our school is small
but very friendly. The students are hard-working. The school is in the south of Saudi Arabia so in
your free time you can visit the beautiful mountains.
F. Do you like science and art? Then we need you! We need people to design the new trains and
stations for the Jeddah Metro. You will travel to Germany for one month to work with our partners
there. You must like working in a team and enjoy finding new solutions to challenging problems.
G. We are looking for a general manager for our hotel in Riyadh. The manager is responsible for all
the hotel staff, from the waiters and kitchen staff to the cleaners and engineers. You should speak
and write English well and have excellent communication skills.
H. Interested in fashion and shopping? Do you like organising people? Why not come and work with
us at the Green Mountains Shopping Mall? We want a person to arrange our activities programme
and to make our mall the most famous in Taif. You must work at the weekend and in the school
