Today, our team will be presenting about a pretty well-known festival in a country from North
America – Brazil called Dia de Muertos, also known as Festival of the Dead. Now if you haven’t heard
about this festival before and think it’s related to some kind of creepy ritual just based on the title,
___ will be the one that will help you go through some main things about the festival and trust me,
it’s definitely not creepy, but actually pretty fun!
So what is Dia de Muertos? After some researching, our team have found an animated short film
about such festival.

Alright, that’s the end of the short film. If you still don’t completely understand what this festival is
about, Dia de Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday where people remember loved ones who
have passed away. The festival is celebrated every year on the 2 nd of November in many countries
such as Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, other areas in Central and South America and even many parts
of the United States!
(Nghi lễ tổ chức)
In the festival, people usually wear masks that look like a devil’s face or a skull, then open a party to
reunite with others and eat many things. Some of the most populat foods in said parties are tequilla,
mezcal, hot chocolate, types of bread and candies that are shaped like a skull. On the forehead of
each skull, you can see a person’s name so that everyone can buy skull candies with their friend’s
name and enjoy the feeling of eating someone’s head. Despite how creepy it’s described, it is a
pretty interesting tradition that is greatly approved by everyone.
Also in this day, in Mexico villages, people would visit their deceased relatives to decorate their
tombs. They use marigolds, candles and toys if the deceased is a kid or tequilla if the deceased is an
adult to decorate the tombs. After that, the family just sit around the tombs, eat the foods that the
deceased one used to like and have a conversation with eachother
