Dear Christian

I hope you are very well. I wanted to write to you to tell you about everything I have done in
my trip in Mexico, and to tell you about one of the most important traditions here, "El día de
los muertos". "El día de los muertos" is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. During those
days people who have died return to earth to visit their loved ones, so each family pays them
a tribute in which they themselves prepare altars and offerings to welcome the deceased
person who returns, in addition to making different activities to celebrate these important
days.

On this trip, I had the fortune to visit a small town in Mexico during the “El dia de los
muertos” in November. I had never experienced this celebration before,it was my first time
experiencing this interesting tradition, so I found myself really excited and more when I could
see families dedicating entire days to preparing offerings and decorating the graves of their
loved ones with a variety of flowers, such as marigolds, and candles. In those cemeteries,
the scent of copal and marigolds mingled in the air as groups of people cleaned and adorned
the graves. According to what the villagers told me, tradition also suggests that, to facilitate
the return of souls to the earth, it is necessary that they for themselves scatter marigold
petals and place candles marking the path they will follow so that these souls do not get lost
and reach their destination. Regarding food, it is very common for the most popular dishes
placed as an offering to the deceased to include enchiladas, a dish based on mole, pan de
muerto, sweet pumpkin, sweet tejocote, and even some fruits such as mandarins, sugar
cane, and guava.that experience allowed me and more tourist to immerse ourselves in this
rich culture.

For Mexicans, more than a tradition, it is a fundamental part of their culture, they celebrate
happily while connecting with their ancestors, they believe that guiding the way to meet
them, will keep them in memory for generations. I actually recommend that you go,
Mexicans are very kind, friendly and humble, they do everything themselves manually, the
decorations look spectacular and they celebrate with a lot of music and dancing. Oh and I
just barely forget it, it's so true that Mexicans cook wonderfully. So, my advice is that you
need to try it, why not?, cause this lovely festivity is the opportunity to connect your own past
doing by yourself, an unique tradition in the whole world. I hope that you can enjoy it like me
and many people who also liked it.
My dear Chistian, for you best friend,
I wish you the best and I hope someday, you visit Mexico during “El dia de los muertos” and
have an amazing holiday season :D
